The song so many pretended they didn't like, but knew all the words to and would be singing along in an instant. Until they realized someone was watching them. Lol
No he didn't. He was basically a trainee at a music production company. All the clothes he's wearing are his own. He wasn't prepared at all, and just made up those dance moves on the spot.
We all were shocked when this video first dropped.. LOL it was jamming on the radio for weeks.. Then WHAMMO.. White dude! I messed my son up with this too.. Hahahaha
Sadly, Rick developed a fear of flying which ended his music career. Apparently, he has conquered that fear because he is currently touring Europe and will be here in the states soon.
@@melissagerber7231 Rick Springfield was also initially an introvert. His first concerts actually had him hiding behind the speakers for most of his performance lol
His voice got a lot better with age. He was around 18 when he recorded this song. If you want to hear how his voice grew, check out 'Cry for Help', 'Hopelessly', and 'Angels on my Side'.
The 1980's was the BEST DECADE for music - great to see you appreciate Rick's music & other music from the 80's. I LOVED growing up in the 80's Best music just the best decade.
Rick comes from my hometown, he was the drummer and the band he was in called FBI used to practice in my mates tyre fitting garage. One time the singer was to ill to perform so Rick stepped in and was heard by producer Pete Waterman (of Stock, Aitken and Waterman) and signed Rick. The rest is history.
I love it! One of his cousins is a homey of mine - they both have red hair and freckles, and his cousin is a great DJ...he can hear the baseline out to the 100th beat & beyond... some talented gingers in that family's gene pool!
Seeing this white dude actually sing with those vocals in person must be a mind-bending, next level experience... it would be like witnessing a black dude pull off the best trick ever on a skateboard. 😂
One of my favorite songs growing up and still is. Just to see that voice come out of him is amazing. He looks like a 16 year old kid. Love your all's energy. Great videos! Much love! J.
Remember when you heard the song first and then saw the video.....when I first heard this song I loved it...but then to see the guy that voice came from was a surprise for sure lol
Hey Christy, my grandchildren, ages 5 and 7 love this song along with "Together Forever". They know all the words , love to sing along with Rick, and love the videos as well. Of course, I have introduced them to other classics like, "Dancing Queen", "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", "I Just Wanna Dance With Somebody" , You Should Be Dancing", "September", you get the idea. Might as well expose them to the best music when they are young. :)

He recorded this song in the 1980s. And you gotta hear his version of Nat King Coles song When I Fall In Love. The similarity in their voices is eerie. I think anyway.
I know he's just got a few songs but I was totally in love with Rick back in the day, I was also totally convinced that voice wasn't coming out of him. LOL Love the Reaction!
Classic case of NEVER judge a book by its cover!!! His debut single, that went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for 2 weeks (March 12th & 19th, 1988). Yeah it happens. First time I heard why do fools fall in love, I thought it was sung by a teenaged white girl. Then thanks to youtube, I discovered Frankie lymon sang that song very talented young man back in the 50s with his group.

Always jumped up to dance to this song. Great voice, song. Thanks for reacting to this classic dance song. Another white guy that is mistaken for a black man is Mick Hucknall..... the lead vocal in the band Simply Red. Mick and Rick both have red hair.
When I first heard this song, I pictured the singer to be black, but I also pictured him to be really big . . . . like a football player. He sounds like a really big dude.
When you expect the singer to be black and you get the whitest guy ever.🤣 I was little when this song came out, so I never thought anything about him sounding not white til I started seeing reactions.

Rick Astley probably had no idea he would become immortalized by this song. Lol
Immortalized he surely is !!!
He was 19 in this video.....
The best thing is he totally embraced it and accepted that the meme made him even bigger than when the song first came out.

Congratulations on your first Rick Roll. YOU HAVE JUST BEEN RICK ROLLED.
Rick is a drummer and was asked to come in to to a back track for a band, but they asked him could he sing, he wasn’t sure. This is the result.
The Rick Roll never disappoints. He looks like they had to finish the video in a hurry so he could get home before 9pm curfew. lol

21, I think.
