If ever I am in need of a generator I surly will purchase it the noise level is just like a lawnmower I never really think of owning a generator but living in Buffalo NY is something to think about thanks for this video I really do learn useful information specially since I am a home owner now💙
Hey great job on the video. I just received the same generator in exchange for a video but they didn’t send the manual. You hit all the points they requested I discuss. Great help as I prepare my quick review video as I wait for the manual to arrive
You can run generators in eco mode while powering your things. The stepper motor on the carb will automatically adjust engine speed for the load requirements.
😬oh boy... i don't know... Like i said, I don't recommend it, but when it comes down to my family or my pipes freezing I will do what it takes. Just not sure about showing other people... I appreciate you checking out the video!
A 10KW automatic standby generator is something I've considered getting a number of times (usually after a good storm and the power goes out), but when they upgraded the local substation for all the new construction it became less of a concern. BUT, my wife and I will retire to a beachfront home located on Hood Canal, and services are a bit dicey. The generator will be one of those things installed before winter the first year, but I've also considered also getting a powerwall to go along with it. Of course, the very first thing we'll install is a whole-house water filter. It's one of those things I can't believe my MIL didn't have done when she had the place built.
Premium gas? I see this all the time, people think that because it says "Premium" it's better than regular, is not "better" it's different. The levels of gas are for levels of engines. Some need 87 octane and others need 92 octane. The difference is that cars that need 92 octane have a higher compression ratio (which is why they "knock" if you use lower octane gas). In fact, using higher octane in engines that do not require it means that the engine does not burn all the fuel which will leave carbon deposits in the engine. I'm sure if you check with some fuel engineers (which I did years ago) they will say the same thing.
yes! Using alcohol-free engine's like this. The gas should also have stable in it in case you leave it set for a long time. Always run the carburetor out of gasoline before you store it
In my opinion the higher octane is better for the small engines, because the ethanol is 0 to minimal and the rings in the engine are smaller and the ethanol does damage because it dosent burn as hot so why small engines fail mostly is because of gas with ethanol that’s why he is recommending higher octane gas ethanol free is ideal for longer engine life.
I do not own a generator, yet but when I do get one I want an open inverter generator in the 4.0 KW range. Enclosed generators might have a slight boost when it comes to initial sound dampening but when the engine revs up the sound difference between enclosed and open generators becomes negligible. The real difference comes in cost and maintenance. Less plastic, less price and easier to get to the parts.
Awesome video, would be cool to see what it can power in a home during an outage or storm. Literally as I'm watching this we still have no power from a massive storm that hit Northern CA, I'm looking to upgrade from my Honda eu2000i. Great video thanks for the review.
Thanks for the video. We ordered one after viewing your video and it arrived but no instruction manual in the box. If you know how to contact them I would really appreciate it as they do not answer the 800 phone number on the shipping container. Have not tried to start it up yet.
So we leave in CT and I’m looking for a generator myself. Can never be to sure with what’s been going on. Would you recommend this for maybe a small portable heater and a refrigerator? We have solar generators for like our phones but I don’t know what to do for the other appliances
Premium gasoline acutally has MORE ethanol in it, and there reason we have the different grades today is for cars that have higher compression or not.... the correct fuel for most yard equipment is ethanol free gasoline which is usually 90 octane. Ethanol in gasoline in the formulation used in the USA causes premature corrosion and seal failure, as well as water absorption. Other countries have switched to hydrous ethanol + gasoline and this actually has much less of these effects but as far as I know we haven't in the US. Ethanol in the US is used as an octane booster in poor quality distillate fuels.
Great video!. However there is one bit of information I'd like to correct. Premium fuel is only better if you're running it in a high compression / high rpm engine. This is because the only difference between high and low octane fuel is the resistance to pre mature ignition or "detonation" in the cylinder. This generator is likely uses a low compression engine so using high octane / premium fuel in it will have exactly zero effect on the performance or longevity of the engine. HOWEVER! using ethanol free fuel makes a huge impact on the life span of carbureted engines. Fuel containing ethanol absorbs moisture from the air and if left in the tank for long periods of time will corrode and destroy your carburetor. I would go as far as saying using gas containing ethanol #1 killer of small engines. Trust me go ethanol free for anything carbureted!!!!
That generator you just displayed, I'm curious on using 3 space heaters and a refrigerator and sometimes our cellphones. how much watts use does it show ? And my laptop
The Fixer: Terrific review. I want you to know that I bought this generator bc of your video. It's scheduled within a few days. Q: can you keep this generator going overnight, to keep the refrigerator going if the power grid goes out for a few days? (I know you said it has 22 run hours @ 50%). Thanks!
Subscribed! If you haven't already, there's several smartphone decibel meter apps available. Probably not as good as a purpose built unit, but it would give you a fair idea.
Hey, Ivan! I hate storing gas too! I will prob leave about a quarter tank in the generator with the fuel line shutoff. I figure worst case scenario, the gas goes bad, I can fill the rest with new gas and it should run after it mixes. When I do store my cans I store them in my shed with the little vent open on the can and the window in my shed open. Please note, all of this might not be the “correct” way. It is just what I do.
I know this stable makes a hell of a difference in gasoline. I always run the the carburetors empty on anything I can including lawn mowers and weed wackers. Non-alcohol gas if you can get it makes a difference
I honestly don’t remember… did it come with oil? I don’t really have a preference of an oil brand. Some people do but I think for something like this generator any brand will do as long as it is the recommended viscosity.
I just tried mine this weekend and it drips oil out of the crankcase housing. This is coming from the opposite side of the oil dipstick. The other side is 100% open with no cap or anything in mine.... in other words it's a spot if you put the dipstick on the opposite side of the engine... except that site is not threaded and on mine it's wide open and any vibration makes oil kind of splatter out
The ac line frequency only effects inductive or capacitive loads like anything that has an ac induction motor. "Sensitive devices" like TVs, computers do not give a shit about frequency or distortion, waveform.. all they care about is the rms voltage & if it's in their oparating range it will function without any problem. Many modern heatpumps have inverters in them which is a very similar module like the one in this generator. The stator here makes 3 phase ac at veriable voltage and frequency, the inverter module immediately takes that ac and turns into dc then it has large capacitor to smooth that rectified dc then it had a H bridge of igbt or mosfets that is controlled by an spwm generator and it makes the ac with really high frequency square wave and pulse width modulation, that voltage is filtered by a choke and capacitor to make it smooth sinewave. Likewise in inverter air conditioners the input mains is converted to dc and then same spwm and this time a 3 phase array of 6 fets or igbts are used to make 3phase ac and this time the swpm frequency is adjusted by the thermostat to increase or decrease compressor rpm thus adjusting cooling power.
When you plugged in all of the things did the vacuum and air compressor keeps all of its power I am wondering if this good for detailing business anyone know?
2 deputies were running one of these in the garage with the door open. If the wind moves against the open garage it killed both deputies a father and son as it moved the gas inside the house. This happened to my sister in a marina as the wind pushed the gas inside the boat. She lived but the male doctor she was with did not and she suffered with the consequences the rest of her life, shortening her life.
3 dollars for a gallon prime gas. Damn thats cheap! A gallon is 4,8 liters, we pay here, in Europe ( Netherlands) 1. 80 euro a liter, thats 8, 46 euro a gallon. 8.46 euro is 9 dollar 98. I know........
I've been doing that for about 8 years. I got into it very cheap and by accident. I have a camper in a remote area and it always has a couple charge batteries when I get there. I need the generator for one at 6 extremely cold there and we want some heaters and the furnace going. I can get by without electricity to heat using the propane infrared heaters but the furnace is better and safer
I do not know why people who test a products tip-toe around like it might break you give us the low down on frequency and then won t load the generator till a breaker trips that's like firing a gun for the first time at a charging grizzly the thing either works or it doesn't the big thing is always and a/c start up load SO if you serious about a review and not a con job plug hot plates one after the other in to it kicks the breaker that's a review that would make sense
All of these reasonably priced inverters are made in China= lesser grade metals, wiring, plastics brittle and rubber will crack . Do yourself a favor, get aftermarket E3 plug, magnetic dipstick change the coil wire, adjust the valve lash at break in oil change, use fuel stabilizer & marvel, blue lock tite all nuts. Bolts & screws, rubber mount the gastank & install an inline fuel filter and add an hour meter.

Good video I would recommend starting the generator once a month and let it run approximately 15-20 minutes because you don’t want gas to get unstable
I highly recommend people switch the spark plug from this generator to a e3 22 makes the generator run smoother and longer!
