I got the chance to interview Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington from Linkin Park - the band which got me into making music. They were promoting their new album "One More Light" (I've had "Heavy" from it stuck in my head for frickin' weeks now)

I don’t understand this. Science is testing something over and over and coming up with theories that align and music is making noise that sounds good and comes from the heart?
@@Mypenisissmallbut making music also takes trials and errors. About 6 months ago they releases some of their songs demo and altho it sounds slightly different, the feelings that it carries across is significantly different. That’s my take on why music and science is similar.
@@Mypenisissmallbut music is not just making noises, there's a lot of science involved in it. Vibrations of certain frequencies and amplitudes are what produces music. Ignoring all that, there's still a lot of theory involved likes scales, beat etc. And yes a lot of it comes naturally to most talented musicians doesn't mean any less effort goes into it. Also who told you science is testing things and coming up with theories 😑. Science is the pursuit of knowledge and its application, anything can be science by definition really
I'm super late, but it's because math. Math is in everything. Science identifies and explains patterns, music uses patterns to evoke feelings and emotions. I'm not explaining well but I hope y'all understand

There's even a study out there telling that musical thinking and scientific thinking is done in the same part of the brain. People who understand one understand the other well, too whereas usually people who have a hard time understanding maths often also have a hard time understanding music theory.

It's insane to think that Dave and that group was probably the last fans Chester saw before his death.
Not really... that was a few months before his death. That was at that start of a huge promo tour he and Mike did all throughout Europe, and after that they played some shows in South America and Europe again. So Chester got to see many more fans after that

Ah man, Linkin Park was the first band I really ever liked, and they got me through some dark, dark times with that Minutes to Midnight album. But I never went all fan girl stalker because that behavior creeped me out, but I wish I'd done SOME research. They seem like really good and chill people, the kind of people I want to associate with and be like. I could've had a rolemodel as well as enjoying their pretty damned theraputic music.

I was literally part of the camera crew in this interview, I was an intern for work experience and I was lucky enough to be brought along. It was amazing seeing boyinaband and Linkin Park in the same room together, two figures that both massively inspire me. I was so shocked and heartbroken to find out the news about Chester so soon after that day, RIP Chester, always in our hearts.

AyuRPG aww. that's not cheesy. it's actually really kind of you to say. although my heart doesn't lie in scrambling about in music and being obsessed with 46 bands, I am a fan of Dave and i also hope one day i can meet him and just get a chance to explain how he has changed my life.
I'm somewhat similar. I'm wanting to produce some small amount of lyrical music, but I have the shittest voice for it. Dave's gotten over his problem of singing in front of an audience to some extent. Most of what I make is not released, pretty minimal instrumental electronica stuff, but I still find appeal in such a personable rapper. I don't even make rap, nor do I usually like it much, but damn is Dave's music great.
I'm so genuinely happy for Boyinaband to meet his childhood heroes, Linkin Park, it was really cool to see such a real conversation instead of a stereotypical "interview" 😊
