      80£ to fix a laptop that doesn't turn on. Fixing the 4GB Memory Module it was free of charge.
      Same idea, if a laptop comes with frozen bios and need 1 minute work. You charge a laptop
      that doesn't turn on, not a frozen bios.
      In the other way, you have to work like 3-4 hours to fix a laptop and get paid 80£, this is also
      something that happens to our job. Get used to it.

    This is amazing video. the attention to detail was brilliant. i was facing similar situation with liquid damage and after this video i go back to the microscope and pay extra attention to the pads, and BEHOLD there was a broken track right at a tiny via.
    Soldered a jumper wire to the other side and now RAM works perfect. I almost gave up and replaced it with a new one but this video just gave my RAM a little extra life. THANK YOU SORIN!!

    Hi Sorin, enjoy your videos. I have a saying that I taught many systems engineers in my trade. " Don't look for a complicated solution to a simple problem" We all do it 🙂

  • @nikkopt
    @nikkopt 10 місяців тому +5

    "Coming from a local repair shop", imagine being a computer repair shop and not being able to diagnose a dead ram module, something that in this case costs 10€ brand new and with warranty. It's literally one of easiest things to diagnose since you can pop a good module in to test it. Computer clearly turns on and they write "no power". If the client asks why he's being charged 80 pounds for something so cheap they'll say "you pay for our years of experience and knowledge", not that they needed to send the machine to someone else. Enough with the rant, good job as always Sorin.

    • @orange11squares
      @orange11squares 10 місяців тому

      well, in that case they are good to pay....if they do not know simple things or are not willing to do simple work then they should pay.....for the job regardless of how simple it is.

    • @nikkopt
      @nikkopt 10 місяців тому +1

      @@orange11squares by the way, when I said "client" I was talking about the owner of the laptop.

    • @jayvanhorn6372
      @jayvanhorn6372 10 місяців тому

      Possibly it was dead and no error code indicated faulty RAM. "Could be?!" 😂

    • @g4z-kb7ct
      @g4z-kb7ct 10 місяців тому

      The guy paid 80 pounds specifically because of their lack of experience and knowledge. If they actually knew what they were doing they would have correctly diagnosed the ram and replaced it. That's why you should never take faulty items to noobs or cowboys.

    • @nikkopt
      @nikkopt 10 місяців тому

      @@g4z-kb7ct You misunderstood my message. When i said "Client" i meant the laptop owner. When i said "they'll say", i meant the repair shop. And maybe it's different in your country but in mine people don't usually carry around a golden plaque saying they are noobs or cowboys. You have no way of knowing which one is a good technician or not.

    Unreal cool repair! Surprising after brainwashing that touching memory wrong is harmful. Not only did Sorin's calibrated wire work, his repair proved that heating memory chips to 350 degrees and moving it slightly did not kill it! Not following his own logic demonstrated something very interesting.

    Logic would also state to try the repaired ram in the ORIGINAL socket. This is where it was when it came in, and this is where the water damage likely occurred, so it would make sense to also ensure it works (no doubt it would work!) in the OG socket. This would also prevent a 'come back' if the customer puts a stick in that socket and it fails. Again the testing of the OG socket would be purely for video footage as I'm sure it would work without issue. Great video Sorin!

    metal probe. The solder has a better surface to adhere to as well.
