Just got a zero tolerance 0004. Ordered a Montana knife company battle goat lastnight on there tactical drop. I don’t like carrying folding knives so both of these companies impress me.
@ I didn’t say you need to correct them. Just pointing out that magnacut is new to them and is not their “lowest steel.” MKC is still running cheaper steels on drops in addition to the magnacut (which is a good thing and something I hope they keep doing as it provides lower price points for the same designs). They seem to be making some big moves to expand and it’s unclear if they will be phasing out “lower” steels, but I’m excited to see what they do next. It’s cool that Josh means business and won’t take shots from competition lightly. The fact that Benchmade sees them as a threat is a huge compliment and portends more success for Josh and MKC ahead.
@@potatosnacks5571 , I met two people that worked there, and they became friends to me. One quit last year, and the other quit a month ago. Both of them left because of what benchmade has become, they both said that they couldn’t work at a place that they no longer had respect for.
I really hope you're able to get that second interview.. It's high time that their situation gets a light shed on it. Not just for one company but several that have been affected. I'm happy that MKC had enough money to stand up for themselves. As you know, that's not usually the case.
I enjoy watching your content brother, you're one of the few people I can actually sit through from beginning to the end. Benchmade absolutely jumped the gun on suing this company, they dont even know why they did it. As for trade secrets, Benchmade doesnt have anymore secrets 😂. The Chinese have absolutely ripped them apart and rightly so, you can get the exact same knife with the exact same steel or better for a quarter of the price from the Chinese. Call it what you will, but Benchmade had it coming and now they look like douchers. Bravo MKC, stand your ground and counter sue for defamation and damages lost.
Seems companies think they own their employees. Not! Form a consumer stand point, a lot of us feel that BenchMade have become a bit Haulty. (Arrogant, too big for their pants). A lot of us feel BenchMade would do better paying a little more attention to simple things. Things like decent quality control which has been seriously slipping of late. That and the outrageous pricing that is totally out of line with both the workmanship and QC issues. So many have sworn off BenchMade out of disgust. We feel we the customer has been and is being disrespected and wholly taken advantage of. It will not bode well for them in the future. It would seem they have forsaken their routes while leaning on their Government contracts beyond anything else. KnifeMaker/Retired after over 47+ Years in the Craft and in association with the original R.W. (Bob) Loveless/Jim Merritt Knife Shop
Also, from a lawyer’s perspective, it does appear Benchmade jumped the gun with a lawsuit. I looked at the documents back in April/May and forgot if they originally sued for damages or an injunction but an injunction would have been less problematic from a sanctions perspective by nature. Still, sanctions are rarely granted in general, so the judge declining to award sanctions (at least so far) is not surprising. Thanks for keeping us updated on this.
100% The employee is the victim. I feel bad for this dude. Ya know it would make sense that Benchmade was so upset this guy left or disliked him so much they took action against the company he went to. It is a possibility cause and effect. The guy is now either unemployed or, at minimum, not doing what he enjoys the most.
I'm glad non compete clauses are being weakened, if not completely eliminated. There are a lot of talented people who love the industries they are in but get treated poorly by larger companies. Those people rarely take any "trade secrets" to the other companies, they do help those companies grow. Which is what the bigger guys are affraid of
Instead of Benchmade talking bad about MKC, they sue and drop it. Then its in the news, and it makes MKC look bad. They are talking smack through the courts.
Non competes are so ridiculous and shouldn't exist. If you have IP then you sue the company who infringes. And if the old employee is guilty of stealing that trade secret, we have laws in which they can go to jail over. Corporate rule needs to end in all forms
Thanks for staying on this case. Very upsetting for Benchmade to employ these tactics. Having a successful company is awesome but monopolizing and gatekeeping that's a whole different subject. Definitely interested in the other case you mentioned.
I like the knives from Montana Knife Company, but F their customer service. I've been treated like shit by them on multiple occasions, one employee specifically. Unfortunately, if you email their customer service department this employee seems to be the one who gets all of those emails. I own 3 of their tactical knives, a few t-shirts & hats. I will be throwing away my hats & shirts & i will NEVER buy another knife from them again. If i told anyone here the latest issue i had with them, you all really wouldn't believe it. I wish i had a way of getting directly in touch with Josh cause I respect him, but wonder if he knows how some of his people treat customers & are running his company. Its a shame. I really wanted to support them & root for them, but I'm done. Bench Made, on the other hand, has always taken care of me. Im not as big of a fan of their knives & think a lot of them are overpriced, but customer service wise they make Montana Knife Company look like amateurs. I'm truly sad about my experiences with MKC. I was their biggest fan until all this happened.
@@jimbusmaximus4624 I have many of their autos from years ago and two min-griptilians - and love them all. Now, their other stuff lately as you say, not so much.
I hope MKC stick it to benchmade if you push around or bully other companies, it might come back on you. It’s no love lost to me if bench made loses this. That’s what you get for not supporting the 2A community.
MKC Should at least get costs. Non Compete clauses should be made illegal. No company owns a person.

Montana Knife Company has primarily used 52100 steel. Magnacut is new to them.
Ummm? So I need to go back and correct the company? Primarily for them meant "most" not newest

@ I concur.
At this point, I don’t see where any actual damages have occurred to either party. If this continues, the only winners will be the lawyers.
Absolutely no respect for bench made
The story is interesting
Which sucks. They were my go to for a large portion of my life

Not after their price, Hikes for the type of knife your receiving. Overpriced
New to knife world and was gonna get a bench made until I saw the prices good lord,I’ll stick to civivi quality stuff for decent price

Yet another reason I am not a benchmade fan. I recently bought the bugout knockoff that Walmart is selling and didn’t feel bad about it at all.

Thanks for weighing in because I'm just reading from the non lawyer perspective. This was helpful!

Thanks, X, for the update!
No problem. Keep an eye out for the next update.
Great reporting and great insight, thanks for the video
I love a great black frame 👓 🤓
Only the best
I think I have more Benchmades than any other brand. From now on, when I get the urge to buy another BM, I'll buy from MKC.
Instead of Benchmade talking bad about MKC, they sue and drop it. Then its in the news, and it makes MKC look bad. They are talking smack through the courts.

If a company hires you in any role( other than to inventory or develop new IP) and wants a non-compete, walk away.

Great topic. Thanks for the update.
I wonder how many gun companies have that problem
Gatekeeping it's just a knife in the end, I wonder how many people use that out in the field

If/when MKC gets their “victim”, they’re gonna come for that folding knife money!!! Then it’s a wrap!
They gave me a clue about a folder. I'll release the full interview
I never liked Benchmade because the handles on their knives are too small I like longer handles on my blades
Benchmade got that weak jaw 😅 iykyk 😬 Thanks for the update X !
No problem!!
Mkc fan
Gas station knives.
You're wearing a blouse? Like Nacho Libre?
Benchmade seems like a bunch of tools
Arrogant and raising prices because they think they are deserving.
@@homeofinventionsThey're raising prices and their QC seems like it's worsening. They're just not worth the money anymore in my opinion.

I hate the bm company...but crap i sure love their knives

Benchmade is too proud of theor product
Plenty of just as good or better USA made knives
I go to SMKW all the time, Benchmade both is almost always a ghost town. Customers pay attention!
Prices too high.
mkc is over rated and over priced if you ask me... and their marketing techniques suck
Boring designs.
