I came to this video thinking "I wonder what warm-ups Carolina Crown played?" When I got here I found out they did the exact same warmups my high school pit did. I think our tech watched this video before I did...
I played this in HS as our ensemble warm up and it was so much fun banging out to this. We played piero umiliani - crepuscolo sul mare, made our own music for Korn - freak on a leash, and we even made up our own music for the walking dead theme song. Great memories.
The song is a transcription of Beethoven's Bagatelle No. 25 in A minor, or more commonly known as "Für Elise." Aaron, the Timpani player transcribed the piece in F minor himself.
What is the name of that last song? I'm a principal timpani player in my school's concert band and that would be a great warmup and/or performance piece for me
Or whatever position he is--you all know who I am talking about!!! Does anyone remember the UA-camr who used the name "ThatWasSexyPit" ??? Definitely a sexy pit that year!
i wish we had a pit to take to games... unfortunately only one of our marimbas has a field frame and it's the most untransportable one. not to mention that we don't even have enough mallet instruments to be heard over our band.
some absolute chads in this video

The song is called "Not the Same" By Ben Folds :)
Someone really liked Ben Folds this year.
4:07 - Bass lines may be impressive, snare lines may be clean...this is pure GENIUS...

All the songs:
1. Not the Same by Ben Folds
2. You to Thank by Ben Folds
3. Fur Elise by Beethoven

Their warm-ups sound like a show...
My pit is doing the first warmup. It's pretty awesome
FOR ANYONE WHO'S WONDERING, I'm not sure where to find the music, but the warm up is call "Not the Same"
Could someone hypothetically use that timpani solo as a recital piece?
Personally my favorite part of this video is the battery playing football in the background haha

Me
@@Mason_Stinky i forgot i commented this
YOU WHERE NOT THE SAME AFTER THAT
Neat timpani work.
Timpani though. Wow.
I like most of Crown's warm-ups are songs that they can jam to.
Well I just showed this to Ben folds over Reddit.
+HipieofBSA nice! did he respond?
+Vic Firth Sadly, no. I was a bit too late for his question block.
Ben Folds - Not The Same
Also, you can find this arrangement not the same by just googling "Rhythm X Not the same"

I wish I could find the sheet music to that timpani part at the end.

Does anyone know how to get the score for the first warmup?
Do the rack players have written parts?
Yes, usually it's improvised
The singing in not the same made me real happy
Were culd i get the warmup music
were could i get this sheet music
my pit learned "not the same" today (: sounds super awesome actually being able to play it (:
What do the pedals on the timpani do ? Make the note sharp, I'm guessing ?
Change the note
Omega_Ronan the timpani drums each have a full range of notes it can play. The pedal adjusts the tension on the head to change the note.
@LunaMayRussell Ben Folds, not the same
2:18 and that's another FIRST DOWN!!
this just makes my hands hurt.
I'm addicted to this! Plus, it's great to learn from them, considering I'm in pit at my high school :p
Same
That kid on the vibes is gonna get so sunburned...
Who says pit is lame??? This Is Awesome!
Not the Same by Ben Folds

How ya’ll gonna use Heaven as a warm up 😂

The written parts were a skeleton. The majority played in the video was not written.
didn't crossmen do this as a warmup in 2009?
Not the same
Ben Folds!!!! YESSS.... i'm not even a mallet player but this makes me want to learn it.
Hottest marimba players I've ever seen!
It's a Ben Folds tune. It actually has words.
