What happens when the Bishops and the Pope disagree? Does the Supreme Pontiff have the last say? Thanks.

I find many different explanations from Catholics of the deposit of faith. One popular point of view is that the deposit of Faith ended with the death of the last apostle, John. Other views contradict this and say that the deposit of Faith continues on through the Pope and the bishops. Which is it?

The apostolic succession (links) was already broken when the many popes and bishops conmitted sins and went against God's words. Even the scripture and tradition changed as time passes. It's like an electric wire that is broken or short-circuited. It cannot transmit power anymore.

Jesus condemned the placing of tradition above the Word of God. He gave NO ONE the authority to supersede God's Word. There is no Biblical support for an apostolic succession. This is something made up by the catholic church to support it's hold on the people and give weight to it's authority. They gave more importance to the philosophy of men than to the teachings of Jesus.

The canon of the Bible was closed nearly four centuries after the death of Christ. There was no Bible for the first 300+ years of the Church. How did Christians during that time live their faith? The answer is tradition. Tradition also decided on what the Official books of the Bible were to be.

When everyone determines the meaning of scripture, we get 1,000 Protestant congregations teaching different things, we get tens of thousands of non-denominational churches teaching variants of Baptist, Evangelical, and Episcopal teachings.
      We get, anarchy.
The first Pope is descended from the apostle Paul, who directly learned from Jesus.

@@dennisjump8655 The Church does not "place tradition above Gods word". The Catholic church believes that scripture is the preeminent standard of truth. Sacred tradition and sacred scripture are two ways Gods word is expressed. Jesus condemned erroneous tradition that made Gods word void, but the bible also tells us to hold fast to good traditions. (2 Thessalonians 2:15), (1 Corinthians 11:2).

@@matthewodonnell6495 Paul is talking about about traditions which HE had taught them. What traditions could possibly have existed in such an early church? The good news that he preached to them, obviously. Possibly his counsel on Christian living, as well as the conducting of meetings, appointing overseers, etc. But you are correct, the Lord condemned "traditions of men" that superseded or invalidated God's Word. Those take time. There is no such term as "sacred tradition" in the Bible and anything that comes into vogue and is passed down can be labeled as such.
The Catholic church has gone far beyond harmless traditions; it is rife with tradition and ritual. Just 2 outright examples include repeating the same prayers over and over again (which Jesus condemned), counting on beads, calling their clergy Father (which Jesus expressly forbid) Matthew 23:9. Of course, they have excuses for doing this, just as the Pharisees of Jesus' day did. Yet they are undeniably disobeying Jesus direct commands, placing tradition over the Bible.

The pope and bishops and clergy may be the authority of the church. And Bill Donahue is a true Apostle of God and high priest.
Do you want to go the way of the church or the way to God.
