- The Cliff Hanger Trail in Moab does just that... hangs on the edge of a cliff! The trail is rated a +4/5 and is an in and out (total of 8.5 miles) and has numerous rock ledges and drop-offs. I first became aware of the route 20 years ago when I had a rock-crawling truck. Over the last few years, I've wanted to ride it on an ADV bike but wasn't able to make it happen until this March.
I was joined by Andy from Heavy Enduro (T7), Seth from Utah Enduro Adventures (890R), and "Manitoba Charles" (500EXC). I was riding the Camel ADV T7. We got it done but not without some excitement along the way!

As a T7 owner, I love to see what they can do in the rights hands. All 4 of you are very skilled, and clearly willing to bash your bikes around some sketchy terrain.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a great day with amazing people!
I am totally speechless taking heavy adv bikes in to such terrain! Had to watch this over several days as I thought i was going to die on several occasions there. Utterly impressed.
Resale value after this ride -$4200.00 Fun factor PRICELESS!! GREAT JOB FELLAS !
I bought it to ride it resale never factors into decisions for this bike. We have 4 other Camel bikes at the shop that are pristine, not a scratch. Resale is important on those ones.
In awe of the original trail builders
I swear...you guys are skilled and a little crazy...good video...
Beautiful scenery thats for sure!
Total animals, you guys can ride there's no arguing that! Maybe one of the most compelling videos I've seen tempting me to get a T7. Yamaha should sponsor this vid.
That was fun to watch . Great skills and teamwork . That narrow section with the death drop is no joke .
Yeah... it's a bit sketchy in spots for sure!
No way ! Craziest trail I've seen anywhere. I've watched my share of off-road videos. Not even Chris Birch has anything to hold up against Cliff Hanger Trail. Should be rated +10. Looks more difficult that any Romaniacs Enduro course. I would think maybe one in a million riders can do this on a small 300cc or 500cc four stroke. But, no way on big KTM 890 ADV bikes.
A+++ and give an Academy Award to whoever spent the time and effort to capture the footage despite the challenges. 🏆
ya'll are studs, no way around it. I'm an advanced rider, and that trail is a damn handful on a 500, kudos & respect!
Great video! I appreciate you guys showing the falls and repairs as well as the obstacles you made look easy, a lot of video creators don't show anything but the highlights.
Bailing wire, hose clamps and zip ties. The Holy Trinity of roadside repairs. 😊
I found this video after purchasing some Camel ADV products. I’ve ridden this on a KTM 450 EXC and it was a challenge. This video puts me right back there. No way I would try this on my T7! These guys are total studs and totally change my preconception of “adventure bikes”. I bought mine to take it easy ;)
It was a fun trail... definitely challenging!
Just came across your channel, mind blowing. You guys are a real deal. Love the footpeg hack. Thanks for amazing footages from multiple angles and showing the real struggle.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Hard to imagine a better advert for those 200 kilo machines! They're great because after a very hard day's rock hopping, you've got a very comfy ride home!
That was some kind of awesome trail repair. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 and the way you handle that T7 is expert. Me thinks it was a good idea that I turned my Gladiator around that day at the creek for sure. Thanks Cory for the shout out and graphic at the beginning. Another happy and very satisfied T7 Camel ADV customer! 😜
It's funny, just after I broke the peg I was thinking, "If it gets really bad, maybe I can toss my bike in the back of Brian's Jeep!". We kept expecting to see you creeping along the trail.
balls the size of saturn you guys!!!! to take those bikes over that track!!!!no way i could have done it!!!and seeing the ohlins t7 deflecting off everthing (probably works amazing the other 99.9%of your trip!) and choosing to run alloy instead of steel footpegs (in that enviorment!!)..wow....and the drone footage deserves another wow too!!!great stuff gentlemen!!!!
Andy was stilling tuning the suspension on his bike. He was getting ready for the Biltwell desert race the next weekend. It's tough to get a bike set-up for all environments. If I was riding in that terrain regularly, steel pegs would definitely be on the bike. That's the first peg I've ever broken in 15yrs of doing dumb stuff on ADV bikes... that was after 2yrs of abuse.
Solid commitment to ride the big bikes into that terrain, love it!
It was a good time. We all enjoy trying harder rides and advancing our skills.
That is some crazy and skilled riding.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
You guys are great riders! I’ve done this trail on a mountain bike but I’d never try it on my dirt bike after watching this. Excellent video guys!
We all had a great day. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I salute your skill,perseverance and lunacy😂
Nice Team Work!
Teamwork indeed! It was a great group.
I would of tapped out at 5 minute mark, impressive!
One of the guys tapped out a few minutes in. Andy rode back out with him to make sure he got to the trailhead. It's admirable to know your limitations and tap out before you get in a bad situation.
Dudes, you are absolutely insane, they are like wild ram, mi respect...
Man that cruxing crux !!! Well done, right on the edge of that cliff, hairy stuff
You guys bottomed out so much, those skid plates are amazing not to mention that foot peg repair under normal conditions sure it would of held up just fine
Thanks for sharing, I have learnt so much watching you guys today as that all I can do is live vicariously due to a broken ankle doing something similar to you in the Aussie bush
I rode home 40km in the bush with a broken tibia
There is something about doing this sort of riding that people who don't understand
It gets in your blood that's for sure
Fun vid. As a 990 rider who has loved putting big bikes in small places since 2008, I appreciate the effort, commitment and skill needed to pull off a ride on this trail (that I know well). with those bikes (less the 230lb EXC) While my days of dragging, grinding and bulldogging 500lb bikes up those steps are far behind me, I do thoroughly enjoy watching you guys work your a$$s off in the desert while I drink a cold beer in the shade and ponder my next ride in the forest. Keep it up! :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved watching never want to go riding with you blokes on big bike
You guys are hard core! It’s good to see adventure riders actually show what bikes can do, especially ones like the Tenere 700 that’s seldom seen in such extreme riding conditions. A thousands likes👍👍👍👍👍
You guys are mad men!
So I've been told!
Awesome job on fixing that peg!!!
Gotta love the EXC, brilliant bikes
Absolutely insane on those big bikes! And with only one footpeg! Well done!
I would have preferred two pegs for sure! That breakage added an extra layer of...fun?!
Bloody well done lads! This is the type of thrill/excitement as well as camaraderie we love to see! Well done sir, well done!
It was a good team building exercise for sure!
Maniacs! I think I ride rhe T7 hard and then a watch this video and humble myself.
pretty gnarly man hell of a ride
Awesome stuff!
Chapeau! I would have shit my pants. To see what a T7, with a fantastic driver, can be is amazing.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Bringing heavy street bikes to Moab, on trails designed for lightweight enduros, what an adventure, thanks for sharing!
It's not for everyone but we enjoy it!
@@CamelADV no criticism implied, I am amazed at the skills and the commitment to ride these trails, great work my friend!
Y'all are crazy. I love it!
Crazy is a word we hear a lot!
I just bought the t7 camel tank to go down to Moab a couple weeks ago! had a blast. we got down Rusty nail and some sections were definitely a little much for the tenere! but alot of fun still. the camel tank was awesome 🤙🏼
You guys are nuts. And, I loved the video
The ADV Savages are at it again in the Moab. Impressive stuff fellas!
It was SO good to be back after missing 2yrs due to border closures. I love that place!
@@CamelADV it was on the todo list for this year but got postponed. Next year hopefully. Never been. Looks amazing!
Wow! that's amazing well done guys, I wish we had stuff like that in the UK!!
The safety wire/hoseclamp/ziptie trifecta got me good.
What an epic freakin ride, you guys rock!
🤘😎🤘
Got here wanting a T7 - Left here needing a 500
Gnarly workout! Great positive teamwork attitude. Scary!
We had the right guys on the right day on the right trail. It was one of those rides that's few and far between.
This is pretty radical!🤙🏿
So sick. Great vid!!
props to all who do such things on big bikes - bravo boys n girls, i am happy on my exc500 thanks
Pure madness! Love it 🤙 Takes some balls (and skill) to ride big bikes through that kind of shit, let alone with one fucking foot peg. Great riding fellas 👌
Days like that are rare... great group and an awesome trail! Good times.
Nice to see what a Tenere can do.
I am on the waiting list and plan to do trails as well as dirt roads
Awesome run Indeed
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Wow… very well done! Very impressive stuff throughout. Quite the entertainment!
I'm glad you liked it!
Wow , I've ridden some tough trails but nothing like this , well ridden .😎
It's been on the hit list for a few years, it was good to actually get it done! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Awesome video… real life problems and solutions while riding. Thanks for sharing and keep ‘em coming.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
It's fun watching this stuff. Having said that, you're asking to trash your bikes or get injured. Of course that's part of the fun. But if you have smaller dual sports or dirt bikes, why not just ride those? Because it's probably too easy LOL. Keep up the good work. I've got a t7, a wr250r and a yz250. Sometimes it is more fun challenging yourself with the big bike. But it can also be very costly.
That’s really putting the adventure into adventure biking 👍
What I see is an amazing trip matching great riding skills. You guys are awesome.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
great video, that is a gnarly trail , gonna have to start carrying a spare pegs for the rougher stuff . tie wire always to the rescue
It's the first peg I've ever broken. Those had been on there for a couple years and have seen some serious abuse. I exceeded it's service life ;)
All I can say is just WOW, great job, excellent teamwork!! Epic adventure!.. thanks for sharing!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Really sano setup on the Camel suspension! Impressive, not too much bashing other than catching a peg.
Great trip and video. Looked like fun.
It was a good day. Looking forward to the next one.
Thats a gnarly trail for those big A$$ bikes...love it.
Just the trail name “Cliff Hanger” would scare me off😨. Well done!
Gymmy tires needed eyy..
Very nicely done cory, poor footpeg though.
I would just have laid down and died on the spot :D, a week to recover from that ride for sure.
There's so much traction everywhere... like riding on sand paper! The peg situation sucked. I hit the same one really hard a few times that week and it finally tapped out. The timing was unfortunate but at least I wasn't standing on it when it snapped. I broken leg or torn ACL back there would have been REALLY bad!
@@CamelADV it sure looks like a awesome place to challenge your internal trails ego (on a big bike) 😬.
Yea that broken peg sucked, glad you didn’t get hurt.
You guys rock👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I enjoy watching every second of these video 👍 Awesome trial and fantastic riding and team effort.
Wow. waaay above my skill level. super impressed and sooo glad I purchased your T7 gear for my bike.
Great trip video and awesome fix on the foot peg. Ive been in that situation with a foot peg on a moderate-easy route so you win the prize for worst return trip possible with a broken peg! Keep up the hard riding, thanks for sharing. Hope we get to ride again one day, Im on Husky 701 now and loving life.
I'd love to ride with you again Randy, it's been too long! Are you going to the Touratech Rally?
@@CamelADV going to try and get there but my work schedule keeps changing so it's been hard to commit to things. If I head there, I will look you up! Thanks for asking.
Well done fellas. hope there wasn't too much damage all round. Thanks for a damn good watch. Love technical stuff.
Thanks! A few scratches and a peg... not bad!
haha technical stuff? what wasn't ?
Outstanding effort gentlemen 👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video! I enjoyed start to end, great to see great riders enjoy their heavy enduros that way, I share your mind set of having a blast in tricky situations and of what this bikes are capable of doing in the right hand, and not worrying because the resale value, keep it up guys 💪💪💪
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great adventure! Loved the video😎
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
That was great..epic!..I would definitely attempt SOME of it on my T7...but not much and definitely NOT where there's such a drop off the edge!! Great stuff 👏 👍 Cheers, Steve
The cost for failure is high in a few spots!
Wow that was intense Corey
It certainly was intense in spots!
I am very impressed that you took those heavy bikes up there. I have a 450 that is 250 lbs dry and at the start of the day I am throwing it around and at the end of the day it is throwing me around. That exc is a bike I will look in to. Great video. I see a lot of dirt bike videos and seldom are they interesting but this one kept my attention. I was wondering if I would have a clutch left but I would rip it with you guys on that trail!
A 450 makes far more sense. We like the challenge of the big bikes on dumb trails!
Super impressed with you guys! That takes guts (and skill) to even try that type of terrain.
Thanks! Cliff Hanger has been in my head for a few years. I'm glad I got the right group of guys together to make it happen!
and you all gotta be in awesome shape!!!!
This video was so great! You guys are ass kickers. I've done that trail on a single cylinder and it was tough! I've got a T7 now and I can't imagine! Sorry about your peg Cory. Thanks sharing this adventure!
It was a fun day with a great group of guys.
Tough trail guys w big bikes nicely done and great teamwork. You’ll need a block and tackle or winch setup soon!! My AT is too fat for this trail but my CRF450 would eat on this trail.
The 450 would definitely be a much better option. Charles was have a much easier time on his 500 (obviously).
Simply amazing! What a spectacular trail and video, and you guys have incredible big bike skills. Cory you did things with one foot peg most can't do with two. As a T7 owner it's amazing what can be done by those with amazing big bike skills. Would never attempt that myself, buy it sure was fun to watch
The peg situation certainly added to the challenge. If everything goes as planned, can you still call it an adventure?!
Great ride fellas! I'll bet you will be carrying an extra peg in your backpack for the rest of your life now lol😅👍👊
Wow you guys are mad :) Nice work! I know who I'm not buying a used bike from.
Most of my bikes are in excellent condition, they rarely get ridden. The ones I REALLY like get get the wheels ridden off them!
How bloody good 👍 👍 👍
Yup I’m bring my stock foot pegs for my T7 with me on off road trips lol
Also the reason the 790 and 890 gas tanks pressurize when off roading is because of the tank design. When the fuel is lower and the heat of the engine heats it up the gasses build up causing fuel gasses to build faster than they can escape from the extended vent hose and that’s why the hissing sound. All the new type of 790-890 do the same thing.
Hardcore riding
Not ideal bikes for this trail(460lbs bikes). Looks really easier for the 500EXC, more agile. Ideal bike would be a CRF300 Rally, 690 Enduro or AJP PR7(330 lbs bike). But 10/10 video, thanks for this great post!!!
A heavily modified crf300l would be better than the rally as it hasn’t all the extra stuff to break off.I have one but Standard trim nope unless you want to smash the engine on a rock.the others you suggest are way from ideal there are a hundred more better suited.
@@nickg2431 Weight is a factor, but Fuel range is really important for me, for this kind of long ride, far from gas station! CRF300 Rally has 400km/250 miles! Thats why I propose this bike :) (690 under 300km, Tenere 300km, 790 450km, Crf250l 200km, CB500X 500km!!!)
@@patfrazer fuel range important agreed but the reality is that the bikes are far too big for this terrain and dangerous except with a very experienced rider.Unless you are experienced and physically well built even then 250kgs is going on your ankle
Just amazing! F*ckin' amazing.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video Kelly!
FYI 2022 890R and had same venting issue...I took off the tank to ensure no kinked vent lines...also I put heat shield all over the underside of the tank. Issue gone. I belive it is just that the check valves are too restrictive in the fuel cap area.
This was so rad! Can we go back dad!?
Anytime Andy! Of course we have other dragons to slay first...
So did this with the 2 stroke And my 500 KTM. Not sure T7 and I want to do this.
The 300 or 500 make way more sense! I'm a bit weird as I'm far more comfortable on ADV bikes than on dirt bikes. I just sold my 350XCF-W and my trials bike because I never ride them, I always feel like a bear on a tricycle! I'm at home on an ADV bike.
I would say you guys have a screw loose, but this video clearly proves all the screws are missing and what parts were meant to be held together are only holding by duck tape and super glue at best! You guys are animals!
Trails like these are pushing a ADV bike to its limits and become more like work than fun. The only one having a good time is probably the 500exc.
It’s like pushing a round peg through a square hole. Sure, it can be done, but it’s a lot harder and you’re going to do some damage. Using the right tool for the application makes life so much more enjoyable.
Gr8 video ! Really want to ride on this track but unfortunately way to far 😕
It's a good one. All of Moab is pretty epic!
Next time you can roll the bike back on those balls of steel you’ve got!
Ps thanks for the anxiety ! Also, AMAZING WORK
It was definitely work getting through. We had a good group and had fun doing it.
Супер профи
Solid video. We did this trail in April 2022 on smaller bikes. Still is a bitch on a few of the sections. Great views though!
Cool
Wondering what was more useful for this trip, your skills and technique of the huge set of balls you seem to have, to go into these challenges...?
