- "Welcome to the Molecule!" This is a piece of music for a fictitious galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2, one where Mario shrinks to the subatomic level and jumps to and from orbiting electrons and spherical neutrons and all kinds of haywire frenzied madness where gravity isn't quite what it seems! In the molecular nucleus is a giant ticking clock face reminding Mario of his old-school Tick, Tock Clock days with the mechanical madness and playful pleasures of Toy Time Galaxy.
The music hopefully reflects the crazy nonsense awaiting Mario's arrival, with a ticking beat, clanking percussion and a whirring main theme. Pay particular note to the nod to the original Super Mario Bros. theme at 0:26-29, and I hope you enjoy the carefully constructed (and utterly insane) three-part fugue at 0:54 based on a variation of the Super Mario Galaxy fanfare!
One of the missions is to fix the clock... which seems to be resetting itself every 66 seconds instead of every minute! A power star must be jammed somewhere inside! Listen to the alarms sound as all hell breaks loose during the restart!

Thanks for your honest little critique! :D Although I'd have to say, I find writing in minor keys much much easier, and the reason I work on so many major keys/uplifting/happy pieces is because I find them tougher to write so it's good practice.
I'm always trying to do new experimental things, and hopefully the evolution of my pieces from 2008-2010 shows that =)

Best one you've made! Sounds JUST like something that would be used in the game, fits perfectly, and never gets old! Splendous job. Slightly biased as I love clocks and their ticking, but I still think it's perfect.

This would be a very surreal galaxy to have in Galaxy 2! Reminds me of Sonic & Knuckles' Flying Battery zone, Cloud Cuckooland, Toad Brigade, as well as something from Superstar Saga! Very bizarrely awesome composition, BowieZ!

Star 3: Opposites Attract- This is where you ride a ball that has a star in it much like the first Mario Galaxy, but its actually a proton and you have to get to the nucleus of an atom while dodging the electrons so they dont knock you off.
Ok we need a boss here...Kamella would be a good choice.
Star 4: A Jog Through the Electron Orbit- Name's self explanatory.
Star 5: Cosmic Mario Orbit Race: Same as above.

God, your descriptions are genius!
this is very well done. It completely matches the overall musical themes of Galaxy, and it's very cleverly written, with the atoms, the clock sounds, and the basic beep synths.
This reminds me a lot of Banjo-Kazooie, Paper Mario, and another game I can't think of. If this actually gets in the game, it'll be a very nice throwback. Excellent composition.

Star 1: Clock gone INSANE: The clock is broken! I guess Mario will have to go in and fix it! Mario flies throught different planets which are like gears, neutrons and atoms. When he gets to the final zone (A big gear surrounded by holes and soms sort of cuckoo clock on top), a giant robotic bird sprouts out of the clock, looks at Mario and screams! He seems to have done something wrong to the clock! Cuckooie! Stop it!
BOSS BATTLE: Cuckooie
How to kill:Cuckooie will attack you sprouting out of random holes surrounding you and shooting bullet bills. He will eventually attack you but when he finishes the attack he'll fall asleep, springs will come out and you can jump on the springs and ground pund on his head! Repeat the action 3 times and he'll die.
Star 2: Gravity Peril: Mario lands on a starshroom near the clock and Captain Toad appears and says: "Oh! Hey Mario! How ya doin'? Good I suppose, right? So anyway, I located a Power Star in the bottom of that MASSIVE clock where gravity seems to be going NUTS! You should go and check it out!". Mario flies to the bottom of the clock and goes in a pipe, and appears in a 2d place similar to the style of Rightside Down Galaxy and looks for the star.
Speedy Comet: Countdown to Chaos:The first star but there is a limited time (5 minutes).
Hidden Star: The secret of the clock's basement: In a certain point of Star 2 there will be a place where your on the ceiling and blue gravity walls move up and down and lead to spikes! There is 1 which gives access to a little room with a Toad which gives you a star!

I noticed that the song plays for exactly 60 seconds between the rewinds. I imagine that the *instant* you land in this galaxy (at 0:17), a timer for 60 seconds appears onscreen, counting down in time with the music. When it hits zero, the song spends 8 seconds rewinding your progress throughout the stage and starting you back off at the beginning. However, it does *not* reverse important objectives (such as the switches you have to hit to repair the clock). There are three switches to hit. Thus, it will take you about 3 runs to complete the mission.

This sounds exactly like it would be from a Mario game, and is the most awesome I have heard in a very long time. With your talent, I really hope somebody high up will notice you and you will get hired. There is no way this could be any awesomer.

Effects I could think of...
1. Depending on where the Hour is, say 3, 6, 9, and 12, gravity switches in certain parts. To avoid having it confusing and avoid leading to kept deaths, maybe have a colored area around the area where the gravity will shift.

2. Platforms trigger depending by the Hour hand, if Hour hand is on 3, 3 platform is solid, if on 5, 5 is solid.
Maybe have the background with some clocks floating in the sky scrolling.
I bet that will take alot of programming to do...

A timer is set by the music (like in beat block), and when it hits 0 everything is reset but not the player position.
I imagine something like tick tock clock from sm64 and some nail and screw to fix

I could see it too. The arena would be surrounded by 12 cuckoo bird doors, which the boss will pop out of. You have to predict which door the bird pops out via the clock hands, and then hit the stretchy part as it pops out.
Wow, with the clock resetting every 66 seconds, and all hell breaking loose during the restart, this would make one epic galaxy.
Your buddy Glem, who I THINK makes animations for your music, needs to make an animation showing us what the restart is like. 8)
In my head, it's a a world were you start our with 20seconds but as soon as you land, Mario get's +10 seconds & each enemy you destroy, you get +5 seconds.
At first, when I saw the title, I thought the galaxy would be like a nuclear factory or something like that with all sorts of radioactive traps all over the place, but this works just as well.
This song is amazing! When I heard it I could totaly hear this song playing in SMG3. Great song, keep up the AMAZING work!
