Hi guys, for those of you who can read French, they're also available for PWYW in my native language, the game is called simply Dragons. They changed the name to Fateforge in English for obvious copyright reasons... The French hardcovers are available from French online sellers like Black Book Editions or Phillibert, not sure about the English version. Not too keen on 5E (I'm a longtime RuneQuest fanboy) but the setting and art are so evocative, these books are délicat. Happy gaming !
Fun fact: The Fateforge materials became free/ pay what you want in response to the whole the OGL 1.1 debacle, when the Kickstarter (and similar) communities were unsure about how that would play out. They continue to release high quality materials and installments to this series, and their others, through Kickstarter and I highly recommend anyone who is interested in these books to support them in their Kickstarter launches because the quality, and communication, is top-tier and won't leave you disappointed.
I backed this on crowdfunding, and I can attend that they are absolutely gorgeous, and one of the best versions of 5E out there, they are so much better than what WotC has put out. They definately need more market exposure, they are simply amazing to have the hardcover versions in one's collection. If I ever ditch my D&D 5E books, I'm definately keeping all my Fateforge and Lord of the Rings 5E books in my bookcase, they are both gorgeous and so rich in setting. Great vid, thanks for letting people know Fateforge exists!
I LOVE their Scholar class! I am shocked you say this is more power creep than 5e. If anything, you can use the awakening to address the martial/caster gap. Plus, the canker corruption for magic help with that as well. For the Fighter: Thug subclass--- you are correct- there are no superiority dice. The tradeoff being that the Cheap Shots require specific circumstances, so they can be hard to squeeze in... And if you're up against opponents that are immune to certain conditions, you might find yourself up a creek.
Oh, I didn't mean the scholar class is more power creep. And certainly this book has nothing on all the supplemental 5e books like Tasha's in terms of power creep. :D But I think it's definitely a stronger core book than the 5e PHB.
I bought the Tetrology at Gencon and have not been disappointed. It's such a good book series. The power level for the characters makes sense if you understand the characters are supposed to be chosen by Fate. I classify it the same way I do Earthdawn characters. The world, though, is really what sells the game. Just page through the setting guide and read the monster entries in the bestiary, and it sparks ideas for games. They tie everything back into their lore. I have several of the printed modules, and they are pretty darn amazing as well. If I run 5e anymore, it will be with Fateforge.
Holy shit. A campaign setting with, oh, a completely custom version of 5e to serve the setting better. Wow. This is something I might actually read.

Great find! Not a big 5e fan but this setting seems incredibly gorgeous.

That's great to hear!
Great review! Thank you for sharing this. Will have to check it out.
Went to GENCON and bought the physical copies and OH my god are they worth it. Every book is beautiful with good paper quality nice bindings.
I may need to pick them up...
I did the Kickstarter for the Encyclopedia. Using the setting in my current campaign. Highly recommend!!!!
All this work and it's pay what you want. insane
Lol, that subtle DOS2 music in the background. I hear what you're laying down.
Such a good soundtrack!!
Did not even know this setting existed. The art is gorgeous. Gonna check it out.
Neither did I! It's so beautiful. I am a huge fan.

The same experience! Finding things in the Encyclopedia is a little more difficult than the name implies…but a WONDERFUL resource!
Thanks for showing this off. I had seen it but passed on it, now I'm going to grab it.
Given that it's PWYW, it's totally worth it, for inspiration alone if not for the system.
Love inspiring material to flavor one’s own world. Thanks for sharing.

Great review. Picked up the series. Well done. ❤. And yes, I paid full price for them. 😊
Awesome!! Glad you grabbed them!
I actually backed 2 of these guy's kickstarters for there encyclopedia books
Yeah, this has been available for awhile. It's a lot of fantastic lore for both inspiration and as-is.
Just grabbed them and also the other freebies. I think this is going to be very helpful in my next campaign. Thanks!
Thanks to this review, I tracked down hardcover copies of the first 5 major books in this line. I'd rather run this than regular 5e now.
Glad to hear it!
I'm interested and will check it out.
Just grabbed them! Thanks for posting this. I have to track down the physical copies somehow but have a feeling that will be a bit hard to find :/
Actually I did find a link to a hardcover copy - it's in one of the other comments!
Daaaanng, thanks for the heads-up on this!! Looks amazing. 😊🤘🏻
For sure!!
Thanks for sharing this. Will check it out!
Nice find.
Nice page through btw. Thanks
Thanks!!!
I think SyrinScape did some sound for the setting too.
Oh man! That's incredible - definitely checking that out!!
Wow,!
Lol meant to say the books are a delight😂
More power creep than 5e? That must be a power sprint then.
Well, more power than the core books.
Is it available as print on demand or in hardcover anywhere?
There seems to be some print version available here: studio2publishing.com/products/fateforge-corebook-standard-5e
Best approach is to wait for their next Kickstarter to grab the books you want.
This the same universe Nelseen has been making songs for?
I don't think I know...
I feel like promoting it this hard and not paying for it is kinda bad
Not sure I see that...but I definitely agree these guys deserve to get paid for this work! It's incredible!
Well they do have options if you want to pay something the 4 core books are like a buck or 2 each .. so I got all 4 for like 6 bucks.
