CLIP DESCRIPTION:
As geisha Okinu (Yuko Daike) plucks the shamisen (a traditional Japanese stringed instrument) for her brother, Osei (Daigoro Tachibana) -- who is also disguised as a geisha -- she reminisces to a time when Osei was a child performing the same dance. The memory leaves Okinu with a quiet sense of sorrow because she knows that her brother had to learned the dance in order to make money as a child prostitute.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Beat Takeshi Kitano directs and plays the title role in this tribute to the wildly popular "blind swordsman" of Japanese cinema who was the hero of more than 20 movies and a television series from the early '60s to the late '80s. In Kitano's version, Zatôichi wanders into a town harassed by criminal gangs, and helps two geishas take revenge on the men who murdered their parents. His mission leads him to a final, bloody confrontation with the gang's mastermind and his hired assassin (Tadanobu Asano), a swordsman with a reputation as lethal as Zatôichi.

This scene and the other one broke my heart but when the final part comes, the festival when everyone is dancing and we see their younger selves when they were kids I started crying
I like how the orchestration interceded her playing lending a heightened sense of past innocence lost.
I am impressed with Daigoro Tachibana's role in this movie, but it's Taichi (his 'younger self") that leaves me in awe. I can't imagine how young he was in this movie, but he already possess great skills/talents. It is not hard to imagine why Taichi is called the genius that comes around in 100 years. God bless them.
I realize it's kind of off topic but do anybody know a good website to watch newly released series online?
@Enrique Charles thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D Appreciate it!
@Kaden Kylo glad I could help :)
This film was awell deserved retelling of the Zatoichi Stories. I was overwhelmed and still am today.
I love this music from the movie, just wish they had added it to the soundtrack.
Saotome Taichi (早乙女太) as the young O Sei is amazing. Such nuanced and grace-filled movements.
누나로서 남동생을 지켜주지 못했다는 죄책감과 애환이 가득한 누나의 표정
0:03 That farmer Aunt was from "Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman's Piligimage(1966)". She was a lot younger back then, really pretty and her role was a young farmer girl. She's really aged in this movie, although I kind of wondered if she is still the same character or different.
Although this movie had sub par, CGI, it was beautiful and a piece of art, it had very powerful moments
It could had have also a Hisaishi score. Still one of my favorites
I thought the CGI was beautiful in a stylized way. Looking at John Carpenter's Thing the effects are not realistic, but they are done in a artistic way which is why they are enjoyable.
The CGI was one and only let down for me. They should have stuck with practical effects. Otherwise this was a brilliant movie.
Seriously, I would buy the hell out of a remaster where they touch up the CGI.
When I watched this movie, this and other scene was highly unsettling, life is so very Brutally cruel, so many children abused, now, more than ever, stunningly evil people monopolizing on the molestation of these children.
Al escuchar el sonido del Chamicen uno automáticamente viaja al Japón tradicional, es un sonido muy característico, único y sus melodías muy hipnótica

..what an expression
I'm guessing he is a kabuki performer
he actually is in real life.
ahed jehad ummmmmm he ?
@@CoreReactionz yes, the one in brown is a guy.
Yes, he is Daigoro TACHIBANA (橘大五郎). A Kabuki performer, specialist of female role.
The child acter is Taichi SAOTOME (早乙女太一).
No they are on a plate for the elite who want young boys with young men. Nambla style!
RZA NEEDS TO SAMPLE THE RIFF 🔥🔥🔥👐
one of my fav movies so underrated
Damn, simple yet so deep
Props to any culture that allows male or female or anywhere between or beyond to excel in whatever they want to. This actor makes me sigh from the beauty and feeling they evoke.
Almost every culture in the world except the ones dominated by the two Abhrahamic religions.
@@beowulf555right, because Shakespearean female roles were never played by males on the stage…🙄. Stop shoe-horning 21st century codswallop into everything that’s come before it.
Wow, that really looked sorrowful.
Nakakamangha

Napakaganda
Napakataas na Tagumpay
Beautiful dance and dancer too
Uhh... Just so y'know... The dancer is a male. Daigoro Tachibana is great either way, just thought you should know.
The sorrow of the shamisen geisha
That is a BOY, DAMON!!!!!!! YOU ARE NOT IN JAIL NO MORE!!!!!!
Lmao
"It's a trap!!"
I know, she looks like a transgender.
She isn't a trap jerk
@@ghostsoldier4566, man, watch the movie; this is a male hiding his identity by disguising himself as a Geisha. In fact that fact is part of the plot of the movie. In real life the geisha is portrayed by a japanese male actor, skilled in japanese performing arts.
ghostsoldier 456 I think with such a sensitivity for male physical features you're in for a bit of a bedroom surprise one day
It's a man, they cound not find better female dancers I guess
Great simple movie
The most sad scene from the movie. You can feel her pain. I would love to know what's the name of the song
Love Takeshi !!
I feel like dancing too 😊
fun fact: young actor voiced lio fotia in promare
Beautiful...
Now that is my jam!
I love this! Does anybody know the exact name of the song? I have a Shamisen and would like to learn it but can search for the tabs without the name of the song
Wano Kuni looks cool
i like what she played nice tone!!!
That's a twist!
太一キレイ…
1:53 that is a guy, isnt it, his voice gave him away,...
It is. Why?
@@shandelrey08because that s%"! ain't right
Imagine dropping acid and watching this in real :)))
Excellent. ♡ T.E.N.
Takeshi 👍👍👍👍
Music giving majora's mask vibes
The guy who composed the soundtrack of the movie also made the OSTs of the Mother games/Earthbound.
Me after watching this clip: ok, it's time to get off UA-cam and so something with my life
Damn it that girl was a guy damn it i almost fall in love!!!
Wanna see it full please
I need this sample
agreed! let me know if you find it in HQ? ill do the same :P
i heard a dubstep song with this sample... it is one of my favourites
any outcome?
Wonder dance of japan
Сестру жалко
На танцполе нет свободных мест!
its not onagata is it?
It's a man baby!
Lol
Grow up.
For anyone who's wondering: Women in Japan often were not allowed to be in performance roles like this, so in plays/productions, it was not uncommon that men would play all roles.
Does anyone know this shamisen song? I would love to get a sheet for it.
It's called Dojoji.
Manji Tahzan thanksss a lot
he's cute
quite the jaw you have there, ma'am
good art
Damn so this is oda get his inspiration for those red scabbard membera
Zatoichi definantly gives me strong Fujitora vibes
Like this music
what is the name of that song? or is it unique for the film?
The shamisen song is not part of the soundtrack, but the music that actually appears at 1:07 is called “The Wasteland Massacre And The Reminisccence Of Geisha”, this part appears at 5:10.
@@netako, thanks for the reply. Now i can try to find the other song related to it. Also, 5:10 of what video?
@@netako oh... the part i want to know the name is the one of the first minute...
@@HebertCaballero I forgot to mention that “The Wasteland Massacre And The Reminisccence Of Geisha” actually has multiple sections since it's the longuest song of the whole OST, it actually appears @ 5:10.
Now what's left is to find the shamisen melody's source.
Now play dueling banjos.
Anyone who knows which style/school of Japanese dance this is?
Looks a bit like Bandō style to me but I honestly have no idea😅
: Yuko - baka. Не надо было меня оставлять Васе и Анне и быть хуже Заремы Агайтае.
Creepy mimes dabbing for 2 1/2 mins
Her arms look so small
Японская балалайка прикольная. Ненастроена
The lady playing the banjo would give you a sore head.
Not a Banjo, it's a Shamisen.
He's far from the original Ichi...slice first and talk later?? I've never this Zatoichi only the orginal "Shintaro Katsu" Zatoichi...a better person in character and in heart than this character.
That he grows up to play Renji Abarai in the Netflix Bleach movie.

What is the song’s name?
Green Maskass user pointed me to "The Wasteland Massacre And The Reminiscence Of Geisha". This is the song in the background. The shamisen melody i'm still trying to find its name. All i know is it also appears in a mix called Dojo, by Macload, and that it also appeared in an oriental dubstep mix (that i sadly forgot its name and cannot find anymore). There's another song with it on the mix, but, it is called Zatoichi, so clearly their source is the movie itself, so not leading to the original source. As a final note, Shazam epicly fails to determine the song source.
@@HebertCaballero So did you ever find out?
@@handsome7158 sadly not yet... i know there's a dubstep, that was part of a mix called Oriental Dubstep... now i can't find it anymore... it's my only lead left

I think you mean Seppuku or Harakiri. lol
Both, young and adult performers are boys. Now, go commit sudoku. the shamisen performer is a girl, tho.

This is a nice japanese transexual not volgare than others
This is too weird watch
Ur so weird dat coudnt undersdant tiny pieces of art
@Hm Hm Well said. Having at least a passing understanding of Asian culture (or any culture) really drives home the meaning, impact, and genius of a movie such as this one.
✩'
Except this scene, the film was boring. I felt the feeling.
Ever seen a transgender geisha, cartman?
Music is not the strong suit of Asians...
You don't know what music is.
Understanding Asian music is strong among Asians.
Clearly someone who doesn't know what music is. You, yes it's you.
