    Simple and great I feel my whole head relaxing deep inside after doing a few rounds on each side. Thank you so much, you have great content!

    love how I'm always clicking back in your vids to read the notes I missed while I was watching the demo ("did he say raise it back down" lol). funny i was thinking about this sort of mobility recently when I saw my daughter just sleeping with her head on her shoulder! granted she's 3 and has a huge melon for her body but I was like wonder if I can do that... nope!

      Ah, you’ve got a great teacher in your house! Keep an eye on her and occasionally practice what she does. She’ll get you right!

    Hey Tim! Thanks for another great video. The quality and content of your videos are getting better and better! Have you ever thought of creating an Internet training package (for pay) with longer videos and more explanation? I would see this as the next step to expand OS over the globe!

    • @OriginalStrengthSystem
      @OriginalStrengthSystem  5 років тому +1

      Luiz, thank you for the suggestion. Do you have a vision of what this would look like - as far as information, areas of interest, or package focus? Just curious!

    • @lfegri
      @lfegri 5 років тому

      @@OriginalStrengthSystem Tim, my vision is that these video-classes would allow for people anywhere in the world to learn from the basic moves of Original Strength to more advanced ones, how to include OS in their existing workouts (replacing warm-up and cool-down routines by OS movements), moves with focus in specific areas, etc. High quality videos with you providing the explanation and then executing the movements from multiple angles would be the next best thing after you providing a face-to-face class! Hope this helps!

      @@OriginalStrengthSystem Tim, take a look at Vladimir Vasiliev in Toronto too. He has produced at least a zillion videos training aspects of Systema. I think mostly from classes he is already teaching. The videos are excellent advertising. More important, they are a genuine help. Probably the next best thing to being there. Thank you and please keep going.

    Tim, my necks also about that long. Although slightly slimmer. Been reading a bit last few years on neck strength as biggest factor in concussions and TBI. Just changing orientation to the planet helped hugely working through kinks in my range of motion. Thank you. What think you of weighting these movements? Looked much at Iron Neck yet?

    • @OriginalStrengthSystem
      @OriginalStrengthSystem  5 років тому

      That’s great to hear! I think loading these movements is and can be ok and good to do once the neck is ready. So, after one is certain the neck is strong and able and ready to go, then loading the neck can be great.

    Very interesting thank you. I have quite inhibited lateral flexion and general neck stiffness. I’ve noticed it’s more postural, small movements, being in certain positions. Allot of headaches and stiff erector spinea. Allot of shoulder therapy, upward rotation etc. I think I have allot of weakness in both extension and flexion. I can’t shake it for over a year now. The sides of my neck are rock hard, bending is tough. At first we thought levator scap but now my thinking is more erector/posture and just plain old muscle fatigue in side bending. That rolling motion looks really effective.

      Jo, it may also be breath related. Make sure you’re breathing down into your belly and keeping your tongue on the roof of your mouth. It sounds crazy but it could change your life.

    • @xpost92
      @xpost92 4 роки тому

      @@OriginalStrengthSystem thank you. Yes I need to get back to this as I’ve let it slip. I know it does sound crazy but when you dig into the breath thing it makes allot of sense. The headaches are worse whenever I do exercise ball back extensions. I’ve always got a sore tight lower back. Actually the breath thing could be the problem when I look at all of the issues like tight scalenes, chronic neck tension, many years of anxiety. Nothing seems to move this problem no mater what I do so....I think I’ll really just focus on this solely over the next week. I think when I’m asleep it is a real problem, not sure how to change that. I guess just keep at it during the day. Thanks again

    Tim, by now, I think you know I’m a fan of you and your work. That’s why I’m taking this opportunity to harass the heck out of you for this one! 😂 brother! If your neck were any longer, you would be a giraffe! I never realized how preternaturally long your neck was until you did this video! I see why you have not done any lateral flexion movements before now! Oh and I hope you never decide to go strictly vegetarian...the tree tops would fear you! All kidding aside man, thanks! Great suggestions here! 🙏🏽

    Thank you very much for this good exercise. May I ask you something: In the cervical spine you can do not only rotational movements, but also so called translation movements in the sagittal and coronar plane. Especially the last is often very bad when you get older. Do you know a good exercise for that?

    • @OriginalStrengthSystem
      @OriginalStrengthSystem  5 років тому +2

      You are correct. The neck can also move in those ways. Some slide and glide the neck forward and back like a chicken as well as side to side. The forward to back is easiest for most to achieve. The side to side is difficult for most. Let me think on this a bit. Thank you for the question!

    If I suffer from chronically tight scm muscles, should I avoid this since grocery shopping looking laterally makes my scm get tight, or am I off?

    • @OriginalStrengthSystem
      @OriginalStrengthSystem  4 роки тому +1

      The best thing you can do for your SCMs is ensure you’re breathing well with your diaphragm and keep your tongue rested always on the roof of your mouth. Also, you don’t want to avoid rotation as much as rediscover it. Unless it causes acute pain due to a physical issue. If it causes acute pain explode where you can move without causing the pain. Basically, seek to move where you can to restore your body’s ability to move without fear or pain. I hope this helps some

      @@OriginalStrengthSystem That is so awesome, thanks. Fear is so crucial to bring up, because it is fear that causes my anxiety and tense muscles. a lot of my posture issues, vertigo and tight muscles are due to fear. So I will stop being afraid to move muscles thinking I will tense them more and try and rediscover. And instead of massaging or trigger pointing SCM, (which scares me since there are delicate things close by) I will focus more on what you said, breathing and tongue on roof. Why is that such a factor, just out of curiousity? It is all so interesting, and I have wondering how the tongue on the roof of mouth keeps the SCM relaxed?? You are awesome!!

    • @OriginalStrengthSystem
      @OriginalStrengthSystem  4 роки тому +1

      I completely understand about fear - it is a trap, a lie used to keep us from becoming all we were meant to. It only serves to keep us from living. It’s sneaky and subtle though and takes many forms. Just know that you are meant to be bold and courageous, you are strong and you are capable of all good things.
      As far as the tongue goes, it belongs on the roof of the mouth, and there it tells the nervous system, “I am safe. All is well.” The safer the nervous system feels, the more good information it has, the more it lets go and allows you to move and be. The nervous system guards and responds to fear as well. It wants to feel safe. The tongue is the rudder that guides the whole ship to safety. In a sense... Merry Christmas!

      @@OriginalStrengthSystem Merry Christmas to you too. Not only are you smart, but you are also very good at explaining, a great teacher. Hope your classes appear in Albuquerque some day. also, if you could do a video on how to get the right posture having a long neck, me too, in these new cars with stupid headrests that push your head super far forward, and have your hips way below the knees. It's totally messing with my posture.

      Lee, with all respect to you, Many find the videos to be helpful. I've plenty of videos on the big 5 movements. This video is part of nodding and easily fits with head control. I did see your comment from last week as well. Though several others commented on the same video expressing their enjoyment of that particular movement. Thank you for your input.
