To me Yu-Gi-Oh will always be a comfort to me. I remember being a 8 year old little girl watching the episode of season 2 friends till the end as I was on the edge of my seat the entire time as literally up until I was in high school I was yugi. I was the shy timid girl with no confidence I didn't believe in myself because all my life I was told that because of my autism I would never amount to anything I would never be great or graduate school. Yu-Gi-Oh was a big comfort for me in school and my favorite was Yami but I really related to Yugi because he was literally like me shy and timid however thanks to his friends he grew as a person grew more confident and stronger and that happened to me thanks to my friends. I am now 23 and Yu-Gi-Oh taught me to value my friendships taught me to always believe in myself and always keep going no matter what even when things get hard Yu-Gi-Oh will always be a big comfort and so happy to have found this channel. Takahashi will always be a big part of Yu-Gi-Oh as he will be missed and created my childhood

Kazuki Takahashi, we love you, we respect you, you're the role model for the card game, and we miss you.
I have anxiety and autism. But thanks to one of his quotes, it inspired me to overcome my conditions so that I can use them as my tools of life to where I am right now.

Yugioh gx is my favorite yugioh and favorite anime of all time. It's one of my favorite things in the entire world, and I wouldn't have it without Kazuki Takahashi. It's something that has helped me through rough times and I constantly come back to it. I'm glad we had him for the time we did. Thank you, Kazuki Takahashi.

There could be no better way to start off a podcast than to pay tribute to Takahashi-sensei. Well done. I enjoyed how much Takahashi-sensei made an impact on everyone with Yu-Gi-Oh!, including myself. A very heartfelt thank you to everyone who is involved with Yu-Gi-Oh! in any way, shape, or form. For it will always and forever be a part of my life.

I think Takahashi was like a hero to me. I really didn't fit at school, but his work led me to the hobbies that are now part of me (3rd language learner, piano, singing, drawing/painting). This year hit hard with his passing. Knowing he passed heroically, makes me proud of him.
Rest in Peace Sensei. See you on the other side.

Takahashi-san created a legendary series that helped me make lots of new friends over the years, just like Yugi did after he solved the Millennium Puzzle. The Yu-Gi-Oh series will always be a part of my life and I'm eternally grateful to Takahashi-san for all his hard work. He will be greatly missed.

Yu-Gi-Oh has meant so much to me its what got me to met my best friend that is the bestest friend I have ever met. She was there for me when my grandpa passed away in 2020 and if it wasn't for Yu-Gi-Oh I wouldn't have met her. Or even created the bond I have with her. She loves Kaiba and I love Atem and Yugi. Yu-Gi-Oh has also gotten me through some major difficulties in life like when I lost my grandpa in 2020. I first started watching Yu-Gi-Oh when I was 8 years old and now I'm 29 and it still means a lot to me. I have been bullied in school and I connected to Yugi I was more bullied in high school and my friends even gave me the nicknames Yugi and Yami and I still have those nicknames to this day

We all do owe a lot to Takahashi-san. Yu-Gi-Oh touched the lives of so many, myself included. I even played against my brother, and collected the cards when I was younger. It was one of the biggest parts of my childhood along with Pokemon, Kingdom Hearts, and the 90s Disney Renaissance. I've always been a gamer. One of my friends who was like a little brother to me was also a fan, and that was one of the things we bonded over by reenacting the arcs. R.I.P, Takahashi-san, and thank you to Dan Green and Eric Stuart for helping define our childhoods.

This was a really nice thing to do. An unfortunate but memorable beginning for this new podcast. The YuGiOh anime series (dub especially) did not only help me through High School, but continues to inspire me to this day, and I'm sure I will continue to be inspired for the rest of my life.
I did not submit a story as I am worried I wouldn't be able to convey exactly what YuGiOh means to me, but I feel so validated hearing everyone else's accounts.
I was not expecting Takahashi-sensei to pass during my time in Japan, however I feel like it made me feel the loss more closely. It was so sudden, and I believe that this episode has provided closure for many people. Thank you, guys.

When i watched Yu-Gi-Oh for the first time i was a 12 yrs old outcast living in mexico, obviously we had different voice actors, amazing as well.
But after i moved to the states and was able to re-enjoy the series with the english dub and also the fact that you guys do live duels in yugioh events, well, that just made me fall in love with the game again.

I am awed by the impact Sensei had on the world. I have had mixed feelings on this subject. On the one hand, I have met both Eric Stuart and Dan Green, which I enjoyed both interactions immensely. I've always been a Pharaoh fan but an Eric fan more, but when I met Dan I turned into more of a Dan fan. Any Yu-Gi-Oh fan should meet both VA's if they can in their lives. They are both so enthusiastic to meet their fans, and the only time I have gone to an event and would literally pay anything for a moment of their time. They are both humble when they see the impact that their work has done. On the other hand, Yu-Gi-Oh was a small part of why I didn't graduate high school (other things tho, I was a lazy student) my fanfiction was what helped me get through the death of my sister in 2011. If it wasn't for Sensei and both of these wonderful VAs, I don't know whether I would have managed to get through the loss of my sister. Arigato, Sensei. Thank you both of you.

Genuinely cannot express how much KT's work means to me and what it did for me. Grew up in a pretty unfortunate single parent low income household helping raise my brothers. Together we played "playground rules" Yu-Gi-Oh! and this slowly translated into competitive and serious dueling. The manga, anime, and card game have been my main escape from reality and hobby for almost 20 years now. From 7 to 27. I'm now a medical student & PhD fellow neuro researcher and STILL its how I choose to spend my time outside of schooling/work/my family. Kazuki Takahashi's work changed my life infinitely for the better and his death was the first time I ever experienced sadness due to a "celeb" death. Not sure where I'd be if he hadn't created this beautiful universe, but it wouldn't be as bright thats for certain.

I had a pretty rough childhood growing up. My dad was an abusive alcoholic and my mom was basically raising me on her own, despite all 3 of us living together. While I was a huge fan of Pokemon growing up, it never connected with my mom the same way Yu-Gi-Oh did. The world and characters were so well-written and performed that, through the eyes of a kid, all felt so real, and it was something my mom and I could bond over, whether we were watching the show or playing the card game.
As a whole, I'm forever grateful for the Yu-Gi-Oh anime providing an immersive world that my mom and I could bond over, as well as distract from life's hardships for the both of us, no matter how fleeting. I'm grateful for the card game creating another avenue for my mom and I to bond. I'm grateful for the immense work and passion you and the other voice actors put into breathing life into all these iconic characters. Most of all, I'm grateful for Kazuki Takahashi, the man that created a franchise for millions to enjoy.

Dan & Eric thank you so much for all your hard work and for uplifting everyone as we grieve this tragic loss. It was honestly very comforting hearing you guys, the other VAs and the fans talk about all the positive impacts Kazuki Takahashi-sensei had on all of us. He was a kind, compassionate, talented man. He understood that friendships and human connections are important. He used games as his theme because many people can play a game together and have fun. And that’s so wonderful.
When I heard of his passing, I did break down in tears. I can relate to what Eric said where it felt like a father figure passed away. And how Dan said that even if you didn’t meet someone irl, the impact of a person can still be felt. I mentioned in my thread on Twitter, YuGiOh isn’t a show. It’s my home. It’s the one thing I always come back to and can feel happiness. I’ve wanted to give up on my life so many times but the friends I made through this show and the many amazing memories made through this, and confidence I learned from Yugi helped me become a stronger person. And that’s something that will never be taken away.
Thank you again 🙏🏼 I hope you both have a wonderful day. And I can’t wait for future episodes of this podcast.❤️💙

I had a similar experience to Eric. I woke up in the middle of the night and was checking my phone in the bathroom and the first thing I saw was the news of Takahashi-san's passing. And even though I never met him, it's always been my dream to meet and potentially get to duel him. And I was so incredibly sad because now I'll never get that chance. That next day after work I just spent the rest of the day experiencing his world, watching the Bonds Beyond Time movie and my favourite duels from across the different series. His work changed my life as a child and continues to impact it in my adulthood.

I've been looking forward to this a lot. It's nice hearing the two of your voices regularly again after all these years. You guys were a huge part of my childhood that shaped my adulthood, and I'm grateful for that. And if not for Kazuki Takahashi and the wonderful series he created, I don't know who I'd be as a person today. Many of my hobbies stemmed from Yugioh; other card games and tabletop games, and I met some of my closest friends through these games. Without you guys, without Yugioh, without Kazuki Takahashi I truly don't know where I'd be in life or who I'd know. So thank you for being a big part of my life.

Hearing your takes and feelings on this horrible loss really is enlightening. I’m looking forward to the future of this podcast, as your performances (along with that of a few other voice actors) inspired my drive to get into voice acting (which hasn’t succeeded) and shaped my childhood. Excited to see where this goes!

When I saw on my Twitter feed about Takahashi’s death, it felt like I’d been hit in the chest. And similar to Eric, I checked several news stories to see if this was a joke or prank. After doing that, I realized with a very heavy heart this had happened. The manga, anime and even the card game, all of which I still love, opened so many doors and allowed me to be the tomboy that I am today. I watched the anime series when I was about 12-13 years old, and it’s been a part of my life ever since. Whenever I feel bad, or just have had a crummy day, I’ll get onto my Amazon account and watch the series and start feeling better. Because similar to Yugi, I know I have people in my life that care about me and want me to succeed in whatever I choose to do. I’m aspiring to be a writer currently. Mainly I’m just doing it for fun, but who knows. I might have the drive to get some of my stories out there if I feel like it. So thank you Takahashi. Your stories have really helped me through some tough times and even now they still are.
