- Longthorpe Tower has some of the best medieval wall paintings in Northern Europe - they are almost 700 years old - incredible to see. Moving forward many hundreds of years it was also used as a look out tower during World War II as it was actually one of the highest points in Peterborough

Longthorpe Tower is located here about 2 miles from the centre of Peterborough and very close to the A1
It is a medieval Tower built by a lawyer around 1290 to 1300 with the paintings dating from about 1330.
Longthorpe Tower was built during the reign of Edward I or Edward Longshanks as he was also known. The paintings were during the reign of his grandson King Edward III
