- Authorities say the body of a female passenger was recovered after she fell overboard from the MSC Meraviglia cruise ship heading back to Port Canaveral, Florida, after a five-day trip down to the Caribbean. WESH’s Scott Heidler reports.

I know the last guy who swam and survived was very drunk. I imagine he was playing around and climbing but was so drunk he didn’t realize what he was doing.

The railings are almost chest high all around the ship. And some areas there's double railings. You have to go through a lot to just "fall". These things are as tall as buildings. It takes a lot for an accidental fall to be honest. It's not even equipment failure, like the rails broke or anything.
is it just me or is every other cruise ship sailing dealing with at least one person overboard this year?

I get a little distraught at times when a cruise comes to an end, but not enough to jump overboard.

I feel it would be highly unlikely to just fall overboard-more like a person committed suicide or was highly intoxicated or a question of foul play! Sad that these individuals lost their lives in such a horrific way!

Exact same thing just happened in Australia
I was on this cruise in October and the captain is useless. Trust me. You can see my comment on multiple meraviglia videos. On day of boarding we were LATE. We didnt board until the afternoon. First day of Port we didn't get to ocean cay until mid day by that time many passengers excursions weren't refunded. To top it off the ship was under half full just due to the fact that MSC is trash. The crew is garbage too. I was overcharged by them and haven't yet to be paid back. The front desk are literally illiterate. They'll act like they don't know English just for you to get mad.
Would think this happens on a frequent basis. Tempting to look out and situate body to a dangerous place.
I remember many years ago when parents that didn't know how to parent would put their out of control child on a leash, might be an option.
Why isn't there more surveillance cameras, these companies make millions.
Not only offed themselves but kinda ruined the cruise for everyone else by doing that, shame on them. ☹️
For anyone who is wondering: NO ONE FALLS off a cruise ship. They either jump or do something stupid (like sitting on the chest high rails). Alcohol almost always is involved.

Fatal injuries? Did they hit a lower deck or hard hit to the water or get bur by something in the water. Why is this seemingly such a common occurrence? How hard is it to fall off a cruise ship?
Was on a cruise years ago when a man purposely jumped over the side when Security was called due to a domestic dispute. Sadly, he was never found. Condolences to the woman's family and friends.

Well at some point artificial intelligence will become smart enough that ships will have Nets that will know when a person is falling from the ship that fly out and grab the person before they drown to death or hit the water
Solutions
4 day cruise, I was on it for the 7 days before and that l 4 day cruise and every person on the ship know the name of the victim.
Since people are falling off these ships more and more, what are they doing that causes the fall. Are they climbing up on the rail or what are they doing? The last guy that fell off was drunk, so is that the usual reason. There has been one after other the last few years. There are railings all over these ships so one just doesn't fall overboard. Now this latest victim is dead.

Hey man it’s the ocean. It’s been taking folks for thousands of years and will for thousands more.
Avg people overboard per year is 25 a lot less suicide than on land.
This ship must have run aground if it entered the Mahakam river
