Hey I wanna say as a woman I was able to change my brakes and I didn't have a c clamp but used two brake pads and pushed with a flat head and metal bar and it went in. I was stuck in a parking lot and changed it myself. Thank you so much for this video.
Nice 👍!! Good job!!!! Yup u got that trick to compress the caliper!!
The best clear concise instruction that could ever be. Great job! I have a 2019 Hyundai Creta, and am doing mine soon. Thanks again. Great mechanic
Thanks man, I checked back on this video a few times while changing my pads. You helped me out.
Nice job doing it yourself
Awsome video! I just changed my brake pads for the first time in my life...and I'm damn near 60! Thank you!
Good job!!!
Brother you don’t understand how much God has used you to help me out! Blessings, grace, and Peace to you my guy 🕊️🙏🏽🕊️ 🫡
Thank you for the blessing!!! Always here to help
The best demonstration I have seen yet. Thank you
Yup thank you
@@RBTheMechanic I have a 2018 Elantra and the button on the door to unlock from the outside doesn't work. What could be the problem?
@@hey-sugah what?
@@RBTheMechanic the little black button on the door handle to unlock it with out hitting the key fob is not working. What could it be?
Thanks! Dont forget to take the brake resevoir cap off first thing
Good tip
Yep! Did that first thing. I put a paper towel over the reservoir opening and tucked it down around the sides. First compression of the passenger side didnt see any spillage but the driver side compression saw about maybe an ounce or two spill over and the towel caught all of it. Once I was ready to put the tires back on, torque everything down, lower the car off the jackstands, i put the reservoir cap back on then. Started the car up and had only had to pump the brake pedal 1 time, 2nd time to make sure.
Good and clear instruction, thanks very much for making this video.
Hi RB, I came across your video and I must say that you did a wonderful job explaining the process. My wife's 2018 Elantra needs front brakes done and your video will be a big help. Thanks!
Cool no problem
Update me if u do, do it urself and double check all of ur work also pump the brake peddle once’s ur all completed before staring the engine
@@RBTheMechanic everything went well and thanks for the tip.
@@DiscoDave3 no problem!!
RB, great video! Helpful & accurate, with loads of useful info for every step of the process. I did mi esposa's 2019 Elantra SE front brakes today. Car was at almost 90k miles and it's her daily driver; 38 miles each way, 2/3 highway and 1/3 city stop & go. The passenger side brake was first and it took me from 9am til 1230pm to do that. Took my time, did it right. Driver side? Maybe 45 mins total! Test drive went perfect. No pulling to one side. No noise. I took it up to 50 and did a hard stop - no problemo!
Almost forgot to add, I love repairing my own stuff. It saves me a ton of money and gives a great sense of accomplishment & independence. Doing my own minor car repairs has enabled me to know when a repair shop is full of BS and trying to rip me off or if they're being straight up with me. A local shop quoted me $250 for front brake pads alone and I'd have to leave the car all day, requiring me to use a vacation day. Instead I ordered a set of premium Raybestos pads for $40 and saved $210! Thank You RB!
Oh nice job!!!
Simple and straight to the point, thank you!
Yup easy peazy
My man!!! One of the better instructional videos I've seen !! Thank you!
Yup thank you!! I try to make it straight to the point
Awesome step by step video very easy to understand the words he says and gave me confidence to try and do the repair
Yup !! Thank u!!
Is it hard to replace a rotor on 2019 hyundai elantra
@@gregorygiraldo9015 front no should be 40 minutes job!! Rear bit diffrent some are electric
Great video, did this yesterday after watching your video. If the wheels and rotors came off quickly, I could have knocked out both sides in 10 minutes.
Great job! Yeah this is simple and easy!!
Bada Bing Bada Boom! Great job, clear instruction, very efficient video.
Yup thank u bro
Thanks. I know how to change brakes on the 2 cars I had in the past, but I got a hyundai and I went to purchase brake pads and I was confused what the extra parts were lol. Good job, looks easy.
Yup
Awesome video everything went smoothly. Thanks for saving me a ton of money.
Glad it helped!
Thanks brother
You were very helpful.
Mission accomplished 👍.
Welcome!!
Do you suggest a tiny bit of brake grease on the shims?
Yup
Excellent instructions! Thank you!
great video. But, why did the guy decide to change the pads? the old brake pads seemed to be good.
Noise and customer requested it
@@RBTheMechanic Thanks for letting me know.
Great job. Thank you for the tips
Great video. I had a piston plate that went over the pad and forgot to put it on. How crucial is that? Never seen one been years since i did brakes. Also i big c clamp works on the piston for all non pros btw. Again great video to refresh my memory tx bruh
Piston plate?
Its a thin piece of metal that clips to the back of the pad where the piston meets the pad.
@@DeeeeSnutz oh that shim shouldn’t be issue
Just subbed bruh! Mi hermano de Philly
Thank you very good straight to it
Yup
Looks easy thx
thank you so much nice video
Is it necessary to press the piston? I am trying to change my brakes myself and I dang sure don’t have a compressor lol
Yes it need to be pushed to make room for new one. Go buy $20 c clamp 🗜
Ive used c-clamp on another brake job and worked well too. But YES do put something between the clamp head and the piston so that it doesn’t deform piston. Old brake pad is perfect idea (& handy too 👍). Nice video!!!
@@craigabt1808 yes; use one of the old brake pads as a shim between the c-clamp and the piston ring. Easy Peasy.
Do you know if it's the brake pads and/or rotors that cause your wheel to sound like it wiggles when you go on certain bumpy roads or over a pothole? Lol the shop I went to couldn't figure it out. I had a camber bolt replaces and had me wheels and axle aligned. But none of that fixed the problem. I already know I need to replace the brake pads AND rotors. Which I will do that soon.
Well I don’t think it’s related the brakes but change then since u need it replace going over impacts the struts so that’s where ur issue is possibility struts
@@RBTheMechanic and it is the front passenger if that helps.
@@RBTheMechanic But thank you for the reply. I will go to a different mechanic and mention having a look at the struts & shocks. I didn't even thing of the shock absorbers.
You pulled up on the rachet on the drivers side to loosen the bolt. Do you push down n the bolt on the passenger side?
Yup
@@RBTheMechanic thanks
My brake pads are splitting apart when trying to put retainers, any advice?
U have to hold it with one hand
Not resurfacing the rotor?
Nope more cheaper and better to replace them with new one but this job it’s not needed rotors still good!
I do not have a compression tool.. any suggestions?
U can use screwdriver while it’s on the car u can go inside and push up against the pad and compress it here’s a video somthing similar to this different setup tho ua-cam.com/video/eBh3N6-t2N0/v-deo.html
Amazing Video..Thank you so much
Pleas make more videos like this
Will do
Thank you for the class really helpful !!!
Welcome!!
My brake indicator was on the bottom, not the top. Does it matter?
If it’s original brake su took of go by that
Thanks!
Welcome!
Great video
Any alternative compress tool?
U can use pry bar to compress or c clamp
Awesome video.
Awesome!
14mm, that's all I needed to know
Lol cool
@@RBTheMechanic I'll probably be back to see where all those clips go though 🤣
Dont you have to bleed the breaks after replacing the pads?
No we didn’t remove any fluid like components only we compressed the pistons so just pump brake brake peddle 4-5 times once job is completed
@@RBTheMechanic Gotcha
@@RBTheMechanic When I pump the brakes 5 times will break fluid overflow?
@@starttofinishpodcasting3721 no ur pumping it back in to retract the piston to grand the pads to rotor
Never sewn that ttpe of piston reset tool looks like a caulk gun.
Yeah
Great job but those brake pads are absolute trash. Okebono or OEM, not auto parts store junk.
Yeah all parts aftermarket suck I been putting original starters alternators
Hey I want to let you know this video immensely helped me a lot life saver CHINGON!
Good job
