Ida Lupino was married for a time to my great uncle, Collier Young. How I wish I had met them both. Two great talents. Thank you for honoring Ida Lupino by sharing this. And a nod to William Talman. He played bad and good with authenticity.
Years ago, I remember an interview with an actress, I can't remember who. Anyway, she said that Ida was much more beautiful in person than she appeared on screen. Not that Ida wasn't beautiful on screen, but much more so in person. She was one of the best!
Much like her earlier character Marie from High Sierra, Ida Lupino's Ellen is not a bad girl, just a young woman who has had some bad breaks and made some poor choices. No one ever played such a character as well as Ida Lupino. This is among her best performances. Thanks for posting this obsure gem!
Agree with all the fans of Ida ! Count me in ! Thanks PIZZA FLIX for topping this story with super actors all. ! Will be waiting for your next great Ida Lupino hot, tasteful delivery.
forgot to say thank you for this film Pizza Fix, I love Ida Lupino. I am working with one arthritic hand at the moment as I broke the other hand last week, so too busy concentrating on the pain that I forgot to express my gratitude.
I read that he was gay and the producers of "Perry Mason" tried to fire him for it. Raymond Burr stood up and said "he's not going anywhere or I'm out". Needless to say, he kept his job.
@@jamesyates1432Good for him! In those days, being gay was a career ender. So many talented people had to live a lie for decades and must have been profoundly unhappy. Glad that this has changed. I always thought that "Hamilton Burger" could have played Joseph Cotton's brother, similar features.
Before he became "the D.A. who always lost to Perry Mason" every week, Talman usually portrayed unsavory and dangerous people in films and TV guest appearances.
She previously directed William Tallman in the 1953 feature film "The Hitch-Hiker", and a 1956 episode of "SCREEN DIRECTORS PLAYHOUSE" {"Number Five Checked Out"}.
oh come on-- he was about to strangle her and she apologizes for knocking him down and asks if he's alright?? Nobody is that stupid when their life is on the line
Eddie seems to have issues with prop department wood. In 22:23 the chair was about 6 inches away and he passed out...upon regaining his footing he ran right through the balsa wood balcony railing to his death 😮
What woman wants to be on her feet all Day Waitressing and get picked up for a Date at 10 at night! Even if he is a Cop...l smell Trouble and a Trap! Don't Gooooo
Oood! I'm glad Eddie Fell and Died! Talk about a Lucky Break...literally! Now she and Ma get the Diner! Ding ding ding...winner winner chicken dinner!!!
Yep, another great slice of classic tv pizza! Thanks!

She was a pioneer. Respect.
Yeah very beautiful and extremely clever
The golden age of television for sure-- loved it.
Another outstanding performance Ida…💐🌹👏📣 Encore!!!
Excellent, Ida Lupino is brilliant
Check out the tune "Ida Lupino'' by Carla Bley. A beautiful musical tribute.
Ida Lupino is good. A producer also. A great, real talent.
A first female DIRECTOR
@@doreekaplan2589since silent film era anyway. But yes Ida Lupino was a pioneer in Hollywood.

Wonderful. Thanks from Ireland 🙏✝️☘️❤️🇮🇪✝️
Ida Lupino. She's one in a million.
Love the Four Star Playhouse series!! Thanks for yet another great upload, PizzaFlix strikes again!
Ida Lupino never got the recognition she deserved.

Hope you feel better. May the Sauce be with you.
Isabel, sorry about the broken hand. And understand about the arthritis 😟😟🙁🙁
Well there are people who can upload movies in a good quality and good sound....and others who certainly should NOT do it! Thanks for this one
Wow, how cool was that.
Ida Lupino is always a favorite
Thank you!!!
Ida is my new favorite actress.
Love her!
Thank you PIZZAFLIX!!❤️
oh i love old movies thanks send is to me.
Pizzazz and pizza and Ida, I pushed the thumb up before starting because I know it's going to be a good one and PF always has my vote!
⭕Great! Ty for sharing.👏
Good one, thanks!
Loved it
Ditto. Ida Lupino is brilliant. Surprise! Doing a "TV show.")? Was this part of some series? No clues. But thanks a lot. Caught it on the first day!!!
Four Star Playhouse was a TV series. She was in several TV shows. Directed several too.
Ida was originally a "partner" in Four Star, and appeared on the "PLAYHOUSE" on a rotating basis with Dick Powell, Charles Boyer and David Niven.
Dude played Hamilton Burger, Perry Mason's rival, the prosecutor.
Ida featured Bill Talman in a movie she co-produced and directed in 1953, "The Hitch-Hiker".
I read that he was gay and the producers of "Perry Mason" tried to fire him for it. Raymond Burr stood up and said "he's not going anywhere or I'm out". Needless to say, he kept his job.

At 14 she was playing adult fem fetals she was super intelligent and came from a show biz family in England.
Really, that young? Wow.
"Lupino" means little wolf in Italian. Her family originally came from Italy and then moved to Britain a long time ago.
I wanted it to continue she's such a great actress oh sorry when it ended
lindos filmes mesmo parabéns a todos os canais de voçes são imortais no brasil
Oh my heavens...not what I was expecting in a movie....geezzzzzz
I knew the music sounded familiar;
It's the Four Star Playhouse and the episode is Eddie's place.
Don’t get in his car ida he’s evil.Dident you see the hitchhiker?
That's hilarious...assuming you know she directed it LMAO!!
@@janegertrude9270, nope, not this one, JG.
LOL
Ida directed the hitchhiker movie - she was multi talented, too bad she succumbed to alcoholism later in life
Before he became "the D.A. who always lost to Perry Mason" every week, Talman usually portrayed unsavory and dangerous people in films and TV guest appearances.
watch out for those balsa wood railings!
hahaha!
Ida Lapino. always great!!! . but.."Eddie Eddie." .geeze girl. lmao
DA Hamilton Burger from "Perry Mason."
I recall that back then there was a joke his name was 'Ham Burger'.
Ida did a lot of television and worked so much, I think maybe she had troubles in her marriages. Financial, I mean. But what a pro the lady was.
He slaps her then she kisses him...NO, girl , no
It just goes to show. 😁
Violence against women was very common then. Not the good old days for women. 😪
Hamilton Berger overlooked one important fact: she had been trained in chair in prison.
Excellent 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"Ma" was mother McGillicutty on I Love Lucy
I've always liked Louis Jena Heydt. His voice is so distinctive.
Hamilton Burger is charming! Seems so sincerely nice to her. Makes him attractive.
I felt so bad for her. She just wanted a job.
Ma, the old lady working at Eddies played Lucy Ricardo's dim witted mother on I Love Lucy😊
She previously directed William Tallman in the 1953 feature film "The Hitch-Hiker", and a 1956 episode of "SCREEN DIRECTORS PLAYHOUSE" {"Number Five Checked Out"}.
in his final days he wished he never took up smoking i hope some ppl heeded his words
Thanks
🍕🍕👍👍🍕🍕👍👍🍕🍕
MA was I LOVE LUCY'S ditzy mom -- she's ultra serious here.
I first saw Kathryn Card in “I Love Lucy” reruns, as a child, but have since seen her in many movies. She was quite a versatile actress.
" Pumping ... always pumping." LOL
Mrs. McGillicuddy!!!
Kirk Barkley I noticed that immediately!
William Talman from "Perry Mason"?
Common problem for all Ida Lupino pics … too short, too short…
I wonder if this is part two of one way out
This one must've slipped thru the proverbial cracks ❤❤❤❤
I recognize Dan the cop from The Big Sleep.
oh come on-- he was about to strangle her and she apologizes for knocking him down and asks if he's alright?? Nobody is that stupid when their life is on the line
Eddie seems to have issues with prop department wood. In 22:23 the chair was about 6 inches away and he passed out...upon regaining his footing he ran right through the balsa wood balcony railing to his death 😮
Thank you Pizza//FliX 2nd-flix
Her friends weren't much
They left out what happens next!
Ellen should lock the door to her room. Eddie walks right on in . . .
Sign on the wall at 16:24, "Hamburger 35 cents".
❤
Hamilton Burger.

I liked the movie, the script, the actors, but that ending was 🤢
Right @3:35 this guy Dan kinda reminds me of Drew Carey...? ;>)
Is this a movie?
A gone Wrong Chair n CHINESE SKULL skillet cafetress AT EDDIE'S
Huh…?
O please
This was a fakie slice of old rubbery pizza.
It's highly predictable, this short movie. No surprises, bad script.
Annoying...
