    When we built I convinced my husband to get whole house natural gas fed generator. He did just for me. Never really complaining at all. Then the last 11 years it has been wonderful several times a year for a few hours here and there. Then along came Helene. 200 hours or more. Best investment for our home is now what he says. You will never regret it. My 2 neighbors are now shopping for it now too. Personally I hope we never need for it to run that long again. But to have that security is very nice.

      We thought about it when we built our house, but obviously didn’t proceed with it. I’m so glad we decided to go ahead with it now.

      How much propane did it use for those 200 hrs? We just bought a house with one & i was wondering what we need to keep our propane level above. Ours runs a self test once a week. We will need to service the oil i guess, do you know anything about that?

    • @dmbalsam
      @dmbalsam 2 години тому

      @@prayonkreutz2398our is serviced once or twice a year. I think, really don’t remember, 300 gal. We have 3 tanks, but not sure what size they are.

      @dmbalsam 2 години тому

      Ours is 15 minutes max. Refrigerators, freezers, well, some lights and switches. Internet plug is not on it, but we can run an extension cord. Next time we are serviced we will ask if it can be put on the generator.

    We put in a whole house generator in 2013. We live on the southeastern NC coast. It’s been a great investment given the hurricanes we’ve had.
    We had to move a Nelly Stevens holly when the generator was installed. The holly looks great now!

    Having a generator is a game changer for sure. Living in Louisiana we have experienced many hurricanes/tropical storms over the yrs and loss of power for days on end. Prepping for a hurricane is already stressful enough not to mention the damage after. Our generac 24kw/ 200 hrs. has brought us peace of mind. Its gas and it runs once a week for five minutes (recomended) We were tired of losing power in 95° weather for days/weeks at a time. You will love having one, great investment👍🏻

    I got a whole house generator a couple years ago. The installation was completed in December the day before we got that arctic blast here in NC and my power went out the next day. I was thankful to the good Lord I had it. It really does give you peace of mind. Every time you talk about your tea olive tree I try to figure out how I can incorporate one in my tiny yard. 😊

    I know it is really hard to lose that tea olive and move all your plants right now! However, the up side for your family and production is more than worth it in the end, especially after this last year! Better safe than sorry. ❤️

    So excited you are getting the whole house generator! It is truly life changing and saving. Ours is 22 kw on the transfer switch. Complete overkill, but we had recently survived the Polar Vortex of 2013. I can run my entire house normally for about 2.7 gallons of propane per hour for 2400 sq ft. In Michigan, we require a battery warmer in extreme cold. Satellite internet access is awesome also, it will not miss a beat-as long as you have this beautiful generator. I would buy a Creekside Garden skin for the Generac-if you made them😉
    We will pray for the tea olive❤ Blessings abound💕

    I live in central Illinois and we can experience frequent power outages from strong winds, tornadoes, and occasionally a heavy snow. We have a whole house generator and love it! We never hear ours kick on. If I’m outside gardening I may hear it do the weekly test run. You’ll love it!

    We installed a generac several years ago after constant power outages. Then the power company came out and really started trimming back trees along the lines and the power has only gone out once since then. But it's the piece of mind that is priceless.

    We had a whole house generator installed 2 years ago and it is the best thing we have done for our home! You will not regret it. We wait about 15 seconds when the power goes out and the whole house is up and running again. When the power is finally restored it shuts itself off. Now it does run a test once a month by itself. You are going to love it! It is a great peace of mind during a bad storm.

    We had our generac generator after the zero degree freeze we went through in Texas a few years ago. Thankfully we never list our power but everyone around did it was a miserable week for everyone. We had ours installed that spring and it has been used several times when we lost power in the middle of summer. It’s so comforting to know you don’t have to worry about power when you have one. It turns itself on and off as needed.

    Black walnut trees give off something from root which inhibits nearby plant growth. We have black walnut trees all around our area We watch the squirrels gathering the nut in the fall. Beautiful walnut lumber!

    Good morning from Seneca, SC. We had a Generac installed two years ago. Hurricane Helene was our first test run using it for 6 days. It came on and ran like a champ, be careful what you plant around it. I have crispy Autumn ferns after the generator blowing hot air on them for 6 days. No big deal, just a word of caution.

    Congrats on the Generator, we have that same brand and love it. We rarely lost power in Cali. When we moved to the east coast we made sure we bought a house with one. We would always hear about storms taking out power on the east coast. Literally the 2nd day being in our new home a storm came knocked it out the power for 3 days. Generator kick on in less than a min and had power.
