- While thinking about practicing a nice encore piece, I remembered this great virtuosity piece, Hora Staccato by Grigoras Dinicu that I discovered thanks to my trumpet hero Maurice André when I was a kid and later in the « original » arrangement by Jasha Heifetz 😍 a really challenging piece for the staccato of course, mostly double-tonguing here and some single in the high register, for tempo stability, long trills, glissandi at the end, I’m not sure that I’ll dare to play it live so often 😇👍🏻✨
Simply amazing double tongueing and such a crisp staccato! Bravo maestro!
brentylol thank you so much 😊🙏✨
@@nicolasbaldeyrou1 Thos glissandi at the end were amazing too. I'm jealous of how well you tongue, my tongue is like a sloth in comparison 😉
Everything you do is truly amazing technically but so musically played. There are only a few of you on the planet that can do it all.
love the PrAcTiCe tshirt lol
Practice!!! Great!!! Thanks for this piece!
This has a touch of Rimsky Korsakovs saber dance....love it!!

Why can't I like this again? Thanks for your content Nicolas, you are an inspiration, you're a true Ling Ling.
Happy that you like it !
You are amazing! I listen to you playing every day, it encourages me to practice more every day. It seems like I will never be able to play like you since I´ve been playing for two years but believe me, it sure helps to motivate me a lot! Thank you!
Nicolas, you are a true virtuoso. When listen and watching you playing, it looks actually very easy 🙈👍🏼
Very good Nicolas, you really make the clarinet shine.

Increíble!! ❤️
Ça me fait plaisir, merci beaucoup !

😍J'adore 💕 ! Bravo !
auvillars pourvu que ça dure 😁 merci beaucoup !
BRILLIANT!!!
My son is a senior music ed major, clarinet is his main instrument.
He is working on the standard studio literature.
Has functional circular breathing skills. Plays on a Buffet Festival horn with the alternate Eb key.
I don't where he is as far as double tonging.
Chris K sounds promising ! All best for the future of the son ! Thank you for your kind words 😊🙏✨
Thanks for replying!
He has one of the Silverstein ligatures and is using a Van Doren Black Diamond 5 (BD5) mouthpiece.
For studio recitals he has performed among other works; several mvts from the Brahms Sonatas 1&2, Finzi Clarinet Concerto, Poulenc Clarinet Sonata, Debussy's Premiere Rhapsody, McAllister's Freebirds duet. That's all I can recall.
I "shared your" UA-cam video with him.
Genial maestro!
Merci André !
Bravo!!!

Genial
Merci Thierry !
Dear friend, I bow before your skill. Please tell me such a fast and clear staccato, is it a double tongue or a single one?
Thank you! 👍🤝
Playing the piece on the violin is already very frustrating, I have no idea how you do it on the clarinet hahaha

Wow
Bellissimo pezzo e bellissima performance!
*tonguing*
I just noticed the center of your clarinet doesn't have metal rings at the end of the top joint, is it just one joint or no ring?
Tintin e Milou!!
Yesss !
@@nicolasbaldeyrou1 I insisted we get the set for our school library! Such wonderful stories and art!!
Everything so even and clean in this high tempo, especially the trills at 00:15.
Nelson ThePrimate thank you ! Yes this particular passage is not the most impressive but definitely the most difficult of the whole piece !
I also notice that you play the arpeggio E-Bb-G-Bb x 4 at the same passage with your left hand thumb and index finger. That's an incredible speed for an action that involves sliding on keys. During this sequence, it looks like you support your hand with your left little finger on the left pinky. Is that correctly observed and a useful technique that prevents the whole hand from moving and frees up the thumb and index fingering? For us deadly, it is probably easier to play the sequence using the trill key for the Bb. But that involves using two hands which in my experience is more difficult to get even than playing a fast sequence with one hand (if the grips are not very awkward). What are your thoughts on one vs. two hands? Thanks again for showing what is possible. You make us all proud of playing the clarinet.
Nelson ThePrimate my rule is never two hands to synchronize when you can use only one, in that case the trill key is really out of tune on my clarinet 😁 and I’m trying not to slide (and lose time), the index finger is already on hole and the just making a tiny rotation to push the key n10. But it’s really a challenging passage anyway, happy that I made 25 years of vade-mecum 😁
Still, both fingers have to rotate (index and thumb), which is challenging, and they have to rotate enough to open the tone holes for the open G. Having tested it might work, with a lot of training. In my experience, a certain sequence can require a unique hand position that enables the fingers to be fast and this hand position has to be learnt like the rest of the piece. Btw, Benny Goodman had his own way of managing this passage... :-D

Nelson ThePrimate a really personal way indeed, less risky 😁
When 40 hours a day is not enough
Is that a C Clarinet in the middle?
Mark Bernard no it’s a Bflat

Which reeds do you play?

beautiful version indeed!
@@nicolasbaldeyrou1 I'm utterly delighted I could point to you some classical piece you would like to see. Liviu is one of my musical heros (like TSV boys and you, lattely). He's staccato technique is amazing, among many others.
petru romania mercibocu musseur
It is not Dinicu-Heifetz but only Dinicu.
You’re right 😖 my bad!
you lost a transition and there was very little left of what the author wanted to say. Nice try but you are a musician not just a singer. Thanks for all!
