      one simple explanation from my part , its because he speaks English , simple as that . nowadays we speak something else , full of arrogance and selfishness . Andreas is greek first of all and English is his second language , so I guess he uses what he needs to use of the simple English out there . peace

    Dear Andreas,
    Thank you again for a great speech.
    Please allow me to ask:
    How does the consensus work, when good devs try to make Bitcoin better?
    Are there 50 devs in total who vote for implementation of something 1 dev made?
    Or are there 1000 devs who have that power?
    You said that any change will only be implemented when there is consensus in the community.
    Who is the "community"?
    I have a few Bitcoin...
    I am very active in "the community" by listening to you on UA-cam, and a lot of others.
    I follow good people on Twitter.
    But nobody asked my opinion/vote when a change is suggested.
    When there is a change implemented, is that called a softfork?
    Is every little change a softfork?
    In other words:
    What exactly is the structure of how changes are made?
    And more important: Who are the people that have to agree and how many of them are there in total?
    Thank you so very much for clarifying this.
    It puzzles me already longtime.

    • @io3213
      @io3213 7 років тому +3

      Consider this:
      There are 100 devs and 60 of them agree on what they think is the best modification to implement forward. They have majority among the 100 devs so they commit these changes to official bitcoin software. The remaining 40 devs, or anybody that thinks this is a bad idea can fork the source code and work in a different direction. Now say those 40 devs in the minority were actually right, based on the opinion of bitcoin users around the world. People would keep using the version they prefer and eventually they would agree on one of the two because there is too much at stake. For each user, the only incentive is to make bitcoin better for every user, not just himself, because that would drive people away and his currency would lose value. So as a whole the users decide the future of bitcoin, if that makes sense.

    • @gestet
      @gestet 7 років тому +1

      Also @bugswillbite, to add to your eloquent explanation, humanity has 'soft forked' & 'hard forked' for centuries (if not millennia) w/ their decisions of FAITH. Think of denominations of the Christian religion. Whenever a faction of the church had a disagreement over certain interpretations in the Bible, they decided to mutually part ways & form a new denomination (a type of Hard Fork) w/ others of like mind.
      In essence, as AA has eluded to in this talk (as well as others around Oct/Nov 2017), cryptocurrencies/alt coins, will thrive in varying degrees on the basis of FAITH/BELIEF of users of each coin's protocols/governance as stated in their 'white papers'. As coins evolve based on scale, consensus steers the direction of the coin causing the users to make a choice whether to continue use or Soft Fork/Hard Fork or discontinue use of said coin.

      @@LightWorkerBass People living hand to mouth like this can't take risks with money and fluctuating exchange rates. They don't have capital and therefore are unlikely to need a system that allows free movement of capital. Using the Bitcoin network *requires fees*, and (on-chain fees at least) are beyond the means of someone in that position.
      Bitcoin can help people in a financial position like this, but only indirectly IMHO. A village of people in such a position for example might collectively accumulate the knowledge & capital to leverage this technology.
      Samson may also be wrong, who cares?
      He is just a guy with an opinion.
      People can and will use these tools if it makes their lives better. It just doesn't make sense to *push* this stuff on people that have more important and urgent things to deal with.

      That is what Etherium was suppose to solve, but it has become misguided. You have touched on the endgame problem. Andreas is correct BTC will never be shut down but I fear it will be rendered useless. What happens when the government (say the USA) or more correctly the Fed or IMF or BIS announces their hard fork of BTC. "BTCUSA" or "BitcoinFed", now all you btc owners get a 1:1 coin. The government restricts any corp from receiving btc and requires all commerce/taxes, etc... in the country (say USA) to be conducted in btcusa, using the full power of the FTC, IRS and the rest of the governmental alphabet. I think most noobs will roll over because they don't really understand what is at stake. Little will they realize the BTCUSA white paper will allow them to make more coins or some centralized nonsense involving mining. Something that will allow every citizen to start mining and basically receive a universal income. All the sheeple will go for it and then a few years later after the point of mass adoption they will demand all paper cash be turned in, then start making BTCUS coins or reducing mining fees and squeeze the basic income down.

      Andeas's expressive wonderment of our future society''s exchanging crytpo-values for goods is sweet & sour. On three occassions in this talk he used the word 'economy' when the word society was more apt. Sadly this brilliant, international fiducial, cultural & social therapist is ignorant to the fact that ALL socialism/capitalism economic theories are unjust and the alternative to both is an equality of oppertunity arising from Rasrism. Digestion will not include the tart and tangy face pull so common in audiences when taxation theory is promolgated by those of whom know better but choose to Kowtow to the encumbent public office holders who serve a private corporations operating as a government institution. Of which the citizens is compelled to serve.

    This might sound strange but the power of the blockchain is its decentralisation - yes. And yet it's as though the bitcoin blockchain is currently a focus of centralisation. I'm not familiar with the intricacies of the coding and mathematics involved, but is it possible to have a system where a new blockchain is created every time someone wants to participate in the trade of a particular commodity? So let's say there are the people who trade wheat or salt or whatever. They have their own discrete blockchain. I guess what I'm suggesting is that rather than scaling up bitcoin, is it possible to separate it into many smaller blockchains that are used by communities whose members will quite naturally do a lot of trading with each other. I hope this makes sense to someone.

    • @heathergrahame9647
      @heathergrahame9647 7 років тому

      There might be coins for particular commodities but there might also be coins for local communities who do regular transactions amongst themselves. So each person would have wallets for a variety of coins and those coins would reflect the "circles" or communities of which that person participates as a trading member. I'm seeing Venn diagrams here.

    • @heathergrahame9647
      @heathergrahame9647 7 років тому

      And there might yet be a Fed coin ;)

    • @heathergrahame9647
      @heathergrahame9647 7 років тому

      Nature is such a source of inspiration! When a living thing seeks to grow, it divides its cells - and then those cells grow, and then it divides those cells again ... Can such a thing be done with crypto coins and trade?

    • @heathergrahame9647
      @heathergrahame9647 7 років тому

      I think ultimately the world will trade in numerous "small" coins which are locally based. And dare I suggest it, I think one day bitcoin itself will no longer exist. But for now (and for many years to come) bitcoin will be the primary method by which people transition and exchange from fiat currencies to cryptocurrencies. Once they have bitcoin, they can then exchange that for other more locally-based cryptos which pertain to their particular trading habits.

    • @heathergrahame9647
      @heathergrahame9647 7 років тому +1

      I think if banks were smart (and here I mean local banks, not those dead shits that have monopolised world money) ... but if local banks were smart, they would act as exchanges from fiat to bitcoin. But then citizens would need to be able to exchange their money through the bank anonymously and I'm not sure that banks would or could do that. The government, in its grasp for tax dollars, will no doubt seek to monitor people's use of money via banks. Poor governments. They're in so much debt to the dead shit monopolisers and people are going to progressively hide their money in cryptos and not pay tax. I predict Trump is going to declare the USA bankrupt.

    So naif that idea of freeing the world from monopoly of currency and banks and also to refuse to consider the possibility of some intelligent agency behind the whole technology even when it's of public knowledge that SHA 256 was devised by NSA and that ARPANET, the predecesor of Internet, was a US military project. What will happen when government goes global? Will it be then possible to regulate bitcoin and crypto currencies?
    By the way this guy is so good as a speaker. I'd like to be like him 😅

    Andreas, it seems to me that we have a shift in the way people invest in companies and their technology. The shift is occurring, I think away from traditional model of people owning shares of a company to people investing in companies via they are number one asset, their token. As such, could you please inform us which companies are offering tokens for supporting the core ideals inherent in Bitcoin. I am particularly looking for companies that are working on actual infrastructure and the ecosystem.

    I watch these videos because it's Andreas and it's his channel, but I gotta be honest these videos aren't informative at all for me, and are usually dated as fuck. NO way of knowing how old the video is or if he's uploaded the same clip to his channel already. The information on this channel is limited.

    Can we get a talk a week? This feels dated already.
