- Oil on the aperture blades In Asahi Super-Takumar 1:1.4/50
REMEMBER to set a mark on the edge of the front lens mount, as I show in the video, BEFORE unscrew the 3 screws that hold the lens assembly in place, it will in that way set the aperture to be correct when putting in the lens assembly again.
This is the 7 lens element in 6 groups version

I followed your video and successfully resurrected an inoperable lens that was full of rust. Thank you for your videos!
I'm happy to know that Dean :-).
Thank you so much for this detailed video. I have this lens but the aperture ring is stiff so now I know how to try to fix it.
Great! Now I have a way to wind down before I get to sleep ☺️
Keep up the great content!
Thank You Mikeno for this very informative video, I am sure it will be useful to many many people and myself. Cheers mate.
Thanks David :-) I'm glad you also like it.
Love it. Thank you for your vids on the Takumars. I have the exact lens with oil on the blades. Very clear instructions. Great work.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an instagram account?
I stupidly lost my password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Elijah Owen instablaster =)
@Lennox Hunter thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Lennox Hunter It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out !
@Elijah Owen you are welcome :)
hi, amazing video, can you make a video on how to de-click this lens?
Hey Mike! Is it possible to replace the super multi coated 8 aperture blades with the 6 blades from, say, the super takumar? Or perhaps you have a better suggestions? I really like the optics of the 50mm f1.4 smc but I wished it has the hexagon bokeh. Many thanks!
Did you fix the bent filter ring? If yes, how?
Hi i have super takumar 1.8 early version with red dot - could you please tell what could be the problem ? The Auto - Manual switch doesn’t work - whatever the position is - it always acts as Auto - aperture is always opened until I push the pin.
On spotmatic that’s not a problem but when I want to use it on dslr - i cannot use it on lower aperture.
Can you give me advice where could be the problem ? Thanks
I'd wish for having your expertise to fix Lenses like that.
Well Marc, you could start with and simple, very cheap lens from the second hand shop, just to get an idea of how it is to work with that kind of stuff. You will need a JIS00 screw driver and some rubber tool, they are on my list of tools in the description about that lens.
Here is what you at least will need, I hope it can help you.

@@mikeno62 Much thanks for that info, mike. Sad, but true..these products aren't being avialable on amazon germany. I can do soldering really good since my teenage days ( i was 12, for real, also SMD) but i don't have the space, the tools and time, patience for such task like that...unfortunately, my fine Contax 35/2.8 MM does have faulty aperture blades - you can't see them, it doesn't open or close..lens looks new, i suspect oily aperture blades, but i don't know. If you push the lever on the back, just nothing happens..no aperture blades. That's an F2.8 Lens only atm...sad, but true...
Hi. Have you ever cleaned fungus from a Canon FD 300mm f:4 SSC?
I have one and cannot find any info on how to disassemble.
Thanks!
Sorry, not at the moment.
Hello . Can you contact us by email?
I would have a few questions about the lens
Why not just soak the entire barrel with aperture mechanism in IPA, rather than taking it apart?
Well, it's simply because you can not be sure that you actually get all the oil out of the aperture assembly. So the only correct way in my opinion is to disassemble it.
@@mikeno62 thanks! i was hoping i could swirl it around in an alcohol bath - watching you put those blades back together looks tough!
