Ida Lupino is one of my idols, both for her work on screen and behind the camera. For a time she was married to my great uncle, Collier Young. I am sick not to have met them both as a child. But I salute their contribution to Hollywood film history.
Ida was a unique personality! Such a wonderful woman, an inspiration of mine and of many others who are now (re)discovering her amazing talent and giving her the praise she deserves.❤

Wonderful and talented, Ida was way ahead of her time. Love all her movies and have been binge watching the '50s anthology series Four Star Playhouse where Ida was one of the main actors.
She looks disturbed by the surprises, and even emotionally fragile, but as soon as she speaks, with her magnificient voice, she is in command . She looked like a lovely and unique personality
My favorite was "Pillow To Post" She was hysterically funny. No matter how many times I watch this movie I can't help but to laugh! Love her with William Prince too.
This was a treat. Such a elegant and talented lady. My first time ever seeing Ida on anything was the Lucy Desi Comedy Hour entitled Lucy's summer vacation. I became a fan after that .my first movie at first I saw was women's prison from 1959 that was really good.
I love to hear how British and Irish performers during the heyday of Hollywood actually sounded in real life since on screen many of them invariably adopted an American accent. One thinks of stars like Cary Grant, George Brent and many others. Recently I heard a recording of Cary on the phone just a year or so before he died and he sounds quite British ! Ida I am happy to hear was clearly a Brit away from the camera.
She and Duff were fun on the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour after _I Love Lucy_ ended. However, I really loved her on _Four Star Playhouse_ , one of the earliest drama anthology series with rotating stars. I have some of her episodes on videotape, but I wish all of them were available. She was tremendous in a suspense episode called "One Way Out". Wonderful twist at the end. These shows were always awkward, made even more so by Edwards' staring at the teleprompter or cue cards (and past the honoree) on every single episode. Yet, Ms. Lupino is obviously moved by the appearance of some of her guests who she really didn't expect.
Ida Lupino is one of the great actors we've been privileged to watch from a very young age . This is the definition of a strong woman. Not only strong and intelligent but so beautiful with her delicate features she used so well when acting in many parts such a "Devotion" She was also one of the few early women directors. Actors respected her as well. Studios may have just as much. In her time, having a director who can bring in the long bill of TV shows and Films she directed on time in budget. Her credits speak for themselves. Her talents were used from the Twilight Zone to starring in big Hollywood films with co-stars like "Errol Flynn" which I must say, may have stolen the show almost every time we see her or hear her (on radio programs) She was one of a kind, never will we ever have another Ida Lupino. She's every bit Bette Davis' equal. Had they worked together in scenes with each other, we clearly would have seen two of the great actresses of that time, and probably all time if TV continues down the path of "quantity" over "quality" (for somebody born in the 80's) it's still strange seeing companies like Apple and Amazon making new content for "TV like shows" -UPS and FedEx may as well make their own content.
I would like seeing that in France. Here we only see her best movies and some séries. But never see her in I love lucy with french subtitles. We are late. Editors always editing the same movies she did.

Even in her older yrs, she played a convincing worried mom to actor Steve McQueen, and 'rainy woman wife' to film hubbie Robert Preston in 'Junior Bonner' an all-time common western folk film.
What a treasure to see this. I love stories on the classic stars. I read they were going to surprise the wonderful Ann Sheridan on This is Your Life who also worked with Ida, but Annie got wind of it. That’s a shame because there’s so little on Miss Sheridan, not ever a real biography or documentary.
She appeared nervous because she didn't know what surprise was in store or family member may show up. An M.O. of the show she was on. Yes, Ida was the ultimate professional. She was as good a director as she was actress.

In her performances, she was always tough as nails. But we always loved her, Since her acting was always of the first level. She had to be British to Be such a polished actress!!!

He realizes he made a mistake and shouldn't have said this, so he speeds up his voice here and tries to gloss over his comment quickly. Nice recovery, he almost pulled it off
Did you see all the trash at the Oscars the other night? It's unspeakable how we've fallen. There used to be wonderful people in Hollywood who put others first. Ida Lupino proves that.

That’s what you get from this? This woman made 2 films with Humphrey Bogart and made the transition to director when that just didn’t happen. She directed and starred in a twilight zone episode which merits respect from me. I want my daughter to be inspired by women from the past who accomplished far more in her Time then the leaders of society normally allowed.
