Michigan State Parks 100: Grand Haven State Park

- Grand Haven State Park is quintessential "West Michigan!" A giant sandy beach sits between Lake Michigan and the campground, which has sites right up to the edge of the sand. An awesome pair of lighthouses, a pier, a boardwalk, and an adjacent tourist town round out this great summer vacation spot.

I live on the other side of Grand Rapids, not far from Grand Haven. This is insanely popular. You are exactly right, most of us go there for a quick 3-4 day weekend, once in a while a week stay. Really fun beach-oriented camping stay!
It is a crazy place but people love it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
And if you want to go to a city beach but camp somewhere more woodsy and private, PJ Hoffmaster State Park is about 10 minutes up the road. Camped there back in 2008. Highly recommend
Yep, great choice. Jessi's parents always took the family there for weekends when she was a kid. In our video about it, she talks about how the beach is not small now but certainly not as large as it was years ago. Here's that video: ua-cam.com/video/M1_Sjn349_M/v-deo.html. Thanks for watching and sharing the tip! -Ari
I grew up in Grand Rapids and spent many summer days "on the beach" in Grand Haven. But as I got older, my family and friends would go a little farther and head to Muskegon State Park or Hoffmaster. Or just look for a county/city park up and down the Lake Michigan shoreline. Lots of beaches to choose from.
Yeah, Grand Haven State Park isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it is very popular. Thanks for watching!
Probably not for me in the summertime, but fall or winter might be pretty cool, but I won't be camping in the winter. Thanks for another great video.
You might consider camping there during the "shoulder season," so late spring or early fall. Not as great beach weather but plenty to see and do on the pier and in town -- and a lot fewer people.
Lived in Wyoming (MI) for a year, visited this place all the time. Love the channel/content! New subscriber from southern California.
While it can be crazy, this park is very popular for good reason. 😎 Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing!
Very informative thank you for all your hardwork
That's great to hear. Thanks for watching and sharing your comment!
Awesome as usual!
Wow! What an amazing place. A camp ground on the beach! Thanks for sharing!
It is a fun park, but busy. Snagging one of those campsites right on the beach requires a lot of planning to get in the system fast enough. Sites can be booked six months in advance. But for anyone who like beaches, lighthouses and coastal tourist towns -- this is the place to be. Thanks for watching and commenting!
You prolly dont give a shit but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot the account password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Landen Emmitt Instablaster =)
@Brock Beckham Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Brock Beckham it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my account :D
This park reminds me of every park/beach out here in SoCal. I'm a new subscriber and really like your content!! Thanks for sharing
It sounds like Jessi would be REALLY happy at the parks in Southern California then! Thanks for subscribing, watching and commenting. We're glad you enjoy the videos. Let us know if you ever make it over to our neck of the woods! -Ari
We do surf here. It is known as the rockpile
Grew up on this beach. It was fun as a kid. As an adult, way too crowded. The end of the pier is a fog house, not a lighthouse.
It is a very busy place on a warm sunny day! You're right, I believe the end has a foghouse and the inner tower is the lighthouse, so we misspoke referring to them both as lighthouses. Thanks for watching and commenting! -Ari
@@Trekers no problem. I am a member of the lighthouse conservancy in GH. I have been in it several times.
@@minpinbear That would be fun! We love lighthouses and are always excited when they're kept up.
Families be forwarded you will plenty of thongs if that’s not your thing consider Tunnel Park in Holland
So just saw this video and I know many people who went to GL for school. What year did you graduate?
Small world! Jessi graduated in 1999.
@@Trekers do you know chad and or Amy Brunton
Yep, Jessi knows them!
@@Trekers that's cool. Those are my cousins
For the love of God, please change the music.
