- How to prepare for A Level results day, and a little bit of motivation to hopefully get you through! This time last year I picked up my A Level results and found out I was going to Durham University, so I thought I'd share all my experience to help with your preparation for the big day. I really needed this video as I'm predicted really high GCSE grades, meaning that every time I hear the words 'GCSE Results Day' I begin to panic, as everyone in my life's expectations are extremely high. I've been watching your videos all week because they help to calm me down, so thank you.

In Argentina (where I’m from) you get your results a week or less days after you take the exam! I would be so anxious if we had the system you have.

I got my grades the evening of the day I finished my exams, to be honest. I did the Dutch "Staatsexamen" or State Exam for secondary school, which combines the national written exams with spoken exams about a month later. Most secondary scool pupils over here get their exams after some weeks, though I am unsure how many.

I have my A level results day next year but I am so anxious for all of my friends in year 13!! I am applying to Durham to study psychology with education and would love a video on personal statements in your ‘Jack to school’ series!! Ahhh fingers crossed for you then! Also, don’t panic if the first year exam results aren’t exactly what you’d hope for (mine weren’t great) - you can still aim high and learn from your mistakes in second year!

Ahh this really put my mind at ease. I'm a triplet so me and my sisters are all getting our results on the same day. It's x3 stress cause i'm hoping we all get what we want but we are opening them all together. Hope everyone else gets what they want x

Where I live in Germany, they tell you your results in person, like you get invited back into your school and sit in a room with your tutor and they tell you how you did on your exams, idk if I like the way they do it in the UK better or our way 😅

I totally understand what you mean about your dream university. I was rejected from Oxford too but have now landed a Graduate Apprenticeship with my second choice university and a well known auditing firm which I would never have had the chance to do if I had got into Oxford
I mean at the time it was the university I had always dreamed of going to :)

oh my god that’s hilarious hahahaha! I hope the tips are useful - plus, if you have all the phone numbers written down in advance it’s the best feeling being able to rip them up when you actually do get in!
Our chemistry found it so funny that he told the entire department 🙈🙉🙊 and I've got all the numbers. I'm just praying I don't need them 😬

I mean I’ve walked in on my flatmate writing essays at 5am which are due in the next day but she does love her law degree hahaha
Hey I got into Durham for Law. Since you're not asking for anything specific I'll try to give some general advice if you don't mind. Also assuming that you haven't yet applied. You just need to be a very well balanced student, those with grades above the typical offer (38 in IB, idk what it is for A levels) tend to receive offers. LNAT is not too important (I got in with a poor LNAT score) but you should try to score as best you can (I had a genius friend with top grades that was rejected due to a disastrous LNAT result). Also make sure you write a good personal statement (very important)...I sure did and it saved my ass because my LNAT score was slightly below average (I don't even know how that happened, LNAT is not accurate.)

The title of this video alone scares me! I am re-doing 2 exams on the 16th and the 22nd of August and I will know the grades on the 6th of September. So I literally haven't done the exams yet and I'm already stressed out!
Our school system is totally different though haha! I'm starting my 3rd year at uni in October. I'm still taking at least 2 subject from 2nd year too, but I'm hoping to pass exams first so it won't be more!

hello! i was wondering if you knew durham’s stance on resitting an exam. i just got a B in AS history but i got a high A on all my other subjects but i really want to go into history and english so i’m not dropping history. i’m just worried about retaking history because i know some unis consider it a weaker application if you have to retake a subject.

Results day is actually a joke, even if you got 3 U's you can still get into uni somewhere, there's no use getting stressed out about it, you find out if you've got into uni before you even get your results anyway (just check UCAS)

honestly i’m crapping myself for results day and it’s not till 2019!! can barely imagine what people are going through rn x
I always feel old when I watch Jack, because I'm 22 and am living with a wholly different attitude. Even the 18 year old students at my course seem like ten years younger than me in that way. It doesn't help that I often listen to metal and older music either XD
