  • This Dynaudio LYD48 review will look at these studio monitors and give you the information you need to make an informed decision about whether they belong in your audio studio.
You likely have heard a lot of buzz about these powered studio monitors and like us are wondering if they can live up to the hype.
Check price of Dynaudio LYD48 on Sweetwater - imp.i114863.ne...
Dedicated audiophiles are already aware of the professional sound that the Dynaudio LYD 48 is known to offer. It is no surprise that there were high expectations for the Dynaudio LYD 48.
The right studio monitors are vital to the home studio and any music studio. They allow you to hear the nuances and to “catch” any necessary edits.
Music recording equipment is not complete without the right audio listening equipment. Lets see if the Dynaudio LYD 48 is that right equipment.
    The Review.
This 3-way LYD monitor is packed with some of the most wanted features. Here are the basics from the manufacturer’s website:
    • Three-way bass reflex speakers
    • Freq range: 32Hz to 21kHz
    • Output power: LF: 80w, MF 50W, HF 50W
    • Max SPL: 112dB
    • Crossover frequencies: 490Hz and 5.6kHz
    • Tweeter: 28mm soft dome
    • Midrange: 4″
    • Woofer: 8″
    • Controls for Sound Balance, Bass Extension, Input Sensitivity and Position
    • Connections: XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced
    • Sensitivity: +6 dB: 50mV 0dB: 100mV -6dB: 200mV
    • Dimensions (mm): 369x234x328
    • Weight (kg): 10.55
It is music technology at its finest, while the technology is important it really is not enough to determine if it sounds the way you want it to sound. You must listen and run through the controls to really get a feel for these.
Once you listen you will get why they are award winning monitors. These are not your average studio monitors. They are the newest in the LYD line and they have been tweaked to perfection.
These monitors are the full package from the 8 in woofer size to the 4-midrange driver the nice lows at 32 hz to the well thought out manual that give you tips and tricks for speaker positioning, this monitor has it all.
The position control helps to bounce off the wall and other anomalies. Sound balance helps to brighten things up in a dead room. Standby mode and more helps you to tweak the sound to perfection for your specific space.
You want to start out by setting everything up at neutral than do a little experimentation to find the perfect setting for the genre and the room.
I set up the speakers in no time flat and started out with a neutral setting, it did not take too long to find the sweet spot.
I found that the mids were bright enough but not as bright as you would expect. The lows rang true as did the highs.
Overall the experience was enjoyable and more importantly it was easy to find that perfect spot that audiophiles, producers and music lovers desire.
The newest feature on these monitors is the midrange driver which really adds balance. I found these to be more well rounded when compared to other monitors in the LYD line.
    Overall Conclusion.
The hype is real. These monitors deliver the quality that you expect from Dynaudio and the LYD line. They plowed through every mix and genre and adjusted nicely.
They delivered the true clear sound that music lovers can really appreciate. They were great when it came to make easy adjustments.
I think that they are worth the investment after listening for a while and doing a side by side comparison with some other monitors.
They do exactly what a 3-way monitor should do, they join everything up nicely and put the power where you want it.
Of course, monitoring is a very personal experience and you really must hear them to appreciate them. Check out the video and learn more about these monitors and why I think they are going to fit into your studio nicely!
Leave comments and questions below and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Enjoy the review and tell me what you think about the LYD 48’s and what your experience has been like.

Lovely review and totally agree; Dynaudio is really up there with the best and has been extremely transparent in sound for ages. Such a down to earth company with a high technically skilled development department. Putting soo much effort into each single component, which indeed pays off. The fact they went for a 3-way monitor that comes with such a strong price tag, is absolutely amazing. Though their 2-way monitors are a proper choice for most, there's just something unique about a 3-way solution that reminds me of the good old JBL 4410/4412. Couldn't recommend them enough. And it's not because I'm from Denmark .. 😉 Btw LYD is SOUND in danish ...

Thanks for the info. Funny fact, the online vendor I am going to purchase them from has the Left and right identified with the woofer on the outside. I saw your setup and went to the Dynaudio site and saw a video for the 18S confirming the woofers on the inside ...Your video saved me from buying them and posting proud photos only to be told I have them backwards :-D (or maybe its written on the box?) Looking forward to getting them into my studio.

you can position them "backwards" if it suits your room and position better. I have them "backwards" myself and they sound better that way. I use them very closely though. I thin it is actually mentioned in manual that you can use them "backwards" sometimes.

Great review! Broke the details down so thoroughly. How would you compare them to the KH310’s? The price jump is significant but would you say it’s worth paying double or do these just perform better?

I also have this Babies in my Studio...,
and i love the Monitors **** They sound so beautiful
and sweet, for every kinf of Music. Have also tested the
smaller but more expensive PSI AUDIO A17-m...,
and have sold them..., they have more Details, no Question
but the overall Experience for Mixing, Mastering, Listening
to Music was a better Experience with the Lyd 48 Speakers.
Much bigger Sound...But iam sure the bigger A21-m shuld
be better because of the bigger Woofer. But the PSI A21-m cost 3x
more than this Pair, and thats the Point (: For the Money
U cant go wrong with the Lyd 48 Monitors, its a Bargain.
    Thanks

    • @consordini6258

Definitely the Dyns. I really don't like ADAM's tweeters. I mixed on A7Xs for years and in retrospect, they were harsh, harsh, harsh. Used to wonder why I would come away from long mixing days with a headache. That was why, lol. Dyns are much sweeter and more accurate to my ear.

Hi! Very nice review, I love Dynaudio. Do you think these speakers are too big for a 3x4 meters room studio?

    • @kondirecs
      @kondirecs 4 роки тому +3

Not at all .. if you make sure they have at least half a meter distance to the back wall, you should be fine. Otherwise you''ll have to compensate a little for the bass. Those features are on the back of the speakers, and you'll have to damp your room well; carpet, plants, curtains, diffusors etc., but the easiest is to spend some time with them, listen to those tracks you know well, and you will get a great feel of how they respond.

Good day. Thanks for the vid. Very informative. Currently on the fence for a set of LYD48's or 2xLYD7 + Sub9s. Any thoughts you could share why one would choose one over the other? Thanks in advance!

    • @consordini6258
      @consordini6258  4 роки тому +2

I would say that it definitely depends on a) your room and b) the style(s) of music you work on. Smaller room? The LYDs are a great choice. Bigger room? The 7s and a sub is a great choice. Also, if you're working on bass-heavy styles of music (EDM, hip hop, rap) the sub will be a great asset. If not, the bass extension on the LYDs is excellent. Now, I have the LYDs but also use a sub with them because I have a well-treated room and work on just about any type of project imaginable, from jingles to video game sfx to mixing country records. So that's the combo that works for me. But either way, Dyn is a great company that makes great speakers - I don't think you can go wrong.

You are comparing completely different speakers, larger 3 way to a mid size 2 way to a small 2 way. Do you intend to add sub later? If not, I would not get KH 120 as much as it gets better review and considered as higher end than the other two, it has no bass extension.

Hearing good things about these. Not convinced to drop $2.3K with their mere 2 years warranty. Their passive speakers come with upto 7 years warranty, but these just 2 years, tells me they are not confident about their longevity, even after once pays a decent dollar for them.

    • @consordini6258
      @consordini6258  4 роки тому +4

For me, warranty wasn't really a factor. I would trust that a brand as storied as Dynaudio would make a speaker capable of working for years without issue. I've had mine going on 4 years, used and ran daily, without a single issue of any kind. They're incredible speakers.

So I have finished my research and am down to Adam S2Vs, Genelec 8340's or Dyn Core 7's (all with their subs) and then I start watching these Kali videos all over UA-cam and start second guessing everything I am / was doing..
