Props to this woman. She wasn't posting to get compensation or to get a freebie. She was posting to warn others not to do business with this terrible company.
Trust me she wanted money
@@Joe-lc3svtrust me your bitch ass would to I’d this was your situation
@@Joe-lc3sv Trust you? You don't exist except as a jumble of letters and numbers on a 12 subscriber zero content page. Try harder.
@@Joe-lc3svNO, SHE DID NOT
No she posted to get attention nothing more!
If rooms are moldy they should not be rented out. 😢
Right, they put that statement out talking about, "...like all other hotels get in a humid climate..." okay, then don't rent those rooms to patrons then, simple.
That was the front desk person fault.
And if they are, those customers should sue and call the local health department to have them shut that place down.
really, ya think?
Oh fr?
the resort MUST refund! thats so reckless
They tried, she refused. Since she refused she can sue and will just get her money back. Courts are jammed so shell see the refund 3 years from now unless she takes a settlement. No one wins really in the end.
@@JustDiane71 lol no. Stop making stuff up. She didn’t refuse a refund. They offered a refund only on specific terms. She’s allowed to post a review and should still get a refund.
@@JustDiane71tell us our your comprehension skills are TERRIBLE
@@JustDiane71 Tell us you don't have even 2 coherent braincells without telling us. 🙄
She can receive a refund by disputing the charges with her credit card company. Once they see the video and statement from the hotel, it shouldn't be an issue.
Seamist should refund a valid unsatisfied customer regardless of what they post. Bad service from start to finish.
For them not to give her a refund at all should be an automatic lawsuit. They knew how filthy those rooms were but still wanted to scam people into renting them. Hope that place shuts down very soon.
An automatic lawsuit? Why are you people so pressed to sue someone? Smh
@@DavidKen878 because if you’re gonna treat people like that and steal their money, then shouldn’t that be a valid thing to do? I don’t understand what your point is.
@@luckettt. I didn't say it wasn't a valid thing to do. Whether or not it was valid wasn't my question.
@@DavidKen878 because if that is black mold then someone could end up in the hospital.
She should still get a refund as that room was uninhabitable and I’m sure the whole place was. Hope she can dispute the charge with credit card company
No I have basically lived in myrtle beach and those conditions are NOT normal!
Amen to that. Neglect is what causes this. Lived in some humid places and never have I had to clean up this kind of mess from it.
Maybe not the mold but alot of them hotels/ motels/ resorts have bed bugs 🪳, roaches 🪳 among other things. Myrtle Beach has been in decline for years and nobody is trying to fix it.
@@educatedhorses193 so I have noticed. At one time it was the ultimate place to go for a fun vacation. Now you couldn’t pay me to go.
@@educatedhorses193 It's the worst beach in South Carolina. It's so sad that it's the most well-known beach in the state. But it's also good because that's exactly why it's so horrible. So many people know about it and its reputation that they just don't care when they visit, and the owners of the properties have simply given up (not condoning the giving up, but it's the reason).
Yes they are.
With the accumulation of mold indicates that cleaning is not being done. Cleaning and thorough vacuuming removes most mold spores. Young lady deserves her refund. And not take down video.
Hotel: "Well you won't be getting that free stay."
Customer: 😐😑
Trying to offer her a stay at the same place she complained about is crazy. Give that woman her money back or use the money to fix the problem.
Those accommodations are completely unacceptable! If the unit was on a list to be cleaned it SHOULD NOT have been rented. The unwillingness of the resort to make things right is also unacceptable.
I was thinking the same thing
Ewwww. $700??! I’d demand my money back. That’s more like a $20 stay…for both nights.
I could sleep in a tent for 20
Every resort might have to deal with mold due to the humidity but the mold in their rental obviously went untreated for at least some months!
Sea Mist has been a hellhole since the late 80s
Traumatized lmao. Shoulda gone to Camp Anaconda in Basra. 😂 looks luxury compared to that. Maybe dont go to an area where certain frequent.
thank you
I think you meant to say "Myrtle Beach", not "Sea Mist".
Yes, I am aware the name of the "hotel" (imo, this is a garbage garage with multiple rooms) is Sea Mist. I was being facecious...but also serious.
One is a military base, the other is a civilian resort hotel. They are not like each other.
If they don’t give that lady her money back! TF?! What kind of extortionist offer was that?!
A non existent one😂
Call you CC Co with the images and those they posted when lying. Simple. Refute the charges.
Sea Mist is the WORST, but they’re all awful, honestly. It’s unbelievable they’re still operating.
I live in Houston, less than 20 miles from the Gulf. We do not have mold issues here, despite our high humidity. I think it's more of an HVAC issue.
A free stay😂😅??? Are the kidding? You couldn't pay me to stay there and affect my ability to breathe! Mold is serious!!
Same experience. I booked the jacuzzi suite and it was FILTHY. I got a refund and drove down the strip and got a room at Crown Reef. Scared to book sight unseen at Myrtle beach now
So glad she wasn't looking for something else in return (even though it would have been legitimized) it speaks loads to her character as a person. I miss these kind.of people, simply only trying to get the word out. God bless her
Thank you for reporting this.
Myrtle Beach was awesome in the early 2000s. The problem now is that most of those hotels are 30+ years old and are being held together with fast-paced maintenance. A hotel with less than 10 years of age is just about your only option for a "decent" stay, but it's going to be expensive. High volume, rapid turnover room rentals don't leave any time for upkeep. Do yourself a favor if you're going to ANY beach; save up a little extra if you can and rent a house - even if it's just a small one. The experience is so much better, and there are no screaming morons to deal with.
Sea Mist Resort: We rent out rooms that are on the maintenance block... come experience our maintenance block rooms😐
South Carolina doesn't have a mold law - those of us that RENT here live in it year around because the landlords dont have to address the issue
SC has NO mold law
My god
Yes, I have stayed in some really dank places there before. And on top of that the crime there is on rampage.
It’s been nasty for over 15 years now. Just read the reviews
@@Abears_ exactly but careful or you will be accused of victim blaming by the idiots
@@figgy4 I could care less about their poor little feelings lol
The lady has a slam dunk small claims court case. There is an implied warranty of suitability in just about everything you buy or CONTRACT for. Would a reasonable person consider that hotel room suitable for habitation? And the owners admission the room was "on block for mold remediation" is an admission management knew the room wasn't fit for habitation.... but they rented anyway... file your lawsuit, they'll payoff like a slot machine... Nobody is stupid enough to take that to Court.
I remember back in the old days, late 60's/70's long before internet, you just drove to your destination and hoped for a vacancy sign. Dad would go in, ask rates and the office person would take you to check out your room in person. Then you knew what you were getting. Of course today is more convenient knowing you have your chosen room reserved, picked out by hopefully honest reviews & photos. But things can be different from room to room, day to day, despite reviews.
My family has owned ocean front condos in Florida for 50+ years. Even with multiple hurricanes, we never have had mold like seen in the video. Even after Hurricane Ian ran sea water through the condo.
Myrtle Beach used to be so nice looking years ago, nowadays….it’s a smelly run down overpriced tourist trap 💀
We recently went to MB for the first time in many years. I was surprised at the number of abandoned businesses and property, and a general seedy feel. Also shocked at the number of once crowded golf courses that have closed. Just wasn’t much to be excited about! It’ll be a long time, if ever, before I go back!
Contact your credit card company and have the charges rescinded!!!!
Great advice, I thought the same thing.
@@mattp4079 what are you insinuating? Keyboard warrior.coward
@@mattp4079apparently she did dum@$$
They said "every hotel faces mold because of the climate"...umm yeah you might get a faint mildew smell by the beach, but you shouldn't be able to visibly see any mold! That means they didn't clean the room. And for $350 a night, yikes
You are exactly right.
North Myrtle Beach is much nicer and cleaner than Myrtle Beach. We love NMB. I don’t care a thing about MB. NMB is much more family oriented and has a better clientele.
Exactly what I told my friends... If it's not North, I'm not going. Except for the Palms & Breakers & maybe a select other handful
I only go to North Myrtle now. I used to own a beach house in a large resort that we rented out in the south strand area. But downtown Myrtle Beach where the original Pavilion used to be is looking rundown and like skid row.
YES!! We rent a condo in North Myrtle Beach and everything is better there....except the dopes who light fireworks on the beach even though it is against the law.
@@gregdolecki8530oh noesssss not illegal fireworks!!! 😱😱😱
Okay, I can understand being disgusted and outraged, but traumatized? Come on now.
“the unit was on maintenance block to be treated for mold” so then why were you putting people in a room that you knew had mold in it?
“which is a regular issue at every resort in a humid climate” if that was the case, why were you trying to get her to remove the video?
i’ve stayed in motels that are $65 per night that are far nicer than that
Reminds me of the La Quinta in Lewisville, Texas. Roaches, ripped carpets, holes in the wall, etc. It was so bad, they eventually tore the entire building down. Extremely poor management.
Thank you Kelly and WBTW 13, for sharing this information
Everything in Myrtle Beach seems to have gone downhill in the last few years
Please take them to court. Please.
“Trauma” is being so overused that it is loosing its impact. Maybe we could save it for actual trauma: war, terrible car crashes, abuse, civilian gunfire… It is hard enough for those of us who suffer from real PTSD to be taken seriously without using the term to describe dirty hotel rooms.
DITTO ⚜️
You are mentally handicapped if you think only PTSD victims experience trauma. Stfu and stop gatekeeping just because you find someone's trauma to be lesser than your own. You think you are special? Grow up.
Dirty hotel room - not trauma.
Yep, 2 words that are over used and incorrectly used are trauma and overwhelmed. Overwhelmed is when you spouse died, your kid is sick, and you house is being foreclosed on. Not that you have to decide which hotel you want to stay at on your vacation.
The worst beach rental I have ever purchased was in Myrtle beach.
I wouldn’t take a dump at the sea mist. Must less spend the night.
😂😂😂
"Much less."
Me and her had the same reaction, “what?” 😭
They weren't that great in the early 2000s, so I can only imagine the wear and tear at this point of still being open. 😢
Well done! You were able to use social media in a good way! You did the right thing! I’ll pray you don’t get sick from it!
I feel stalked I’m going to Myrtle beach today and I’m showed this 😩
That is def hurricane water damage that was painted over and covered up . The owners did not do remediation mold removal . Black mold has to be removed from air ducts , walls need to be taken back to stud or further. Flooring needs to be ripped up etc. that entire hotel is infested with black mold because it will travel through the ventilation system . The state needs to step in and shut this establishment down until it passes strict inspection guide lines !! The places in Myrtle beach are a lot of times airbnb , vrbo etc. I know cause family goes there ever year. I would not stay in these rental communities even if they were free. No one can convince me that are properly maintained and cleaned thoroughly. It’s all about turn around times and money. Who is inspecting these rentals to make sure they are being maintained? No one they fly under the radar . Hotels at least have inspections yearly for safety issues and maintenance. They may not clean like we clean our homes but at least they are being monitored . We only stay at the big chains Marriott , Hilton etc no mom & pop places.
She should seek full refund and discard everything she brought with her because black mold spores are now now on her stuff, clothes luggage etc. I live in Florida so I know humidity and water damage all too well! A few drops of water leaking under a sink can cause major mold damage in a matter of days.
Sea Mist is nasty. Dont stay there.
There is a reason it has mist in it's name.
@@theseether6😂😂😂
The 2.5 google review score should have told her that before she even booked. With that said, she still deserves a full refund!
Man I was at the Sea Mist in 06 that thing was ratty as hell back then
Ive been there one night 3 yrs ago and it was filthy also!! Never go here
I see everyone is seeing this one year later! Crazy!
This also happened to my family and i😢. Sorry this happened
We call it murder beach. We never go there anymore.
We had the same problem at Crown Reef 5 mins from this mentioned hotel. Terrible conditions at stupid prices.
Can people stop using the word “trauma” like that
Maybe it was traumatic for her!!
@@paulapii1761then she's weak
Good for you for letting people know. I had this experience years ago. Pre social media. I wish I could have done just this. Thankfully the place I stayed at Old Orchard Beach is now closed.
Absolutely disgusting and a health risk. If it was on maintenance block for mold, it should have never been rented to a patron. Wonder if she’s consulted with an attorney?
Reminds me of a hotel I stayed in near Ft. Polk, LA as an Army Nurse attending instructor training there. Carpet was so bad we wore socks in our room. 😵💫
If I stay at any hotel I bring my indoor shoes-crocs to wear.
im a trucker on the road alot and everywhere u go its just the product of work and most people dont like to work so most resturants and motels and gas station and rest area bathrooms are nasty most of the time
Hotel manager: "ma'am, the mold is just part of the ambiance." Lol
Stayed in a place like that for about 5 hours. Biggest roaches I’ve ever seen and the little ones got in the fridge and we had to throw away all our food we’d just gotten from the grocery.
Wow, with those conditions and the way the resort responded they just destroyed their own business.
Wow, that’s unacceptable 🤢 I am sorry that happened to you
SO DISGUSTING!! What the heck would make them believe that she would want to come back? What they heck do they mean on a maintenance block to be treated?! How about treat it and THEN let a guest stay there! I just canceled my stay at the same resort in August. Thank you for bringing this to the publics attention
Use to be a nice small hotel. Foreigners now own most of the small hotels and motels.
If a room has mold, it should not be rented out. Good for her for documenting this so that others are aware!
"We were traumatized" = "We are going to sue" A refund will not be enough. Disgusting that this motel allowed people to stay there.
Outrageous they didn't instantly refund her. Why in the world are they renting out rooms that are in need of maintenance?! Thank you to her for leaving the video up to warn fellow travelers. We need to help each other out. Kudos to her.
I use to go to myrtle beach every year. But it kept getting crappier and crappier
At least at the Super 8, you get free leftover pizza a complimentary crackpipe from the last guest 😂
As bad as that is, I’ve been through ten times worse than that on a couple of occasions.
I’m in a Seamist hotel right now💀
That mold can kill someone especially for those of us with lung issues. That’s nasty.
Sea Mist used to be a nice resort too. Myrtle Beach used to be a nice vacation spot...........
Good for her for not removing the video. I wouldn't want to stay there either.
I lived in SW Fl and it never got cold there. It being in a humid climate is not an excuse. If you clean and run dehumidifiers in wet areas you dont get mold like in this story. This motel obviously doesnt clean and probably doesnt even change the bed sheets.
I reside in Myrtle Beach 🏖️ I recommend that anyone staying in Hotels here, read the reviews FIRST !
People don't read reviews at all anymore. People don't even leave reviews anymore. Now they go make a ridiculous TikTok and go viral.
that mold is caused by turning off the A/C units in the rooms when they are vacant to save money on electricity. I live in South Florida. Marriot doesn't seem to have this issue. Neither does Embassy sweets. Or any other hotel or motel I've ever stayed at in Florida. It's not a humidity issue. It's an air conditioning issue
I’ve lived on the East Coast most of my life. It is humid af…and I’ve never lived with mold like that. That is NOT normal.
Beach Colony got me my mother and brother sick from mold in 2022. Place also had leaks. It was a nightmare. We got moved to this location because the other location they lied about the room availability and also how many rooms and beds. Theu told use about the other location when i was driving there and was half way there. So we was sent to Beach Colony and was moved twice while staying at the Beach Colony. This location was horrible and the who building should be closed.
I’ve been there it’s brutal
This word trauma is thrown around way too much these days.
A great thank you to this woman!!
I’ve read multiple reports where companies have turned on their customers and sued them after getting negative feedback from them. Hopefully this doesn’t happen here.
our room at sand dunes had roaches they offered us a free 4 day stay and a refund
I owned a beach house and the humid ocean air can be a perfect breeding ground for mold, but that doesn't mean all places are moldy, you just have to use more elbow grease down here. I must add that with the humid ocean air and people who can't comprehend to rinse their bodies of sand after visiting the beach, it's hell on washing machines, rust is more of an issue than mold. Mold can be controlled with proper cleaning.
WOE!!!! I’ve seen some crazy hotels but THIS is ridiculous! MY GAWD!!
It's become a dump
Ew! I wouldn’t even touch anything in that room, it was a health hazard! Lady should sue for her money back & for what she had to spend for a new, clean hotel room. If it was being treated, why was it rented out?🤨🤦🏼♀️
Now that’s a hotel that Gordon Ramsay needs to have an episode of Hotel Hell on.
If you get sick at a restaurant eating some bad chicken, you don’t offer the customer more free chicken! 😂😂
I went on a vacation that cost 10,000 to stay for a week on a resort in Florida, tne carpets were so dirty like they’ve never been steamed carpet cleaned, my girl wrote a long bad review and the resort manager offered us the 10,000 to remove the review, we got a free vacation lol
I stayed at this place back in 2016 for 5 days as apart of a timeshare compensation for sitting through one of those information sessions. It was soooo trash.
It's not just here. I called about Molten Mountain having black mold everywhere inside with no ventilation. I was an environmental investigator at the time and the local health department said there was nothing that they could do... ridiculous
That's not just a little bit of mold, it's been growing there awhile!! That stuff can be deadly too!! 🤢 Yikers!!!
Also, I think what the company did by demanding her to remove her video or no refund is a form of extortion! 🤷🏻♀️
We booked a room at a “nice” resort in Myrtle Beach. I was up late while my wife and kids were sleeping. I SAW A BED BUG!
We stuck the bug to a piece of tape and took it down to the front desk. The night manager and employee saw it. AT MIDNIGHT they moved us to another room. A maintenance person inspected the room we were staying in and couldn’t find anything. AFTER WE GOT BACK HOME FROM OUR WEEKEND STAY, they refuted our claim and would not return our money.
**I wish the local government of Myrtle Beach would step in and start holding these places accountable because it tarnishes the reputation of Myrtle Beach.**
We live in SC but have not stayed in Myrtle Beach for years because of the pervasive reputation it has.
Because of that incident, wherever we go, we inspect every single bed upon entering a room .
I inspect the room first as well. I also bring my own cleaning supplies and wipe everything down.
You walk immediately and then refuse the charge. Simple. Get evidence.
Hotels, car rentals, airlines… you name it. They have become less efficient and extremely expensive.
I'm willing to believe that mold is a common issue for seaside resorts, but that doesn't explain why you _sold_ the room. Especially when you admit it had already been marked to be treated for mold when you sold it.
Traumatized?! It’s not a dead body ffs
If it was scheduled for maintenance, then the front desk agent should never have put guests in the room! I'm calling BS on their statement.
*”The unit was on maintenance block to be treated for mold”* …Yet was still rented out knowing there’s a dangerous mold inside? 🤦♂️ *What idiot is running this company’s PR department?* That’s literally an admission of guilt and based on that statement alone, she can easily sue the hotel & win in court. They (the resort) should have sought legal counsel from a lawyer before responding on social media.
I’ve worked in commercial cleaning and know that is NOT normal regardless of the area climate, it’s a cleaning issue. I assume that they turn the *Air Conditioning* unit off when there aren’t guest around in an effort to ‘save’ on the utility bills then turn them on when the guests are in their way or the unit is barely on, it’s not cool enough so the room stays humid.
