The next step up is likely going to push Donnies loads up to the really expensive permits so it may not be worth it just for transport. But I am no expert so more info is appreciated.
I commented on a different video, it's a scam the way u can't put a bigger bucket on the smaller machines especially when loading light clay or something like topsoil. U would use less diesel I'm thinking in the smaller machine.
I used to keep bees. They are the most interesting bug that I know about. When they swarm they are pretty docile and it looks like a big mess of mad bees but there is a method to their madness.
@@shawnsmith5440 I see your angle though i highly doubt that, He does not do logging in that way since its too time consuming and the clearings he gets the bulk of the tree's have already been removed. That would double his workload having to use that to cut the trees and then stump to clear. He also does not make enough from the logging in that way to keep a big attachment like that. Im sure the final verdict video will be surprising either way
A beekeeper can come out and find the queen to make a productive hive for the farm you are working on. That might make an interesting video. It would certainly help your reputation with the greenies.
The pond looks really good. It looks like the 330 is getting more than a few hours a year. The 330 would look really good with a AMI 4 in 1 jawbone bucket on it.
Im always impressed by the virtuosity he moves this machine. it’s like he’s playing an instrument, let’s say a flute or saxophone. The controls are rather extensions of his hands than tools. Granted the sandy bottom helps but look what he’s able to achieve without a thumb!
Interested in your surprise... I would not be surprised if it's a certain AMI attachment... I won't name it.. yet.. but not surprised if you do. The little dozer that could to go along with the not-so little and fairly large Cat dozers that know they can... Love that D7
Or possibly an AMI Graptor bucket where the thumb and bucket are one and if need be he can drop the bucket and thumb off together without the extra weight of the thumb staying with the stick, heck who knows maybe it’s just gonna be a thumb by itself 🤷♂️😂
Yep !! I figured that's what those Honey Bee's was doing was resting !! I had them do the same thing in one of our tree's a couple years ago, and called a local "Bee Keeper" and he explained to me then that they Swarm in the spring, and will rest from time to time when looking for a new home !! And , He ended up taking the Bee's which wasn't but about 2000 bee's, i guess ?And put them in a Hive Box, and , now there is no telling how many bee's are in that hive !! Well, If your not getting a Thumb for the 330, I'd say, you are gonna get Grapple for it ?? Guess, we'll have to wait and see...lolol... But, that 330 does do a hell of a job clearing !! for sure... Great as always Chris !! Have a Great Evening , And , On too the Next !! Dammit Man !! That pond already looking a 1000% better !!
Scratches to the 330 - careful there LetsDig18 :) Something coming - hmmm - gotta move with the jobs. Clearing those sweet gums like dandelions - know those dang dandelions (and privets) are an absolute pest. Looking good too - pretty farm pond.
Great video as always,I see some of the area’s you cleared were a little wet,now they should be able to dry out some,on the bees if they were still around you could have contacted a bee keeper and I’m sure they would have gladly come and remove them.I know it’s gonna be cow pasture, but part of that area around the pond would make a great secluded homesite.did all that water that was blocked, did it clear up a bit. Great job, just keep doing what you do best.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Sure would be helpful a thumb. It's been proven to work by evolution and missing on the Hyundia. Maybe one day you'll find one and a bigger bucket that it could possibly cope with. Great stuff, Chris.
Those bee's were more likely Wasp and not Yellow jackets since they build their nest underground. Have stepped in several over the years. Last one involved a mower. Sorta reminded me of you a cat and an excavator
Did the memory of you, the cat and excavator bring a smile to your face? I hope that it did. Really glad that I found your video's. Have you seen the Video about the Toyota Mega Site? You should watch it and let me know what you think
That pond is really looking good with all that brush and trees removed from around it. A sleeping beautify awakened by the talented Mr. Letsdig18. I really like to watch Chris when he's sculpting the edges of a pond.
Proof is in the pudding when it comes to Chris clearing, making that 330 slay some trees an brush, can't wait to see what you got for the 330, thanks for sharing awesome videos Chris, an I look forward to seeing the next video as always 🌲🇺🇲💪👌✊🤙👍
Your description of sweet gum trees is 'spot on'! Sweet gums and privet bushes are trying to invade some of my properties but I'm keeping them fought back....for now. I'm nearly too old to achieve success.
Grapple? Love the sound of the crunch as the 330, stomps on the recalcitrant piles of plant life that yields to the supreme power of Hyundai. Your still talking to the trees Chris, keep it up! Thanks from UK.
Could certainly be wrong but going to guess that new edition on the 330 will be a grapple, similar to what cotten top 3 uses. Looking forward to seeing.
Graptor for the win. I believe he said he doesn't want the weight of a thumb and he already had the hydraulics plumbed. Graptor would give thumb capability without massive weight addition I'm surmising. Although I wonder if it's made in the 330s weight class 😊
Doesn't matter what equipment you use, you make that machine sing. So much fun watching the brush & scrub being removed and the land opening up. Thanks for sharing, Chris.
I've learned so much watching your channel that I went and bought a kobelco. She's rough...real rough, but she's PERFECT for puttering around the property and seeing what I can create. The guy who sold it to me said "owning an excavator is a life changing event". I believe he is correct. Thanks for all the content.
We got a Grappler bucket for our 330 size machine. Same scenario you have here, dont need it often enough to have a permanent thumb, but still have use. Super handy, the $45k price tag was hard to swallow however.
I willing to bet that AMI bucket and thumb are on the way that would make the 330 an awesome digging machine great clearing video thanks Chris and Robert and Donny
Making Ponds Great Again! Great job Chris…looking good around there. I wonder if you are getting a tree saw or tree shear for the 330? Hmmmm. Guess we have to wait and see. Thanks Man….
I live in Ontario and I paid 200 dollars for a sweet gum tree. Didn't know that it was a WEED!!! It is the only one in the area so there is no propagation
I'm guessing that you have a stumper coming for the 330. I've seen a few shark tooth stump splitters recently, but they don't so much pry a full stump out of the ground, as split it into manageable sized chunks. They are interesting to watch, but my impressing is that it takes longer. The smaller pieces would burn more easily though.
Chris, you really did a great job in cl;earning alot of those crap trees out of the way and the pond area is already starting to look better as well, sure once you make some more room and get rid of all those trees you are taking down along the pond, it will make a big difference..
Looks nice Chris, my own thoughts on machines and their frequency of use is that as time goes on and projects begin to evolve the more one begins to recognize places where you might not thought of using them begins to show itself and it maybe even more efficient to use that one machine more than you had anticipated, especially if you have a competent 2nd operator on hand from time to time like you have. Just a thought, thanks for the video, enjoyed watching.
If you get tired of walking back and forth from equipment to your pickup you should look into some of the e-bikes as they have frames that fold and are fairly Compact and it would be possible to ride the bike back and forth rather than walking.
Almost looks like you could design a thumb that fits on the bucket so it could be changed out with the bucket. Looks like you’re keeping the bucket in a stable angle when pulling brush. I mean, if it’s that important to not have the extra weight when digging. Of course that would mean an extra bucket to keep track of.
I don't know if this even exists but I'd like to see some sort of mud / silt blade / scraper for one of your excavators that has a quick connect. I've seen you do a good decent job with a log pinched with the thumb dragging mud and making channels.., I can only imagine the job you'd do with a rear facing blade attachment that would be perfect for silt ponds and smoothening mud and sand along shore lines. You could experiment with a piece of 12'' steel pipe split and cut to 6 or 8ft length or a split length of PVC pipe re-enforced with a steel gusset plate on the back / connected to the thumb to change the angle.
Making a big difference clearing around the pond bro, it looks a good size too. 330 makes short work of clearing as well, be interesting to see what attachment you have in store for it. Safe travels. Ken.
Oh it would be cool to have a grapple/chainsaw combo almost a feller buncher, you'd do worse than a brutus like Logger Wade has, that is one cool machine. It can hold a 36 inch TREE while you cut it.
Hi Chris, well I'm thinking a nice big AMI bucket with a AMI progressive thumb........ The moment you pushed the first tree down, I said "That big boy needs a thumb"! It will be a monster then!!!
I’m guessing that you’re getting an AMI Graptor Bucket. This way you have the benefit of the thumb, but you can remove it and put the big bucket back on it to move dirt.
I remember when Chris got the 330 him saying it won't get much time on it in a year, but seems like it is almost doing more than the 220s ;)
Yeah I mean having bigger excavators can give him more access to do bigger jobs hopefully that means we get to see like a 370/ 400 in the next year !😅
Same
The next step up is likely going to push Donnies loads up to the really expensive permits so it may not be worth it just for transport. But I am no expert so more info is appreciated.

I knew he was missing that thumb. Lol
man, this is so much better to watch than making little rocks out of big rocks. A lot less stress on the equipment to boot.
Cheers from Louisiana.
I love when old ponds get a Brazilian.
lol

No landing strip?😂😂😂
Easier access to the wet area.
Makes a guy just want to dive in and look around.
I used to keep bees. They are the most interesting bug that I know about. When they swarm they are pretty docile and it looks like a big mess of mad bees but there is a method to their madness.
Someone suggested that the queen was stuck on the bucket. That would get the rest of the hive to stick around.
Gotta be a new AMI attachment!! Can’t wait to see what is arriving!! Clearing is coming along!
Yeah i 2nd that guess......AMI getting the opportunity to expand on their branding & the LD18 specialty mods.
May be a Dirt Perfect trimmer 👍
I was originally thinking a mulching head but I’d put my money on a logging/ fella buncher so he can just stump land.
@@shawnsmith5440 I see your angle though i highly doubt that, He does not do logging in that way since its too time consuming and the clearings he gets the bulk of the tree's have already been removed. That would double his workload having to use that to cut the trees and then stump to clear. The logical choice for the 330 would be a grapple. Preferably one with a rotator.
Taking a piece of neglected scrub land, and turning into a paradise. You've got a fun job, Chris!

Hah! I love how you were threading smaller saplings with the 330 bucket teeth @3:38. That was clever, and surprisingly effective.
Chris could till your garden with the teeth on that bucket. Real expensive garden rake though haha have a nice day 😁
New line of LD18 attachment coming your way. Brought to you by AMI and Chris’ mind!!!
Great work as always. Glad to see you back clearing instead of breaking cement
Interested to see what you have planned. A 330 with a big ole' 4-in-1 JAWBONE bucket would be KEWL!

I guess some kind of rototilt attachment
Thanks for the explanation on the bees. I wondered if they were Africanized bees as they seemed very aggressive.
Very cool what those bees were actually doing. Glad Chris explained this. :)
I was going to suggest a grapple but a thumb would be perfect too. 😊
Oh yeah, the busy buzzy bees. Love those guys! Speaking of dandelions, that thing pulls trees like dandelions.
