    I'm so glad you're back! This may seem repetitive to you but I really enjoy it when you do these cleaning videos.
    I stopped using a spray on my hard surfaces and they look better. I just take a flylady purple rag and I dampen with a couple sprays from a bottle that has filtered water in a drop of dish soap. I like essential oil for scent so I add that in mint. After a few weeks of using this my surfaces are so much more shiny. The sprays that I used to use in the past used to aggravate my throat and make me cough. Keep in mind that I have sealed furniture and not antique. I have started using highly diluted just soap not only to dust with but also is my everyday cleaner in my kitchen. I also used it to do my bathroom sink. If I really want something disinfected, I use half-and-half filtered water and very cheap vodka. I stopped using vinegar because it also was making me cough.

    Yes, Diane, to the physical timer, feather dusting, consistent cleaning, non- toxic products & indoor shoes! Ready to get into a new season of life! Even though DD18 has began online college, the temps are the highest ever, close to 100F bc August is our warmest time. Whew! Fall temps will be around 60- 70F... bring them soon, please! Our summer state fair ended over the wknd and I placed 1st and 3rd on my knitting. DD18 placed 3rd on her yummy chocolate pound cake with raspberry sauce. I found the same cleaning caddy at The Container Store in the US --and it is even stamped "made in Sweden." (I could not find it at IKEA USA online or in the store.
    I got one for makeup so it fits in a dresser drawer and I can take mirrors and all to where ever the best lighting is. Storing everything in a drawer helps me surfaces clutter-free.
    I also keep a picnic basket on top of my dresser to conceal lotion pump bottles tissue box, scissors and other things I frequently use. Keeping things clear and simple makes cleaning faster and easier.
    I have learned that by observing Diane's decorating style of having just enough things out to be functional and cozy but not cluttered.
    Diane: Do you think about "lagom" when you are deciding what to keep out or put away? For example, coffee maker out on the counter but Instapot put away. And I love the way your night stand clutter slides into your headboard. Please talk us through your thought process on keeping things out of sight.
    My morning routine goes so much faster since I followed your example and simplified my bedding. No more 5 trips around the bed with unnecessary layers and decorative pillows.
    THANK YOU!!! ❤❤❤

    I very rarely see spiders or webs in the house, I do have to sweep out the garage! I got out my fall transitional clothes, and packed away the height of summer things this morning while I listened to you. Duvet cover is in the machine. Nice sunny day to dry outside. Did my banking hamper that I keep in my room. I do not own any jewelry or accessories. Today will be a son’s errands. He detailed my car over the weekend , so I am very happy. Revisited the weekly plan and made the needed adjustments, this week is a bit different !

    Diane...there has been a discussion on FlyLady UK group about dusting and polishing and we've concluded that polishing is for the more detailed zone clean. But then it raised a question.....today as you have cleaned in your bedroom...is this part of your zone clean (I know you do glass in the zone from WHB) or is it part of your WHB and you will feather dust and flat dust surfaces in high traffic areas elsewhere in your home too? Or will it be both today...a WHB in HT areas plus a zone clean in chunks throughout the week? I hope that question makes sense and I've not gone around and about too much!! Thanks Diane xx

    • @DianeinDenmark
      @DianeinDenmark  5 років тому +1

      Hi Karen! Great questions! My weekly home blessing doesn't include the bedroom (our bedroom is not a high traffic area, we don't wear shoes inside the house, we don't have pets which shed, we don't eat or drink in our bedroom - other people may be in a different situation). I detail clean the bedroom once per month, when we are in zone 4. I also dust off the flat surfaces in the room when I am changing sheets (I use the pillowcases which are heading for the wash) in order to keep the room spick and span during the course of the month. When I am doing my WHB (which I break up over the week), the part where we shine mirrors/doors/glass - yes, that I do in the current zone. So this week it was the bedroom zone 4, next week I will do the living room, zone 5. Hope that helps!

  • @KN-dy4hm
    @KN-dy4hm 5 років тому

    But if you dust only with this mop... the dust gets only in the air... isn't it dusty again very fast? The dust is still in the room an still in the air?

    • @DianeinDenmark
      @DianeinDenmark  5 років тому +1

      Hello! No, the dust doesn't hang in the air. The feather duster sucks up the dust (it is static) and then you shake the feather duster outside when you are finished. Same with the hand duster. It collects the dust, then you shake it outside (and then I wash it, ready for next time). Hope that helps!

    Could you please clarify, do you only dust your bedroom once a month when in zone 4? Or, do you dust bedroom again as part of weekly home blessing?

    • @eileencarroll6418
      @eileencarroll6418 5 років тому +2

      My understanding is that WHB is for the main traffic areas and we can add the zone area once a month. Plus we can customize to our own homes. I do WHB and zone vacuuming on the same day so I only have to wrestle the vacuum cleaner out of the closet once (and I don't have to go to the gym that day because I get my weight lifting at home). 🤣👍🥂

    • @margaretsofocleous8137
      @margaretsofocleous8137 5 років тому +1

      Marla says you can feather dust the whole house very quickly in the weekly home blessing but Diane doesn't include her bedroom in her whb I think. Marla the flylady does a weekly homeblessing video every Monday just 2 minutes a task but I couldn't dust in 2 minutes. Diane does not include bedrooms in her whb but who knows she might lightly dust as she tidies and makes her bed

    • @DianeinDenmark
      @DianeinDenmark  5 років тому +1

      Hi Kristin! I also dust my bedroom whenever I am changing sheets... When I change over the sheets, I use the used pillowcases to give the room a dust before I fling them in the hot wash. A great shortcut and keeps the bedroom looking nice.
