I wasn't even thinking about trying to got a stationery store on this trip (let alone a Kinokuniya!) - I was just focused on finding lunch LOL The parrot folder is made from Midori - I just noticed on emails that came yesterday that some places are stocking these type of folders, so Kinokuniya must get stuff before other stores!
They really carry authentic and more unique Japanese products! I haven't been to the Chicago one but I make a yearly pilgrimage to the one in New Jersey or NY. Maybe I need to do a tour around the country and go to them all LOL.
There was something about the bear stamp that was calling my name (I am still at novice at stamping and don't use them often). Does Toronto have other stationery shops? Thanks for watching!
Wooooo~this will be a long comment LOL First ~ I love the pilot Hi-tec pen, I use 0.5 and 0.3. I believe it is also the first brand and pen I used when I learn how to write and switched from using a pencil to a pen. although I grew up in Asia, it is still a fancy and pricy pen( it was one dollar, but the other cheap local brand pens may only cost a quarter). however, it has good quality. Many students love and use them. The second most popular pen in the student group is uni 0.38. They are my high school memory LOL Second, the hi hi kuma stamp is so cute!!! Love the bear~ can't wait to see how you use it!!!. last but not least, I love the brand "北星鉛筆 kitaboshi pencil" too!! I dont have the same model, but I had another model called 大人の鉛筆 which is my first cult pen (I like the design and the simple looks. but the quality... after I try more cult pens I aware it is just okay). I do have another mechanical pencil you show on your live. but I am not sure if it is from the same brand you have. The one that I pick has weekdays on the hexagon body with different activities in French. like... Monday read a book, Friday watch a movie... so much detail and so much fun with Japanese stationery
For awhile I thought the Hi-tec pen was going to be discontinued, but maybe I read that wrong somewhere? I think I didn’t try the 0.5 before, which is why I realized I like it more than the 0.4 I never heard of Kitaboshi before!! I really like the design of it and the fact that it comes 1.0 which isn’t very common…I think I have a similar item to what you’re talking about!! Maybe it’s Mark Inc? I have the one that is days of the week on a golden barrel ~~
@@stationery.shenanigans I believe I read the info too, cause at that time I thought "How is it possible!?" Maybe we all got the fake news or rumor... I meet Kitaboshi at an online bookstore!! I am not sure if this company is famous or not, but I like the simple design :) I love the company name too, it let me think of the North Star. YES, I believe it is Mark or Marks. Mine is olive green with cream-yellow words I guess. The color and words are already fading away, BUT... I can not find the pen now.
Fun haul! Yours had a lot of stuff, much better stocked. I wonder if the prices were less because there are more Asian stores & it's "closer" to Japan?
That's a good point, maybe a lot of stuff gets shipped through the ports in California from Japan so it's naturally cheaper. I was just really surprised and did a double take on some of the prices at Mitsuwa, because I was just at the one in New Jersey in December and it was definitely much more expensive! I could have spent much longer in Kinokuniya but had to stop myself LOL
What a great haul! I love Moomin anything so those biscuits are really cute! I also loved the bear stamp and the parrot/stationery file folder!
Whenever I see things with parrots I immediately have to get it, LOL!
The bear stamp is so fun!
It was calling my name!
Nice way to spice up a work trip - woohoo! Nice haul! The parrot folder is so cute!

I love going there….there is one near Chicago I have been to a few times.

Love the fountain pen stamp!! Looks like they had a lot of stuff there……and I’ll thank a packet of your milk tea….thank you very much 😂
For some reason the milk tea packets taste way better than making it yourself LOL
@@stationery.shenanigans that's why I asked for one....🤣
i just did the same thing yet in Chicago. Got 3 more "rainbow" pens from Sarasa. now I have a complete set. thanks for sharing.
That's awesome! Sometimes the stores have things I don't see online, or it catches your eye.
You had to get another candy bar because you used the package of the other one. LOL Great haul!
When I saw it, I grabbed it so fast LOL

Wow! I enjoyed the tour. Toronto does not have a Kinokuniya, sadly. Bear stamp is my fav.

@@stationery.shenanigans I guess it also depends on which area/city you visited. Although they all are Misuwa in CA, the price is slightly different.
