Square Golf have released an official protective case for their launch monitor. How good is it and how does it compare to some of the third party cases that have already been made? Here are my initial thoughts and first impressions.

Got my square two days ago . First , man do i love it . I cannot believe how good it id and how much better it is than the MLM2 it replaced . How is the new cover ? Well my daughter shanked her driver straight into it and knocked it flying . Picked it up . Realigned it and its working perfectly . It works folks and because it sits forward of your ball it is prone to be hit by a shank .
I bought a 3rd party case and stand. It worked well, I shanked one into the case, no damage to the case or the monitor. One advantage of the the 3rd party case and stand is that I can attach the stand to the exact precise aligned location and move the monitor around to charge it or whatever and not have to worry about re-aligning it.
I am making a leveling stand for these soon as I can get one in hand, to verify fit. Bases are $21

i got my square and protective case a couple days ago, very well built, absolutely loving the square and would not use it without this protective case or some kind of protection, but i will be adding to the case. will be adding a video about that on my channel.
I bought an acrylic food storage jar, drilled the required holes, £5, works great.
I’ve got one from gert at 3d prints and it’s brilliant 👍 I’ve also just got the official case as a gift must say it’s a lot better in real life and looks much stronger than in photos, not yet tried it , but will use it has a back up .
I bought a plastic storage container at Target for $6. It's made from polypropylene, but seems to read just fine. No misreads with it and all the data measures the same as without the case on.
I hit my square launch monitor with a club on accident walking past it and it survived! Looks like the case is already sold out
Do they offer any guarantee with this case? If you shank a ball into it and the unit is damaged do they repair for free or replace???

Would love to know if this works outside, I know they say it’s shouldn’t be but why?
It doesn't work in daylight because too much sunlight interferes with it. I did some tests and 30 min. before sunset in the shade, it worked ok. Any more sunlight and no workie. My silly plan is to use it at dusk, then major lighting to use at night. During dusk I have a TV off to the side, after dark I can do a projector into the screen. So I get full simulator capabilities outside. Could be a good solution for someone who works a real job during the day and doesn't mind only using the golf simulator in the evening.
We need to see you smash a golf ball into it mate... That's the whole point of a protective case review lol

Spike's case looks like it would perform better than this. The fact that there's no gap between the monitor and the official SQUARE case is worrying.
To be honest it looks flimsy. I bought my case from Spike’s Blue Collar Golf and I have no worries.
It’s really does feel very solid
