Get a pre-purchase inspection and history report that gives odometer readings. I found a Camry with around 175k miles, but the history report noted an odometer rollback. Tips for buying used vehicles: Buy it locally by a friend or look around your city for vehicles standing around without licenseplates.
Her major mistake was buying a used Dodge. Those things typically die at 80-90k miles, sometimes even sooner than that no matter how well you maintain them. What many don't know is that there is a toggle switch that can be installed that kills power to the dash and odometer on some models. This freezes the mileage. I knew a guy who did this for 3 years before selling his Silverado.
I bought a 2009 Toyota Corolla for 4k. Had it about a year now n it's up to 209k miles. I had one repair in the whole year which was a blown tire on the highway. Gets about 350 miles a tank n takes 40$ to fill it from E. Get yourself a Toyota Corolla

For example: If a DIY car owner buys a vehicle at auction or wrecks a vehicle and repairs it themselves, there may be no accident report of record for Carfax or title search. My guess is it’s a stolen car. They can steal the VINs from another car. Always check the vins. Usually they’re hidden in the engine block, under the windshield, or some times in the trunk. Always make sure all the numbers match.
Was it just me? Or did anyone else read the title and immediately wonder if they were gonna mention that iconic scene in Matilda. (The one where Danny DeVito rolls back the odometer.)Only then,to click on the video and that’s the first thing they show 😂
one of my fave childhood movies!
Omg. I rewatched that movie just a week ago.
First thing when I read the title
110k miles, if you bought a Honda, you still have 100k good miles left.
That charger would still have 100k miles left on it too if it wasn’t in an accident 🤷♂️
300k
Hondas can go like 500k miles easily
This is why its really good for everyone to have basic car knowledge and what to look for theres lots of signs to look for with a car thats got rolled back odometers and like overall condition of the car
"No one has ever gotten rich being honest" and *I REST MY CASE.*
And you should keep your eyes open too. Modern scan tools can actually set the odometer in the pcm. Mostly done when it’s been replaced. But I’m sure there’s some shady ass people out there.
I absolutely hate scammers
This is why I prefer first-hand cars rather than second-hand cars.
Well now that you told everybody how easy it is to do digitally you should see a nice spike in more incidents.. good work.. Similar to the media just letting everyone know they can walk into stores and take whatever they want and they won't be arrested.
Yeah good work insider edition because there definitely aren't thousands if not more articles/videos all over the internet already showing you how to do the exact thing......
You think people who would do this need to have inside edition to teach them? That's very dumb. A Google search will tell you the exact same thing plus more.
Her first mistake was getting this for her son.
Such good mother buying car for her son, how sweet
Yes but who spends 11k on a first car for their high school kid. wtf
@@Jake-li7ih rich spoils? Those who earned money by laundering, drugs, black money, bribe etc.....
Unfortunately you can buy a new snap on scan tool and do this. The first time I saw the feature I tried it on my truck to see and it does change to whatever you type in. It was meant for when you have to put a new cluster in you can put vehicles correct mileage on new part.
This sum black air force’s energy right there
Lesson #1.
Never…..EVER buy a Dodge with. 75,000 miles on it! 😆
👏🏻 😂
"Nobody ever got rich being honest!" Classic! :)
She should have brought to the mechanic prior to buying it. Shame on her
ALL USED CARS HAVE ROLLED BACK ODOMETERS. THEY JUST USE A SCAN TOOL AND IT TAKES LESS THAN 5 MINS.
yeah sure , I know that you cant .. haven't been able to program a new cluster's miles for many years now
@@donbeary6394 Its easy, buy a scan tool off of amazon thats able to rollback the miles, plug it into ANY ecu (Even exotic cars) and set the mileage you want. Its all over youtube if you search.
@@eliteexposure5594 At least in Japanese cars, there’s a 93xx chip located within the instrument panel. A cheap $20 CH341A programmer can read and edit it with a slight modification. And it’s absolutely evidence-less. Oh and no, it’s not done with “a few clicks” of a button. Odometer rollback requires you to disassemble the instrument panel, desolder the chip and connect it properly to the programmer.
Get a pre-purchase inspection and history report that gives odometer readings.
I found a Camry with around 175k miles, but the history report noted an odometer rollback. I estimated from the numbers an actual history of around 255k miles. The car dealer had provided the history report, but was either expecting an ignorant customer or hadn't taken the time to view it. I told him of the odometer rollback, and all he said was that it didn't make sense. But it did, because the location of odometer readings is a location with workers with long commutes. I even found a news article with a story on long commutes from that area.
she needs to sue and someone needs get her son a good car
This is Dice Auto Sales in Lansing, MI. I live a few miles away from this place. They have terrible reviews online for mostly selling lemon cars and being really deceitful with their car-selling tactics. I’ve needed a car for awhile but I’ve always stayed clear of this place
What if the mileage is stored in the car's computer like some vehicles?
2:00 The entire video was based on changing the odometer’s reading stored within a cars computer. It’s possible to change both; whether mechanical or electrical.
@@sj-red thing is changing the odometer is easy, you can buy an odb mile correction tool and plug it in, then you can just change the miles to whatever you want. Feel like there's a way to make the data stored for the odometer not accessible thru odb
@@FirstnameLastName-mr8lk oh so like she said in the video?...smdh
@@sj-red read my original comment again, some cars have the mileage stored in the computer, that's different from the odometer they're talking about, you can even put a different instrument cluster in & it will always say the same mileage.
@Josiah Evans you can fool that easily, there is obd mileage correction plugs that will make dsg transmissions and other sensors show the same mileage as the odometer.
3 mistakes here.
Mistake#1 looking at a Dodge
Mistake#2 buying a Dodge
Mistake #3 buying a used Dodge.
I never buy any cars if I see they were registered in NY lol. Those Uber drivers put over 200k miles in very new cars, roll back miles and sell.
It's visible how many miles the vehicle has, by things like the buttons, seats, shifter and steering wheel... It's visible if the car was rebuilt, visible by small not alignments or not matching paintjob textures... You should watch out and not get fooled by the things like:
- It's an BIG used car dealership.
- It's low mileage and over marketprice so that means it's a good car right?
Conclusion: Buying an used vehicle isn't that easy and you must search around a little for a nice one... A dealer always knows what he has...
Tips for buying used vehicles: Buy it locally by a friend or look around your city for vehicles standing around without licenseplates.
DICE 🎲 is the name of the dealership, if that didn’t stop you I don’t know what will! Next, go buy a house from Shanty Construction!
Her major mistake was buying a used Dodge. Those things typically die at 80-90k miles, sometimes even sooner than that no matter how well you maintain them. Meanwhile, I’ve seen people buy 15 year old Toyotas and Hondas with 200k miles for dirt cheap and drive them another 200k miles, on the original transmission and engine, with no major issues.
So untrue. Depends on the engine, maintenance and overall life care.
Poor Dodge Charger, it’s seen better days…
Was a nice car until some kid probably got hold of it and crashed it, then some sleazy used car lot got it and rolled the miles back smh. Hard life.
Why cording l why didn’t they tell her

OF COURSE.
AND POLICE SHOULD INVESTIGATE ALL THE CARS ALREADY SOLD.
Yes because that's what the tax payers money is for. Investigating cars. Not stopping much worse crimes. 🤣
What many don't know is that there is a toggle switch that can be installed that kills power to the dash and odometer on some models. This freezes the mileage. I knew a guy who did this for 3 years before selling his Silverado.
Ecu will still log mileage tho.
@@0xsergy On some GM cars the mileage is stored in the BCM, body control module
I rolled back my honda civic and even told the dealership I sold it to. They still bought it off me

technically there was no bumper to fall off. That was just the bumper cover.
And I’ve been driving backwards this whole time 😂
I bought a 2009 Toyota Corolla for 4k. Had it about a year now n it's up to 209k miles. I had one repair in the whole year which was a blown tire on the highway. Gets about 350 miles a tank n takes 40$ to fill it from E. Get yourself a Toyota Corolla
They really use the Matilda scene for ever case of odometer roll back.
Or ferris buller
@@carsonac4163 no. They use Matildas scene because it portrays a scummy car salesman, the ferris Bueller scene was just 2 high schoolers trying not to get in trouble.
Plot twist: Her son got in an accident and he is blaming it on faulty equipment.
Carfax helps when you buy one. now days the Carfax should have a long history. if you see a car like I did with a 40k mile gap in the middle of it's life with no Carfax is a red flag.
CARFAX isn’t good enough. Some people do their own Oil changes and repairs. Those don’t go into report.
@@staidey5994 yes it can. You just have to report it yourself and you can upload receipts and pictures to.
@@nb7466 no one does that
@@staidey5994 well you said it couldn't. When it can. Also if you don't that's your own problem. When I sell my car everything will be reported
Thanks for sharing that advice
this is why you always inspect the car and take pictures
Lets just take a moment to appreciate the time and effort Lisa takes for these videos
BEWARE: Even Carfax can be fooled if a vehicle has been in an accident if: the vehicle was not repaired at a licensed auto/body repair shop. For example: If a DIY car owner buys a vehicle at auction or wrecks a vehicle and repairs it themselves, there may be no accident report of record for Carfax or title search. Some states still allow "scrubbing" of the title of totalled vehicles.
Should have taken it to Scotty Kilmer
She’s not the first and she won’t be the last
They can just claim they didn’t know about the roll back and refuse refund? 🤔 There’s gotta be a law against that.
Exactly my thought! Smh...sux this happened to them but I'm sure they can get an attorney to help fix this issue
Small claims court! Hell, for 11k she might have to go to a big claims court! You can also sue for criminal negligence (putting you in danger).
Seriously, I can't imagine the dealership not pulling a Carfax and noticing the mileage didn't match. They definitely knew.
"No one ever got rich being honest", very true statement.
Now the real question is who would think a Dodge Charger would be a good first car for a teenager 😂
I see no harm if it's the slow charger
It’s a v6. They’re very slow.
A mom who pays $11k cause its "low miles" then the bumper falls off.
Ya know her son aint on TV cause he wrecked it
Its 100% normal for a chrysler product to have the cluster replaced because the manufacturer sells cars with faulty cluster. They fail always. There is a TSB for that year and model for the cluster.
So she ain’t know the bumper could come off the easy
May have previously been ziptied that broke when she hit a curb or something. I have a vehicle at Copart that had the front bumper ziptied to the frame.. Kinda sturdy until the zipties break. Just my 2 cents.
@@bijk1911 lmfao. You can get a rivet gun for cheap nowadays. I replaced my whole front bumper for like 400 bucks, repaint included.
@@angelgjr1999 bruh that doesn't work if the frame is bent though? 🤣🤣
