If it weren't for Kazuki Takahashi, Yu-Gi-Oh wouldn't have come to existence. The man truly left a massive impact on the world. Yu-Gi-Oh! is one of many things that made up my childhood. Rest in peace Kazuki Takahashi, you will be missed.
In episode 224 when Atem is walking into the Afterlife and giving us that thumbs up, we will now and forever see that as Kazuki walking off into the sunset to enjoy his afterlife. I'd also like to add one more to what Jounouchi/Joey said. "I hate to break it to ya, but you're not going anywhere. Cause everything you've given us stays right here in our hearts."
Beautiful eulogy; his passing not only made me pick back up my Fiend deck (GOAT Format) and study and make it become the greatest it could ever be but it has given me the inspiration and dedication to continue working on the franchises I have created. Seeing how he's touched the world and how much of a difference one person's ideas can make, it would be wrong of me to not do the same. Rest in peace, Kazuki. Rest in peace.
Thank you for such a great childhood, Kazuki Takahashi. Your work reflects your heart which was full of life, compassion and love towards all, including ourselves.
A beautiful tribute. If it wasn't for Takahashi I wouldn't have the deep appreciation for trading card games as a whole I have today. The complexity of cards interacting with one another in strong, unique, and even just downright absurd ways is such a joy to see. And the sheer variety of decks possible is astounding that you really do get to see into a person's heart with how their choice of cards. I stopped playing Yu-Gi-Oh heavily near the start of the Xyz era, and only really got lightly back into it a few years ago. My go-to decks back then were Gladiator Beasts and Dragunities. Not because they were powerful decks even though they absolutely were in their time, but because their playstyles resonated with me. I've moved onto Magic as my main card game since then, but I will always cherish the memories that wouldn't have been possible if Takahashi hadn't made this prolific franchise way back in 1998. Both old and new memories. Rest In Peace, Kazuki Takahashi. You will be sorely missed.
It's so sad... I played Yugioh since year 2000 until today... it's been 22 years since I discovered this card game... I earn to many friends, meets different person... and most of all enjoying this game.... big respect to the Legend.... King of Games!!!
Yugioh helped me with critical thinking too. It made me a friend. The monster "Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys" even taught me that when the world is crumbling around you (like destruction effects) you can come back shining even brighter. That was my first "real" deck and turned destruction and despair back on the opponent. It made me realize that I could weather the challenges ahead be they school, house hunting, or chronic illness and not let the world break me. The phoenix mythology and symbology became the foundation of how I lived my life. I wouldn't have that without Takahashi's work. May the Egyptian gods see his journey is a safe one.
I'm surprised he's gone. He was around 60 years old. Not old enough to leave this world the proper way of old age. It's unfair but he will be in a better place now. No more struggles. Rest in peace Kazuki Takahashi. Thank you for Yu-Gi-Oh! series. Thank you for the tribute video JCD Godot.
Thank you Kazuki Takahashi for your amazing creation. It brought happiness and joy. It helped many of us through hard times. Yugi Motto being small and weak then turning into a hero when he needed to taught some of us to stand up for ourselves. Rest in Peace.
When I read that Kazuki Takahashi had passed away I was shocked and sad. For me I grew up with Yu Gi Oh and it has always had a special place in my heart as I have learned so much from it. It was one of the few anime which was shown in the TV in my home country, when I was a kid along with Naruto. Those 2 anime/manga taught me a lot about many things such as friendship and other things. Thank you Mr. Takahashi for making such and amazing manga as Yu Gi Oh is. My prayers and deepest condolence goes to his family. May your soul rest in peace - The true King of Games Kazuki Takahashi ❤
When I was a child, I always wanted to duel the creator of Yugioh. Kazuki was my goal. I fell in love with his story. In love with the card game. A person to surpass was the creator himself. I had always improved my deck. Had fun when I pleased with this game. My favorite card, Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand was always with me. I still had that childish goal to duel the creator of Yugioh...only to recently find out that this man who had guided me in most of my childhood had passed away. Rest in peace you king of games.
Until earlier this year it had been over a decade since the last time I had played Yu-Gi-Oh, and only after thinking back about it did I realize how much of an impact it had on my life. And now the man who built the foundation upon which I made a lot of good memories and friendships is gone. I never met him and I can't say that I knew him, but I'm sad about it either way.
NGL when I woke up to the news Kazuki Takashi had passed, It hit me far harder than I expected it to. I did not expect the passing of someone who I only knew through his work and little else would have provided such a gut punch. Rest in piece.
This was so well done. He would have loved to see this. And I have been crying since hitting play. The king of games will live on in each of us. His legacy will never die.
Beautifully spoken. Kazu-san will be dearly missed, and hopefully the future of our favourite card game, his legacy, will continue to shine on for millennia to come...
As someone who grew up playing the game, I can definitely see how saddening it is to hear him passing away. May u rest in peace Grandpa Muto. And...as Yugi always said..."It's time to Duel!"
RIP The True King of Games and our Hearts. If their only was a real spell card called Great Human Reborn, I would used it to bring back Kazuki, cause he deserved to live more.
I'm happy for him to have delivered a perfect closure for yu gi oh and wouldn't ask for anything else. His duelist kingdom manga also largely influenced my childhood interest in drawing, besides gosho aoyama. Thanks, king.
If it wasn't for Yugioh existing, I would never have made childhood friends and grow as confident as I did. I remember going to many tournaments and pre-releases as a kid and making friends in my age group who last through my early teens and adulthood. I didn't have a way to make friends before that. Thank you
I can't add anything of value, beyond what my Mind thought as soon as I watched this Video: Though the Man is gone, Let the Heart of the Cards Beat Forever, and let us all recognise the Real 'King of Games'. We won't forget.
My first card i ever owned was killer needle it was given to me by my first true friend. i remember that weekend my mom took me to toys r us to get my first starter deck it was kaiba's i remember going to school that Monday and it rained so me and my new friends played all through recess. I remember us huddled around the rule book trying to understand it. I sense lost touch with that friend but i cherish these memories so i guess I'll say thank you I still have that killer needle
Funny thing is I still have my lava battle guard from when I was a kid it's been through a lot of duels and now it's just chilling in my collection binder
after i learned of his passing i actually went and found one of his artwork specialty cards for the blue eyes white dragon it was the 2017 shonen jump promo beacuse it was my favorite artwork i owe my life and the things ive discovered in my life feom yugioh to him i hope we willall see him again one day
I Love this. I play Yu-Gi-Oh and i've read it too. It pains me that i'll never get the chance to meet him and thank him for what he's given me. I hope he rests in piece like the pharaoh he is. Thank you Kazuki Takahashi...
I have watched the anime when it first was dubbed and continued to do so. I collect the cards and have made some great friends do to our love for the cards. I have even created my own cards for the game I love. I may not play it, but yugioh will always hold a special place in my heart. Goodbye kazuik Takahashi, you will be missed
I was a pretty lonely kid growing up, I only had a few friends growing up to the point I can count them on one hand, and only one I still have contact with, but without him I'd probably have zero, heck without him I'd probably never made it through some dark times in my life. He'll truly be missed, and may his legacy continue to reach those who need it
June 30th: technoblade passed away, undoubtedly one of the internet's greatest fighters And july 7th: kazuki Takahashi passed away as well, no doubt the greatest artist ever lived ( aside from master stan lee, of course, speaking personally here) people that brought MILLIONS together Be it Minecraft, a funny children's card game, world tournaments, and their dream to bring smiles to the world Respect for the fallen legends man, rest in peace o7
20 years I've been with this franchise. Losing Takahashi hurt really bad. I've never met him in person, but losing the man who created the game who helped me through my high school depression, and to this day keeps my spirits up?..It's like a part of all of us died.
As someone who only started playing tcg recently my only experience with this franchise until this point was some reruns of 5ds on teletoon and seeing the cards in stores, it was only until covid hit and I decided to try duel links that I had fully gotten into the game, I will miss takahashi as he had created a franchise that helped me become social after the pandemic
I came across this tribute a bit late. However, it's very noteworthy that you bring up attributing knowing your wife through Yu-Gi-Oh as a few years I lost my Duel Links account and couldn't accept losing all those hundreds of hours of progress. I turned to a Duel Links account on Facebook to see if anyone would be willing and kind enough to let me buy their account. The post was taken down quickly but one man saw it in time and was willing. After we sorted out the details a bit he opened up a bit about what the money I paid him was for and it was an investment for the ring he planned to propose to his fiancé with. I'm so glad as small and petty a role I may have had in that couples lives that I could help better their lives in just a small way. Thank you Takahashi San, for everything. Uniting people World's apart and making my childhood a bit brighter and continuing to shine ever so brightly even now. You will always be the Heart Of The Cards.
a few years ago, we lose Hiromi Tsuru aka the voice of Bulma, a character that, many of us pretty much grew up together with... and now we lose Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of some of the best modern mythos and a game that is still popular today. while i dont enjoy newer yugioh story nor playing the card game that have so much problem with power crept, but his original Yugioh manga will forever be in my heart...
It's a sad time as we lose the Original "Grandpa Muto" in Takahashi. I adored how he drew Joey Wheeler, and he will be sorely missed....

Man that shit hit deep. Rip 😢❤
He's the real "King if Games".
"Even though his stay isn't as long as we would liked, we're lucky we knew him at all".
Well said.
Long Live the true king of games!
Thank you kazuki Takahashi, you gave us not only a great anime, but a great card game as well. Rest easily legend.

I was truly shocked when I first heard that he was dead, I was looking forward to what he had in store for us in his future endeavors.
Same
Without Yugioh, some anime’s may never have even existed, thank you Takahashi for making our childhood great, may you rest in peace

Amazing part of my childhood. Remembering the times I spent with my little sister Sadly she no longer with me this brings back so many memories !
I saw the notification on duel links
And had to just stop
July didn't open great this year let's just all agree to that
June 30th: technoblade passed away, undoubtedly one of the internet's greatest fighters
And july 7th: kazuki Takahashi passed away as well, no doubt the greatest artist ever lived ( aside from master stan lee, of course, speaking personally here) people that brought MILLIONS together

Rest in peace 🙏 everything you gave us Will remain in our hearts
Kazuki Takahashi opened my world to anime beyond just sailormoon and DBZ
The irony... first Takahashi, and barely a day after, Abe.
