Well I'd love to take the credit, but honestly I have no idea of how that did that but it did come out pretty well! LOL. My daddy always said it's better to be lucky than good! Thanks for comment! Best, Dan
I grew up in the keys spear fishing with George rocket, you my friend are an expert, love watching your videos, brings back so many memories. Keep the videos coming , can’t get enough. Stay safe.
Thanks Tommy! I never met George but have heard his name quite a few times over the years. Really glad you're enjoying the videos! I'll def be posting more as soon as we get a weather window! Best, Dan
@@danmacmahon3973 yeah Dan, you and George rocket jr have the same style of diving, you may have seen some videos of his son on UA-cam, his name is slinging steel. Steel rocket. The kid is good, it runs in the family. Thanks for taking time to respond, congratulations on your success on UA-cam. Well deserved!
Ben, thanks! You just never really know whats going to happen on any dive. I've always really enjoyed the "unknown" aspect of diving. If you wanna know, you gotta go! Thanks for watching. Best, Dan
Awesome vid again! I keep dreaming of a middle grounds trip, but the weather window hasn’t worked out. And my favorite local captain Father Chris and Deacon Carrington of the Good News Charters haven’t worked it out. Please mention this and lay the “father” part thick please😆

Another sweet vid. Thanks for the great content. Can you please tell me about your slip on powerhead holder that's on the end of the gun? How'd you make it/what's it made of? I usually put them in my wetsuit sleeve, then forget about them, drop them on the deck when getting out of the wetsuit, etc. I have the threaded kill spike for my beco, but it's slow to deploy and heavy. Thanks again for the great content.
Tom, I bought a rubber block from Northern Tool (#B-516). Really good material and has lasted many years and will last many more. Works great as a one PH or two PH holder design. Right where you need it, when you need it. You'll love it. Remember to set tolerances when it's wet, not dry. You want it loose enough to easily pull out but tight enough not to fall out on its own. Let me know if I can help, would be glad to. Best, Dan
Kevin, yes it's a home made gun. There are several companies thought that make extra spear holding kits. I think Ocean Rhino has them. Thanks for watching, Best, Dan
Hello Dan, which flashlight are you using on this dive, I need to buy a quality flashlight like yours, thank you friend! Greetings from Rio de Janeiro.
Hey Tony, I buy inexpensive lights made in China. Here's an Ebay item # to them, #133230799922. I use the Panasonic 26650 batteries. Also, check and make sure the bezel is tight because sometimes they aren't. Best, Dan
Aidan, I don't but check in with the Tampa Bay Spearfishing Club (TBSC) or the Saint Pete Underwater Club (SPUC). I'm sure they'll know of some. Best, Dan

Sweet video , Dan if you were looking for a new speargun set-up and didn't want to built one , what would you look at ? I was looking at the KOAH 55" or 58" battle-axe gun . But I'm looking for an around gun . Thanks for you're help . Jason.
T50, I don't know too much about the current guns on the market but I've had some great conversations with the Koah guys at the Blue Wild and was really impressed with their stuff. If you're going to free shaft, my advice would be to def get a model that can properly handle a 60" shaft and that's the magic length for free shafting. Best, Dan
RK, I haven't done one yet but am planning on doing one this winter. The trigger is an american mech reverse trigger from Neptonics and the Spears are from Rob Allen. Appreciate you watching. Best, Dan

I love the intermittent slow motion added in.
It creates a second of suspense thinking a shark is coming to get you.

Are Mangrove snapper the most angry fish after they are shot, or what?!?
how deep was this? Im new to scuba and spearfishing so im very curious
