You took me back, brother. For a minute there, I was a small boy in my Maw-maw's kitchen, bright Kentucky morning sunshine streaming in through her curtained window, listening to Merle wailing this out of her old AM radio on the counter, with her lightly humming along as she flips a fresh batch of her delicious fried apple pies in a black cast iron skillet. Your voice, your playing, even that hat -- you _are_ a time machine, aren't you? Well, thanks for the ride, Trey! It sure was a nice little trip....
Wow! Your vocal tone, guitar work and sound is impressive. Not easy for a 1 man band to pull off such a full sound, but you sure did. You did the ol' classic justice. Really well done. Congrates!
Did a awesome job. My dad once sang this song with Chris Ledoux in Cheyenne, Wyoming and let me tell. you just you alone performing the song was awesome perfect. Keep doing what you’re doing all the best Godspeed.
Holy smokes the goosebumps! Mama Tried might be my favorite, but this is the most beautiful song. Man Trey, you did this justice man. Thank you, couldn't wake up to a better video today.
I can't believe I'm living with Trey Hensley at the same time. I feel very lucky to be able to listen, learn and be inspired by Trey's music. I'm your devoted fan.
Such a great performance of such an ICONIC song. One of the first songs I ever learned to play and sing. And you did it on THE PERFECT guitar for it. I brag about you to every picker I know. Simply wonderful!!!!!!
Jesus man, you’re REALLY talented brother. So thankful to have stumbled upon your channel. Just sending some love from the great white north. Take care brother ❤ #CanadianTrucker #subbed
Top shelf performance as always. And your guitar tone is always drool worthy, regardless of what guitar you are playing. That’s the true sign of a world class player.
Hey, been listening to your covers, I enjoy the pure sound voicing variation of the different guitars. Just curious if you have an original Tama ('76-'77) in your collection, and if so, any recording plans with it? I can only guess that martin sued them out of business because they were a threat to the market. Keep bringing pure sound, great playing and vocals, its rare these days!
You've done "Red Wings" "Silver Wings"......as spectacular as you are....is it possible that you could do a Bluegrass Version of LITTLE WING? Ala Stevie Ray Vaughan....I seriously think if anybody could the. Trey could!!!!
This is evidence that to be considered a country song it must be able to be performed by one person and one guitar at the kitchen table or front porch.

Perfect. I don't expect to ever hear Silver Wings done any better than this. I especially liked the tasteful lead and fills you did during the rhythm.
Love Merle. Trey does a great job of covering Merle songs. His voice is made for these songs.

Literally played like the original record, nailed it 👍
Great performance. I’ve had your covers on repeat for weeks.
That is the first time I did hear the song titled "Silver Wings". . Thanks for keeping it alive .
Holy smokes the goosebumps! Mama Tried might be my favorite, but this is the most beautiful song. Man Trey, you did this justice man. Thank you, couldn't wake up to a better video today.
Straightforward… Thank you very much...
Merle would be proud!
iPhone recorded, unplugged, no fancy mics and mixers. Pure talent. Absolutely generational talent. Trey is up there with Chris Stapleton.
Is that why you don’t like Merle’s version? Lots of compression and a bit of reverb on that studio cut…😉
Zach you are saving country music. Thank you so much!
I loved it, great job Trey!
Always an awesome job!
