    Nemophila - "baby blue eyes" flower, "Rurikarakusa" in Japanese; grows in N-America and is appreciated in Japan (see "Hitachi Seaside Park").
    The band was formed in 2019, originally as a "session" brought together by...
    Mayu - the vocalist (ex- Lipstick band);
    Haraguchi-san - (ex- HöLDERLINS band) bass, backing vocals, was Mayu's friend and colleague from Music College;
    Tamu Murata - drums, backing vocals, one the most respected session musician in Japan (countless bands), with also her own original carrier; she's also the wife of Akira Yamaoka, musician/composer, known especially for his videogames OSTs, in particular for "Silent Hill";
    Saki (ex - "Mary's Blood" band for a decade, "Destrose", and others), she's a "young sacred monster" in J-metal) guitar, backing vocals, and...
    Hazuki (KOIAI "Dark Indigo" / Li-sa-X, Disqualia bands) - guitar, backing vocals; both, Saki and Hazuki have a lot of experience.
    Unfortunately, Saki left the band in march 2024, after the Budokan concert, thinking that her contribution was enough after more than 4-5 years, pursuing her - successful - solo carrier.
    The band continues in the 4 members form, with Mayu starting to add guitar bits while Haraguchi-san's bass, and Hazuki's guitar becomes more prominent.
    Nemophila, with their self-declared "Jigoku no Yurufuwa" (soft and fluffy hell) general metal-rock style, made an amazing fandom impression during the pandemic, thru UA-cam clips...
    ...so far about 50 Western/Japanese awesomely bonkers covers, and about 40 original, freakishly insane good songs (singles, EPs - including the JPURecords' Extended Edition of "Oiran", 3 albums - "Revive", "Seize The Faith", "Evolve").

    I just returned from Japan after having my Nemophila concert cancelled. Shite happens right. Poor Mayu got COVID so hope she's up and running soon. The only thing that made up for my Nemophila disappointment was watching a new easy core band called Launcher No.8. I saw them twice and they were great live and reminded me so much of my other Japanese favorite in Hanabie. Particularly when Hanabie first started. Launcher No.8 will have a music video out soon but for people reading this, check some of the mobile recorded (some with just ok quality phone recorded sound unfortunately) live shots on UA-cam. Their sound live was spot on and was awesome and Ruka (Luka) the lead singer has a ripper scream. With good management they will become big for sure.

    You sure do need to do more Nemophila. They have plenty of songs that mix Mayu's harsh vocals with her melodic voice, but their range of musical styles is pretty vast - they do it all.
    A few to try: 'Ama-Te-Ras', 'Rise', 'Revive', 'Adabana', 'Hypnosis' and the live version of 'OIRAN' from 1 yr ago (specifically that one and not the other versions. The live from last year is perfection.)

      I second all these suggestions and definitely the live version of 'OIRAN'...one of their earliest songs as a group.

    First song as a 4-piece and Mayu wrote a banger!
    Also, check out 'Ama-Te-Ras' for a great mix of cleans and harsh vocals plus a 'groovy metal' feel...super unique and another of their best songs.

    Their first release since guitarist Saki left the band earlier this year. Nemophila as a 4 piece will be just fine. Unlike Zen, this is more representative of most of their music, with a nice mix of clean and harsh vocals. Love Mayu's screams.
    Yes, you need to do more from them. "Dissension" is one a lot start with, and try the official live for "Oiran". Another new song dropped a couple days ago, called "Progress" (audio only so far).
