For the Porsche brand, the GTS badge dates back to the ‘60s, but it only became part of the 911 story 12 years ago. These days, the GTS is not only the most popular derivative in the iconic sportscar’s line-up, it’s arguably the pick of the range…
When Porsche introduced the GTS as part of the 911 line-up a little more than a decade ago, it didn’t represent much more than a late trim upgrade of the 997-generation Carrera S. It became a somewhat more established fixture in the range with the 991 model, but now, for the current 911 (992), the GTS has evolved far beyond a mid-range coupe derivative adorned with standard sportier accoutrements. In fact, given the fact that it’s currently the most popular 911 derivative, it may just represent the sweet-spot in what is a crushingly competent line-up.
For the 992-generation GTS’ South African launch, Porsche picked a Western Cape route that would see drivers cover significant distances, over varying road surfaces, long stretches of dead straight asphalt and, of course, some great twisty mountain passes. On hand were a selection of Carrera GTS (rear-wheel drive) and Carrera 4 GTS (all-wheel drive) coupes. You can also have your GTS as a Convertible (in rear- and all-wheel drive), or as a Targa (but only in all-wheel drive).
You can choose between a 4wd, rear-wheel-drive, cabriolet or Targa version of the GTS.

Loving the mixed reactions of this build. Personally I love it. I love the exposed screws on the widebody kit and the colour. I wish it was at daily driver comfort standards and not full on track-car. That 220hp is not gonna break any land speed records but is sufficient for the amateur track driver which I believe the owner is. Coming out of corners with that low end torque from the V8 should be fun.

Bro I am just as shocked, the power ruined the whole thing for me.
It sounds little by today's standards but 220bhp in these old cars is not to be scoffed at... Any more and the chassis will probably buckle under repeated acceleration; that's how light weight these cars where made back then. You'd have to strengthen the chassis too if you're looking to add another 100+ bhp. Safety standards and structures where not as stringent and bulky as they are today. And the car will happily drift all day long, no problem!
@@schlix101 yeah brotha sorry to say but you're wrong. That is a hell of a build to be cut so short by the amount of power it lacks. Turbo m20 will easily put down 300whp on stock engine and handle it really well. If anything he should just throw a mildly built na ls motor and put down double the power if the owner has to have a v8 but to each and there own.

I keep seeing these v8 builds they're not that fast.. the S engines definetly are where to go.. for speed.. they'll need 3x more tear downs then a v8 though.. lil problems occur with S/M engines

@@Phytebyte the s52 probably weighs more lol its a cast iron inline engine. V engines are lighter (which is why you dont see straight 8 engines anymore) and the 1uz is also aluminium not cast iron.

If it were my car, I'd have opted for 2x precision ball bearing turbochargers. Would have made lots more of power and a whole lot more of fun.
Turbos and superchargers have completely different power delivery and essentially serve different purposes. SC gives you instant, predictable power from idle. Plus turbo 1UZ are dime a dozen. It's not always about outright power. Driveable power is more fun more of the time
What's funny is that I was actually thinking about getting an E30 and put in a 1jz or 2jz but I thought it was crazy idea 😅😅 thank you for showing me its possible and if I run into any trouble I will contact you for guidance 🤞🏾
A bmw m50 engine is far easier to swap, you can turbo it too

Beautiful craftmanship. However, the power plant does not match the cars.
It's NOT making 170kw he prob meant to say 270 or even 370.... an the person who edited it didn't catch the mistake. There's no way it's makin 50-75hp less than it would stock wit that tvs unit on top.

@Cian Ferguson it only produces 170kw to the rear rubbers. It's not enough to match the exterior of the car. Worse those 227 ponies are produced by a V8 with a supercharger.

That engine is lazy, standard motor with a turbo could produce better power. Redo the engine to match the beauty of this car. It looks like a beast,but beast is not producing the grant.

No offense to the custom car company but that car looks really ugly! Air intake is pulling hot air from the engine bay (A common fail with "Ricers"). The wide body panels look so cheap. The colour of the car looks like someone bought a bucket of Plascon Wall paint and poured it on. The interior would actually look better without all that overkill aluminium. In an accident those aluminium plates will probably end up impaling the driver. Just my 2 scents and each to his own but the rest of the comments below seems to agree with my sentiment.
