i think i figured to myself why I love watching Garden Answer so much. It's your style of talking to us like as your friends and companions to your garden journey. When you guys don't post a video i feel personally that i didn't hear from my close friends. I also love that I can count on GA to be calming spot to enjoy beauty and plants. Thank you !

I feel the same way! My daughter just came down and said she hears that voice everyday. I wish I could hang out with Laura and Susan. Someone to talk about plants and give me pointers on my wooded garden. They are like friends who don't know they're friends. 😊

I don't understand how Laura has to explain that because her parents helped her, she felt she had to pay them back by doing something for them.......a true giver just does it, without talking about it.
I think they have a superficial relationship as Laura seems to act really impatient and fake in her tone of voice. "Uh huh...yep....oh wow...yeah"
I get the feeling Laura would rather be someone else.

My husband and I have coffee and tea every morning watching you and we love it when your at your mom and dad's house!!!!! Would of loved to have seen your dad's reaction when he pulled the boxwoods out and those voles on his arms.....REMEDY FOR THE VOLES--mix three parts castor oil and one part dish soap. Add four tablespoons of the mixture to a gallon of water. Soak the tunnels and entrances to evict the moles and soak the holes to evict gophers.

Love it!! My mom used to do things (like laundry, etc, when they visited) - I used to feel guilty until she told me how much she enjoyed “giving” to us in those small ways! Also don’t worry about dirty hands!! I grin when your face gets dirty!! So real!

Laura, you always receive tons of comments about your amazing garden designs, which you absolutely deserve, but I think it’s been a while since anybody commented about your filming skills. As I was watching this video, I was thinking of all the different camera angles that you achieved as you were planting those pots. I know that the editor plays a huge role in that as well, but your camera placement is always spot on and I love how you think of the different angles to show how you are doing a project whether it is pots like this or making a wreath or arrangement. Beautiful work.
Putting up an owl box is an easy way to keep voles away. It's so fun to see your mom's place. You both have such beautiful gardens.
We can't put up Bird Boxes because when the Fledglings are hopping on the ground and learning to fly, our dogs and outdoor cat got some of them 😭

@@mera2876mine does. lol.. she kept bringing them to me right on the deck and I kindly asked her if she would continue the hunt but bring me my treasure to a different area & I swear- she’s never left on the deck since… in the grass near and around it but not directly on it. Our animals are something else & I believe they know what we are saying, I swear! lol
To keep voles from eating your plants, make a chicken wire planter by wrapping the chicken wire around the empty pot planter.
Make sure the wire planter is slightly longer at the bottom, so that roots have room to grow.
Dig a hole for the planter, put the plant inside and cover with soil.
This will have voles turn up their sensitive noses, due to the nasty sharp chicken wire.

Harrison throughly enjoyed watching the Dream Stream Team create the waterfall/stream! He asked if we could have popcorn since we were watching it on the tv! He’s since drawn up Pond Idea Plans for our house!😂 He loved coming out to me you & Aaron (frog discussion) in Chicago, all the ponds tours and hunting for the frogs (he found the most out in Peggy’s streams) I love watching him get excited about nature! He loves it! Thank you for all the inspiration you have provided me with! (My gardens are getting there! 😅🩷)
What fun! It’s so satisfying to finally find out what is causing a problem and getting it corrected.
Also when your plants let you know how happy the are with what you’re doing when they grow and bloom robustly.

I hear you! I just moved from The Woodlands to Alaska two years ago. I remember those temps. I do miss the longer growing season but there are trade offs. Hoping God will bring you an early fall/ winter!

Good morning! Everything looks so pretty at your Mom’s. I can’t imagine pulling an evergreen and finding voles underground. Makes my skin crawl. I had voles under my concrete patio and they did damage to a long strip of grass. I’m hoping they are long gone!!

What happens with Grandpa, stays with Grandpa! My dad and my boys were inseparable. It is such a blessing to have family so close and be able to work together so well. Such a transformation at you Mom and Dad's. The gardens are just beautiful. I really like the colors in the pansies. It really reflects the season. Voles in the pots! I bet that was a surprise. I love my garden critters, most of the time....... lol

I had a terrible vole last summer. They ate all my root veggies and the roots of our young apple trees. This year I used “Vole Scram” granules. Natural ingredients so it can be dispersed in growing beds as well as the perimeter and and beyond . Good news is that it worked! No evidence of voles anywhere this past season. I applied every 4-6 weeks and either watered it in or applied just before a rain. It penetrates and goes in all the tunnels and the voles are repelled by the smell. I got it on Amazon. Just sharing because I know how frustrating a vile infestation can be and hopefully it will help others.

I never knew that voles would set up shop in a container! How do you prevent that from happening again? I have a mole that normally sticks to the turf areas of my garden but has recently started running through my beds. He has got to go! Have a great weekend everybody!!

I had the opposite happen with superbena. I planted it everywhere this year we had a bunny show up. He LOVED the superbena! He mowed it all down it came back till he did it again! I was initially mad. Now I look for him and enjoy watching him eat my dead headed roses that I provide for him.

I had to google what a vole was, looks like a small rat or mouse burrowing under the earth ? Eating the roots of plants etc. Never heard of them. Yuk 🇦🇺
