    Thank you for the good description of the capabilities of these monitors 🤩
    Now I'm 100 percent sure that these will be the ones.
    And happy for you that you found them. Happy mixing.

    I definitely agree overall. I had the same realization when I learned about accuracy vs exaggeration. These and KH310 give accuracy. Genelec and Barefoot, for example are production mix monitors.

    Have you ever listened to the Neumann KH 310's? If yes, should I consider buying them over these Dynaudio? Or are the LYDs enough to handle for a starting professional?

    hey guys... anyone find the hiss overbearing? apparently this is normal but its getting in the way of fades, reverb tails, quiet parts etc. input sensitivity doesn't change it. same with cables unplugged. im guessing its due to the output amp being so loud. wish theyd added an output volume. anyone know if there's an internal trim pot on the circuit board?

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords  Рік тому +1

      I don't have any hiss at all. I'm in a shed with NOT clean power, but I'm also plugged into Furman PL8c conditioners on each side. I do get some hiss from my master bus chain. Mostly from my WA-Bus Comp.

      @@redshedrecords it definately doesn't seem like an electrical buzz or noise. its present in both the mid and tweeters, equal on both L&R sides. Both have a dedicated socket and not thru a 4-gang splitter. It's really loud when you put your ears near it, not so loud in mix position if the computer is running but it's still noticeable and too intrusive to be doing surgical edits or working on noise reduction or fade outs etc. Thanks man!

      Im thinking about getting these and a hiss is something I don't need. Any other updates would be appreciated. Thanks

      @Gringo On Tha Beat This morning I muted my daw and absolutely cranked my Audient Nero controller wide open and they were absolutely silent. It's really important that your power is conditioned and you have a good controller if you're using one. When I add my DAW with my analog gear in the chain THEN it adds some hiss.. but that's the gear adding the noise. When I mute my DAW, silence. Hope this helps!

    I came from 10 years of genelec 8040 to LYD48. It has been a big positive change ! Highly recommend, even if you are shopping for a bit cheaper. Just save up more, it is worth it. The only thing I really needed to adjust to was the mid range aswell. The 8040's have their crossover at about 3khz, which is in full range of LYD48's mid speaker, so it sounded harsh in the beginning in comparison. LYD48 has better highs, much tighter sub and detailed mids. 8040's sound like sub par now to me.

    Cheers Red Shed Records! I am considering Adam A77h and these and they are nearly the same price. I am curious can you elaborate little bit more on couple of things:
    1) Depth of the sound (3d)
    2) Stereo imaging
    3) Bass tightness
    I know you said something about each but I am curious how these parameters stack against other 3 way monitors.
    Note: I don't have an option to test them myself before buying

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords  11 місяців тому +1

      Awesome!
      I'd say the depth is great, much better than my 2-way JBLs were. Very fun listening to material and hearing things you've never heard and not the way you've ever heard them. I'm sure there are better options depth wise out there, like I hear great things about Focal for specifically detail in the 3d space. These are still really good.
      The stereo image is actually insane. The phantom center is mind blowing. The bass guitar and vocal sound like they are coming out of my wall in front of me. Panning is very easy to place.
      The low end is very accurate, tight, but definitely not exciting unless you really get your low end right. I think that's the biggest thing with these, is they are not exciting until you really get the mix to a great place.
      I haven't heard the 3-way Adams, but going off of what the 2-ways sounded like that I've heard, you may find the LYD48s to be more midrangey/ mid-forward. The Adam's were a little more hi-fi sounding. But most stero systems are like that anyways, and I find myself having to watch myself and try not to over-compensate on the highs and lows since these don't sound like consumer speakers at all.
      Hope this helps!

    Great review my man, we're the UK distributor for Dynaudio PRO as well as Ferrofish, great to see you rocking both in your studio 🤘. Can confirm that the LYD48s are amazing for the price, they're actually not that far off the Core 47s in terms of quality, although much cheaper 🤫. Greetings from the UK, nice studio!

  • @ruthbroadway

    I have the BM12A monitors at home and love them for a small simple setup. In a studio setting I used these and they were amazing. Between using the Barefoot micromain45 and these in both treated studios the Dynaudio wins by a landslide. They feel like they have more headroom than the Barefoots and absolutely kick ass with the low end all without fatiguing your ears. Dynaudios don't feel like they had to drastically fine tune things to hear specifics come through the monitors, they just are already there and sound natural in any room. They really do sound and feel like they're giving you the true story of what you're listening to.

    The JBLs are shit. How do I know? I've been mixing on them for 3 years. They have a 12d dip at 100k. I have the 306's (6" woofer.) Great for listening to music, though. I've been getting paid to mix and finally took the plunge and am awaiting the arrival of the LYD 48s. With the JBLs translation was always a struggle. I also have NS10s but no sub. Anyway, I've had to do car checks, take notes and then go back in my studio and make the changes in order to nail the mixes. And I've been able to get some great mixes! But, the car check became a necessity and I got tired of that. Anyway, great review. Thanks!

      It's a 34" LG wide-screen. And not for me, they go LOW low! They fill my 22 x 24 foot room just fine. If you wanna get louder than like 95 - 100db you may want one, then you can flip the crossover on the LYD48s and get more headroom on them too. They have impressive low end by themselves!

    to me in the showroom, they sounded like scratching on an oil barrel, so harsh was the sound compared to all the other speakers.. But i had to say.. there was only one song to play, and the drums also were mixed very unpleasently hard...but i cant imagine that hard as the Dynaudio presented them. And thus i finally chose the Kali in8 2nd wave, for half the prize... the only speaker i liked more than the Kalis were the Adam Audio A8h but was 1000$ outside of my budget.

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords  Рік тому +2

      Interesting! Yeah to me they are pretty midrange heavy maybe compared to most systems people are used to being scooped in the mids. My first reaction was actually how dark and flat and boring the speakers sounded compared to my JBL 305s. But then I found some actual "good" mixes and realized how honest they are.
