This made my Port Harcourt boy heart float with joy. Haven't been home in a while.
Bole is basically roasted yams or plantains (sometimes potatoes) covered with spicy, fried tomato/pepper sauce. Fish (Port Harcourt staple), vegetables and other sides may be added to it. Very customisable dish.
Port Harcourt (AKA The Garden City) is the capital city of Rivers state, so seafood is big business; oil too. It's a major city that is constantly developing, and brimming with potential and opportunities.
Once known as the "Kidnapping Capital of Nigeria", efforts were made to boost security, leading to inhibition of such criminal activities. Things have definitely improved since I left for school, but you can never be too careful. Get a guide, don't flaunt dollar bills or stand out too much as a foreigner, don't wander around alone or at night, visit more sophisticated or developed sites and areas; avoid rural or ghetto areas.
There's so much fun to be had in the Garden City, and I'm sure more fun places will have cropped up by the time you visit if you decide to.

Port Harcourt is in the Southern most part of Nigeria, and in Nigeria the more south you go the more greenery it is. And landsize wise it's bigger than Lagos but has about 4 times less the population of Lagos (which is about 12 million less people) do there's a lot of unused spaces that are still covered with trees and stuff

Port Harcourt is the third major city in Nigeria. Nigeria is so diverse that you can never get enough of every region. We have 37 major cities which Port Harcourt comes third to Lagos and Abuja. Port Harcourt is the Hub of the oil industry in Nigeria. There are many thriving businesses and the city keeps growing. The thumbnail "dangerous" is a bit unfair because security issues are just overblown in the media. People are thriving and getting along their daily routine normally, and there are thousands of foreigners like Europeans who work in the oil sector, Syrians and Lwbanese in the construction, Indians in retail, other West Africans hustling in fashion' construction labour etc. Port Harcourt is a home for many.

@Ochie Godfrey "major city" not "largest city". & I believe that is absolutely correct. The other state, which could arguably be listed as third, would be Kano. However, it appears Port Harcourt has blazed past Kano by far. By just looking at the Air Passenger Traffic statistics of Port Harcourt & Kano, Port Harcourt has gone ahead. This means that more people are coming to Port Harcourt to do business. & if you look at IGR, Rivers comes in 2nd to Lagos State. Port Harcourt is also better covered by the media just after Lagos & Abuja. For example, more people will be able to mention musicians, entertainers, politicians, etc from Lagos & Port Harcourt before other cities.

Port Harcourt is my home and I prefer it more than lagos
Lagos I've been to, but too crowded for my liking.

@@TheDemouchetsREACT it depends on what you consider as family oriented
If it's for outgoing activities with kids
All port Harcourt or Rivers State has is
The pleasure park , zoo , polo club , cinemas and shop rite , port Harcourt mall and lots of fast food joints .
Bukers ( like where they were eating in the video) and street hawkers or sellers of food , fruits and ice cream.
I just prefer here because it's less populated but things are expensive ,
Notwithstanding if I wasn't here I would prefer Enugu state as more family oriented

Sorry Guys, the question should be:
Is Chicago South-Side more dangerous than South-Central LA?
We in Nigeria experience some issues of criminality, just like many other countries do.
In London its knife-crime, in the USA where the police are fully kitted and heavily armed, its record Gun-Crime.
But the main bad headlines are particularly given to our part of of the world.
Looking around the World.... Safety is Relative.
