My favorite episode of this anthology series. There's nothing like a good alien invasion story. This was one of the creations that set the concept of Quinn Martin's THE INVADERS back into motion again.

The music to shows like this (and including this was) was fantastic. They really employed professionals. The composers and performers were as good as it gets. It's another example of how much things have gone to shit (in American pop culture) since the '70s.
InsertName125 Yes, your right. They orchestrated the theme all the way through the show instead of just a catchy intro and prerecorded generic segments to be used on every show. Very professional and more like a full length feature film. Also costly I’m sure paying an orchestra and composer on union wages in studio. I can sadly understand how that would be one of the first changes to be made for lowering the production budget of weekly programs in general. I’m kind of surprised anyone even noticed or bothered to comment on that. You’re showing your age. Take care.
By the way,Thank you for posting this short lived NBC series, which from the looks of it,is an original NBC broadcast, making this, exceptionally RARE,and very appreciated! thank you, again! 1977 was an interesting year on Primetime, especially with ABC-TV's Emmy winning mini-series "ROOTS",and short lived shows, like this, and "THE FANTASTIC JOURNEY",and the pilots to "QUARK" and "MAN FROM ATLANTIS"-and i may add, that this was a year before the debut of "PROJECT UFO",which was also a great TV series!
The bridge where David Birney's and Lynne Marta's characters are having a discussion is the old Center Street Bridge in the little town of Piru in Ventura County in Southern California. It's still stands but is no longer in use.
@Olivia Bordley More like a TV show from 1977. As to the original poster's "how life was back then," the majority of the individuals we see are aliens, or humans altered by the alien beings. So, it's hardly a good gauge of what life was like "last century."

I think this may have been a back door pilot for an updated version of The Invaders. Two years after this episode, QM produced an NBC movie called The Aliens Are Coming... which was another attempt at reviving The Invaders.
This is a remake or retread of the pilot episode for The Invaders (1967-68). That series was also made by Quinn Martin. This story is very similar to "Beachhead" in which David Vincent encountered a flying saucer landing and then went on to fight the insidious invaders who looked just like us. They have changed the plot slightly, and the nature of the aliens, but it is quite obvious where this story comes from. Check out The Invaders first episode after watching this and compare them :¬)
Yes, this is a remake of "Beachhead", the premiere episode of THE INVADERS. Quinn Martin used elements from his earlier creation to form a good alien invasion story that he could add to his anthology series here. Awesome. Never seen this before (from UK). Instantly recognisable plot points from the Invaders pilot with the fire and checked into the hospital under assumed name, even the sound of the craft at the start is lifted straight from the pilot. Don't like shoe horned air force believer though, takes away impact of lone man fighting the impossible odds, just like it did in Season 2 of the Invaders, in Season 2 they had a whole series of episodes to get that to work, tough to do that in 50 mins

There were many guest stars here, not household names, with the possible exception of David Birney. No negativity intended, but I would not be surprised if lots of viewers wondered, "Which of the ladies is Katherine Justice and which of the ladies is Lynn Marta?"
@@scvandy3129 If I wasn't such a fan of Barnaby Jones, I might not know the difference. They were both in episodes of Barnaby Jones & Cannon, both Quinn Martin productions.

This was actually aired in the UK on ITV on a Saturday evening under the title Twist In The Tale.
@@cratercritter no relation to Frank Overton (a QM regular)? 😅

David Shire's theme is a banger!
Would be nice if you could put what episode this is, i want to start watching from the beginning, but have no clue what ep this is.
Hi great video. Could you please upload No Way Out. Haven't watched it since the 1970s.
See my comments above also. I "might" have the ep inbound on DVD, tho I can't tell for certain if the guy just copied the 8 minute version on youtube or not. If you are interested and I wind up getting the full episode, are you interested in having a copy? Thx, SRE

Haven't heard of the episode Inbound. I'd only like a copy of No Way Out starring Bill Bixby. Thanks
david b Guess what? I found it!!!! All of "No Way Out" on DVD. . Taken from broadcast TV (and thus perfectly legal to copy) on a videotape and copied to a DVD, I'm very happy about the quality. If you give me your contact info, I'd be glad to send you a free copy.
