Wow, what an amazing trail with gorgeous views! I watch a lot of Mctrail Rider videos and I'm glad I came across your channel. The riding, trails, scenery, video quality and explanations are really good and the bonus is that these trails seem a lot more accessible than the ones in Scotland. Keep up the good work!
did this route on tuesday just gone. really nice ride the weather was with us too. missed a couple of turns with my garmin (2nd time i used it ) burnt out my rear pads and warpped my rotor on a big downhill road section. trying your ladybower one early nx week.
Heading to the Lakes this weekend, doing this one and your lakes one to .. I'm using the new Hardtail Trek Roscoe 7 with 27.5 plus on 2.8 plus on maxxis Rekon 👍 I use to ride a fullsus but got sick of the servicing on the pivot bolts , so gone back to hardtail but on plus wheels 😀 👍
@@TrailFinder well I'm hoping to get to Coniston Saturday morning, unless I finish early on Friday and get to the campsite .. hoping this hot weather stays out as I'm of from Saturday to Tuesday, so some of your routes I'll be doing for sure .. hoping to get my drone out on some of the descents to 👍😉 thanks for the quick reply, started following your Strava to .. so i can get some nice rides in when I get my days off 🤟
@@TrailFinder Sick bro! We will look out for it! You should upload your videos to our Campfire platform for a chance to win gear and be featured on Outside TV. This months contest is for Mountain Biking! Check it out here: www.outsidetvcampfire.com/contest/about/july19campfirecontest
Great video, recognised a lot of this one. Grizedale Forest seamlessly merges into the other trails. I can't decide which pub I like better, The Sun or The Black Bull. Bluebird is always my pint of choice around there.
Awesome video an narrative thanks for sharing just a couple of questions please can this or any of the trail's you have recorded be done on a gravel bike what brand and model is your MTB and do you recommend tubeless 👍
Most of them can be done on a gravel bike. Defo all my dales rides anyway. This is an old vid. Was riding my old bike. Scott genius. I only started riding in 2016 and have never ridden with tubes. Been tubeless since my 1st ride. And had no problems
@@TrailFinder Thanks for the quick response what new bike did you decide on ? and are any of the entry level full suspension bikes good enough for what you do on you tube 👍
@@alangoffin3599 I got an ibis ripmo. It’s double the price of the Scott I had. And it’s so much nicer to ride because of that. You can do what I do on any full suss bike. But obviously the more expensive the bike. The better ride experience you get. WhT I did was upgrade the Scott to a really high spec. Which spread out the cost. Then when it was new bike time. I bought frame only and then transplanted the parts over.
Another great video, I have watched too many hours of your videos🙂 Am I right in thinking your mate John is on an ebike? Can you advise what size of battery he has and does one battery cover the ride when he is out with you. I hoping to ride a few of your trails in next few weeks. Many thanks for the inspiration.
😂😂. You must be sick to death of me Yes John is on an ebike. He has had no problems with battery life. Although he does ride in eco all the time and more or less at my pace. But think ok at normal ebike pace. As rides are only 20/25 miles long
@@TrailFinder thanks for quick reply👍. Good to know its one battery on Eco, thats the way I ride. I'm based in Northern Ireland and was in LD last year riding MTB trails, now planning another trip and hope to do a weeks riding on some of your routes, with one 625wh battery on Eco. 🤞🙂
What's the little GPS unit you're using there? Just getting into mountain biking, would like some way of navigating and don't want my phone on the bars because it's quite a big phone.
Do you think this ride would be do able on a hard tail? Just picked up a 2021 specialized rockhopper elite and I’m looking for some long routes like this! Awesome video!
I like them both. But mainly use Strava. There route planner is great. And I use it to build all my routes. Trailforks is good for finding individual trails and full rides. But it’s mainly good for individual trails. You pay for both now. The free versions are not that good now. The paid versions are really good. I get a lot of of them both
Where did you park at to start this ride, and ruffly how long does it take. I heard you say it was a Monday you did ride would you say a weekend would be packed with walkers. Obviously in normal circumstances?
I parked in high cross car park. It’s one of the grizedale Forest carparks but free. If you google it you can get it’s exact location. This ride can be done on a weekend. The only bit that would be busy is the walna scar road section. Just before the road descent into coniston. That section is part of the old man of coniston walk. But the rest of it is not where the tourists go. It’s amazing you will love it
Great video but you missed a good downhill when you went on the tarmac into Coniston. Instead there is a trail that goes out the back of the Walna Scar Car park and drops you down onto the old railway line into Coniston. Keep up the videos 👍
Love the channel keep up the great work👍 I have mostly ridden trail centres like hamsterley, glentress,Whinlatter etc but after watching your channel I have started to go out to single track in the lakes and I love it. I would like to know how you navigate your route , do you use a satnav like a garmin or wahoo ? I’m sick of getting my phone out to check the map Cheers
stephen wolfe thanks Stephen. I love trail centres. But you can’t beat a natural ride out in the countryside. I used to use my phone like you are. And it’s so annoying getting it out all the time. I now use a Garmin edge 820. It’s a great sat nav.
Trail-Finder thanks for the info , I will do a bit more research and get one in the next few weeks. Trail centres are great for when the weather is crap and the rain gets too much the drainage is normally able to cope. Have you any plans to head up to Scotland this year and do some of wild rides ?

Yeah it’s a great loop that’s got it all in my opinion.

Ouch, that finger looked sore! Done that loop a few times. The parkamoor descent and the bit above Blawith are cracking. You had a perfect day for it!
