    I was moments from losing the will until you showed me the rubber seal and foam edge could be moved out the way of the lower bolt.. Had all the wrong tools too, got there...Genuine big thanks to you fella.. There was a clip you missed on the vid that pulls the battery clamp up as you position the new battery, or it's stuck on a tilt. But I wouldn't have been close without the vid.. ...Cheers

    Thanks for this. The location of the bolt was a mystery to me.

    Cheers for the heads up on the bolt. Was doing my head in trying to get the battery out without knowing about it being held in place😂

    Many thanks for the video! Had to mention that the late model B6's are identical. I couldn't work out why in all the video's for the B6 the "battery bay" looked different! So this proceedure works for the earlier B6's too. And big thanks to Audi (sic) for making it so painful just to change a battery!

    Just done this job. My advice is if you don’t have a very long (8 inches) Allen key don’t attempt it until you have one. Not sure what mm as the one I used had no markings. It’s a pig of a job, German engineering at its finest. Fair play for doing the video mate, esp one handed!

    Thanks, didn't know what was holding the battery in. BTW, the auto-generated subtitles on your video are a laugh (I'm deaf).

    Exactly as it was. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Problem sorted.

    Thanks for this post I have to say it was that hidden Alen Bolt that threw me, I couldn't see it at first but once the rubber wiring harness moved out of the way
    and with a torch I could see the litte twat! Very awkward to get at, I used a long extention Allen socket & even when bolt fully loosened off I still couldn't
    get the plate or the battery out, that metal strutt and the pipes really get in the way! I figured out that by using the plastic long tab that is attached to the retaining plate & sliding it accross to the right towards the Pollen filter & get it out of the way this allows the battery out easier

    I had to do this job earlier today on my own car. It looks more awkward to do if you dont have the correct tools. I used a long extention bar on a cordless drill with a 6mm allan key bit in it to get in at the fastener clip. I also disconnected the fused terminal off the positive to give me more space to remove the old battery. I put the new one in, clipped the sealed loom back into place and then fitted the terminals back on and put a small amount of copper grease on the terminals to preserve them.

    Surely to god, the manufacturers could've come up with a more convenient system for holding a battery in place? I mean, a fucking Allen key down in the dungeon of the car, and you have to remove all that stuff to get access? Fuck-off. They design a great* car but can't design a simple release system? Shite. Back in the day the battery could be removed and replaced in about 90 secs.
    Great video, friend, thanks for the tutorial

    silly question. but how do you adjust the blocks in the base left to allow a bigger battery to be fitted?...Mine seem fixed...! Good video by the way.

    whilst battery out check drain holes etc are clean and oil the allen bolt...makes it easier next time ... If drain holes get blocked water will ingress car....

    • @frankyw8803
      @frankyw8803 3 роки тому

      Where are the drain holes located ?

    • @fransam1961
      @fransam1961 3 роки тому +1

      Drain holes ( actually rubber bungs with slots that clog up !) are under battery tray and the other is under near brake servo ( uk cars). I found best way is to use a stiff plastic ( so it doesn't damage paintwork) thing like you get on drills to control depth etc and tackle the drain hole from the engine bay below.....you'll know you've found it when water gushes down and out....I do mine monthly....

      how to do stuff on cars I just inspected mine years after my official dealership tech replaced it for me. They forgot to reinsert the vent tube. I saw it sitting in there next to the battery! Pushed it in and all sorted now. :)

    The computer has to be RESET by the dealer when you REMOVE the battery.. just my .2 cents. I work at Advance Auto Parts and I've seen what happens if you uninstall a battery that needs a cpu reset
