Muito bom! Até a pronúncia dos dês em “dessa vida” está perfeita - articulação linguodental e não alveolar como em inglês”. Acho que o segredo é que você aprendeu a pronúncia correta desde o início, inclusive os sons nasais e a distinção entre vogais abertas e fechadas que costumam apresentar uma maior dificuldade para quem fala inglês ou espanhol. Com relação à preposição “para”, normalmente as duas vogais são pronunciadas, pelo menos no sul da país. Por exemplo, na velocidade normal da fala ou leitura não percebo muita diferença entre os dois “paras” em “o motorista para para reabastecer o carro” (the driver stops to refuel the car). O primeiro é um verbo e a primeira sílaba é tônica, não havendo a possibilidade de elisão do primeiro a nem mesmo com o aumento da velocidade da fala. Já o segundo é uma preposição e suas duas sílabas são átonas, o que explica a pronúncia “pra” em algumas situações. A última reforma ortográfica eliminou, equivocadamente, o acento diferencial que existia no verbo (pára). Entretanto, a distinção gráfica entre o monossílabo tônico pôr (verbo) e o monossílabo átono por (preposição) permanece.

Great video, just curious I notice that you pronounce the "d" on "dessa" more like a "d" in English, can you explain why it doesn't sound like a "dj" in this case?

When the "de-" is followed by a double "s" like "desse", "dessa", "desses", etc., it will always be pronounced as /d/ as in "dog". When it's followed just by a single "s", as in "desafío" (challenge) or "desculpa" (sorry), some people will pronounce it as /d/ while others /dj/ depending on region. That said, as a rule of thumb, you can't go wrong by pronouncing words starting with "de-" as /d/.

From a strict grammatical perspective you're right. In spoken Brazilian Portuguese though, "essa" is also used to mean "this", so it could be "esta" or "esa".

Is it common to use 'para eles' o 'para você' in place of the the indirect object pronoun??Also, does the leísmo that occurs in some dialects of Spanish also occur in Portuguese?

Yes, in the spoken language, the indirect object pronouns lhe/lhes are not used very much...that's something you see in formal written contexts like newspaper articles. For "você", "te" is also used in the spoken language..."I'll lend you the money" could be either "Te empresto o dinheiro" or "Empresto o dinheiro para você". Great question about the leísmo and this opens up a whole can of worms and raises an interesting topic about the linguistic situation in Brazil. So "I saw him" in standard, written Portuguese would be "Eu o vi", pretty much the same construction as "Yo lo vi". But in the spoken language, what you usually hear is "Eu vi ele".
