This is actually pretty amazing, I didn’t think it would be that interesting but Brando really picks Cavett apart, given we now know Cavett struggled with depression, Brando could see that Cavett was playing a part and putting on a show/character for the tv camera and pointing that out made Cavett uncomfortable
I'm impressed at Brando pointing out that Dick Cavett is playing a character named "Dick Cavett." That is, that Cavett is as much a performer as Brando is. 🤔
Absolutely correct! Cavett has always struck me as someone who is playing the part of an intellectual in a production. This is another way of saying that he is a phoney .
@@kevinmadden1645 I appreciate how many renowned people who avoided being interviewed were happy to appear on his shows. At the same time, Cavett himself would probably be a lousy guest. Someone - I forget who - described him as an amazing combination of arrogance and insecurity. Best wishes from Vermont 🍁🧡🍁
Ya don't often see Brando having fun with someone or laughing and smiling. But you actually get to see a little of that here and I wish he showed that side of himself more often. He was always so intense and seemed put off by the rest of the world, almost as if he just did not want to be here on this Earth. Luckily he did not seem that way here. At least the majority of the time...lol!
If Cavett was ever in a protagonist in a film film, could he make as interesting of a part in his role as Brando? I think if he had had a really good director, in spite of his professed inability to act, he'd have been able to be some kind of an oscar winning star, since he has this certain outward charm that comes from a hidden inner depression that could make just as dynamic a character in a film as a Brando protagonist, that's what I think Brando was trying to say. Not necessarily to pick him apart but say that Cavett ought to think of himself more highly as someone who actually, given the luck of opportunity Brando had, could have been a star like Brando was just as easily as he found it to be.
By this point in time, Brando had lost his interest in films -- except for making some $$ bread -- and was involved in the plight of the Native Americans -- or the American Indian Movement.
Brando's intensity and sincerity are jarring in the best sense of the word To
Intelligent conversation on late evening talk shows. What a great concept!
This exchange is mesmerising.

His point was that everyone plays a role.
Brando is a much needed person in today's world
A lot of women he knew would disagree with you.
Gold Television, nothing less...

brando changed my life more than any other person outside my parents, sadly
Brando strikes me as a very interesting man, other than a great actor. Probably a perfect pal to hang out with.

Brando and Cavett went out together after this show and hung out.

My idol
guy was waaaaaaaaaaaaay deep. wow.
This gives credence to 'All the world is a stage and we are merely actors'
Wonderful

A Monster of a Man.

Funny guy
"We act 🎬 to save our lives" Yes ...especially when a Tarantesaurus Rex is chasing you 😅 🦖🦖🦖

Brandon, in his job, ruminates repeatedly on how to "deliver" the lines along with body language. Dick "reacts" more akin to "improv".
He is literally me
he talks kinda like truman capote..
THAT NASAL VOICE IS IS DREADFUL, ESPECIALLY FOR AN ACTOR.
There are much better interviews on my channel.
Sure did avoid talking about the movie that he literally r@ped a young woman who later committed suicide because of it.
Neither of those things is true.
Was Brando high or something here?
