UA-cam found this for me and as someone who has been a handspinner (but isn't currently) I thought it would be worth a watch. Now that I've seen it I can say - I found this very confusing, so confusing that it's hard to explain. A couple things: cashmere comes from goats but this fabric looks like wool, which comes from sheep; I can't see cashmere, which is quite expensive and more of a luxury item, being made into fabric like this (sweaters and scarves yes; suiting no). And some of what was called thread here was actually unspun fiber (including that stuff that was going into a dyepot). I'm not sure this process was shown in order. Maybe it doesn't matter; this is supposed to give a general idea, and it's not like it's for a class, with a test later on. I just wish it was clearer.
I have about 12 cashmere jackets and 3 suits. A couple e are from Zegna in Italy, which is featured on the swatch book they showed. Dont be fooled by cashmere being expensive - Scopal in Huddersfield West Yorkshire, England to a sheep wool worsted 250 Super cloth at £3,500 per meter.
They seem to be showing the beginning of the process and then at one point, they branch off into other processes/ products made from that first process. SO it seems to jump all over but really they are going in order like 1, 2, 3, 4... (next process 5, 6) back to step 4 (next process 5, 6, 7) so on and so forth.
Cashmere goats produce cashmere wool from a soft, fine undercoat that's left to grow to full length over winter, and shed in spring, rather than sheared. There is another video somewhere "why cashmere is so expensive". So it is a form of wool, just not sheep's wool.
I just gasped and my husband asked why. "Because how it's made voice over guy is just outright wrong about what's going on in these clips! What else has he lied to me about?"
i dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know a way to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Nash Kairo Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I'm not sure it's missing steps, but it does seem like the steps aren't in order (maybe whoever edited it didn't know). When it's done by hand it's - take the fiber off the animal, wash it, card or comb it, spin it, weave it. Dyeing can be done at any stage depending on what you're trying to do. Machines would do it faster but I can't see the order changing.
I accidently landed here from watching huggbees. I now know there is no escape and i must watch all iterations of how it's made. I welcome my new overlords.
In Kashmir we call It pashmina higher quality cashmere . Kashmiri marriage is incomplete without pashmina shawl . We dont have large automated factories but it's done in traditional ways on traditional hand cranked machines .
That repair seems a bit sus. Seems there's nothing holding it in place except friction with the rest of the fabric. Don't know, just guessing. Any info?
If i can make sea water into Mega blast bolts ( XT43) then we can have unlimited energy and electricity Imagine turning H20 into a source of power for. Years Hmmmmm
You should also show how wool is collected from animals. They pluck the hairs, the animals howl in pain. The down is picked up with a special brush. It is torture you have to know.
I always enjoy watching how it’s made, i find it really relaxing at moments
Me too :)
Yeah!
The narrator is OP
Thanks! I always wondered how they could weave such a delicate design of fabrics without blemishes.

@Nash Kairo it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you really help me out!
How it's made is really relaxing and addictive!
It sounded they they recorded 3 different intros but didn't know what one to use so they just used them all.
When the seamstress repaired the broken thread, it seemed like sorcery
The fascinating thing would be a story about the design of those machines and how they are manufactured. As a non-engineer, it boggles the mind.
Agree!
I always wants to know about the making of those machines, not just this machines, but any type of industrial machines
*I am trapped in an infinite ♾ loop of How it’s made videos*
Have you watched the "How it's Made" video showing how a "How it's Made" video is made? That's a loop in a loop.
It seems that process is pretty long......... But explained easily as well😊
FEELS LIKE IM MISSING A FEW STEPS AND A FEW MACHINES, MAYBE THEYRE CLOSE GUARDED SECRETS

Cashmere comes from goats. Angora comes from rabbits!

This is what Science Channel is known for, How It's Made.
It's one of the few channels left that isn't entirely reality TV. Discovery, history, and animal planet are all reality shows
it's 3pm now and UA-cam recommend me this and I'm curious
Greetings from México
Cool cashmere!
I guess it explains why it can be so expensive!
Nice 👍👍👍
Anyone know the narrator's name?
His voice is just amazing
His name is Brooks Moore.
Everyone is a gangsta until the threads at 3:09 tangle.

Damn where are all the bad puns. That's what made these videos even better. 🤣

The whole fabric is held together by friction, the repair just a little bit weaker very few can notice it on a finished garment.
I thought this was Huggbees for a moment-
Now I know 👍
The background music sounds sad😌😔
Big machines took the work and profit from the small industries.
yeah, more than 100 years ago. Let it go.
ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW HOW ITS MADE FOR A LING TYME

Very shabby offering.

If you read this in a Russian accent, it makes perfect sense.
So the expensive cost of living in America is because bad merchants raise the product price ten or ten times that real cost from manufacturer?
1000000% almost the only reason lol
I live in Kashmir and yes they are pretty normal.
anybody else wonder how they make "how it's made"?

@How it's made--------- Shiny Smooth Satin Fabric. Not Silk. I'm talking About Satin. Bridal Satin. Or Polyester Satin. Thank You How It's Made.

Wrong. They're shaved, just like humans going to the barber.
