True, got my DD AA record with Kidd, shooting down 85 planes in one game. 2 CV's and I was thankful one of the enemy CV players didn't learn very fast that my Kidd was a plane shredding no fly zone 😅
The two hybrid BBs hiding behind islands at the C cap sums up everything you can do wrong with a hybrid smh. Their team is loosing and they are sitting tight in complete safety send planes whilst they leave their team unsupported. What a clown div 😄
I agree, only use AP if you're getting non pens, or close broadside to light cruisers, and aircraft HP should totally count towards your damage output.
I love the legendary mod for Halland. You Get: An additional consumable so if you are using Superintendent, you can turn it off and use the 3 commander points elsewhere. The Speed boost is incredible, not only can you now do 42.3 knots (as I recall) but the acceleration is UK like in a Halland. Drop the flag and you go "zoom"! The main gig is the super heal, not only does it heal more but you don't get any un-healable damage, (Halland reprints itself now). This allows you to actually gun fight. OK I don't think they call it a super heal but "it's a super heal in my book" Wow! What do you give up? well slot 6 which is generally used for the torp reload. I always used it for main guns reload so I could have a chance in a gun fight. So "for me" I lost slot 6 guns reload and gained torp reload because that's where I used my freed up 3 points commander skill. This all depends on how you've set Halland up BUT you lose slot 6 to install the legendary mod. 42.3 knots with the same 2-minute duration throttle boost (including great acceleration). Don't quote the knots but I believe that's exactly correct. (A note/mention here is that, Halland can now "escape" troubled waters and at those speeds, it does the shimmy-shimmy shake quite well too) An insane heal capability An extra consumable For the cost of whatever you use in slot 6 Up to you but, I love it, love it, love it. Nak is OP for sure. I've ground all ships to learn how to play, but except for Naval battles never play subs or CVs. Because of that, I'm not a good CV player, except in Nak, Malta, Kaga and Midway. Nak is my high at 205k, which is crazy for a bad CV player.
Honestly there are many downsides to the Halland, but I think they are all worth it just to screw over CV players. People say gunboats are more op in this meta and I would have to agree except when there is CV focusing you. When the CV is focusing you and you can’t do anything about it then it doesn't matter if you have good guns or not because you can’t use them if you’re dead.
Daring and smoke build YY are unironically 1000 times better against CVs than Halland/Ragnar and its very simple as to why: spotting (doubly so when youre dented enough to leave your AA on). 9 times out of 10 being spotted is what gets DDs killed by planes, not the strikes themselves so instead of getting hovered for eternity Daring and YY can just vibe in a smoke screen until the planes fuck off. Granted any ship with smoke can do this, but what makes Daring and YY good in particular is their extremely short downtime on the smoke compared to a Shima or Gearing for example. Also Halland is trash
I disagree because of several reasons. 1- A good CV player can still hit you in smoke. 2- Not every situation allows you to sit in smoke (When they catch you in the vicinity of a radar/sonar ship etc). 3- They can just wait for you to come out. 4- If you are just sitting in smoke waiting for the CV to go away then you aren’t really affecting the battle in any meaningful way.

If youre in hydro range of someone then you have other problems than the CV and radar is something you should be used to playing around anyway 3.) They'll be wasting their time and very very few will do that unless youre the last ship alive on your team 4.) You wont be because most will fuck off within 10 seconds and if they are then they arent doing anything impactful either

Sherman and Marceau have decent AA, although nothing compared to Halland.
