I’m taking a 20lb tank with my Mr. Buddy heater to Ft. Stewart hog hunt next week! That little fan you put on the Mr. Buddy is a game changer. I used it last year and it made my tent very toasty. It’s a must have honestly
Mate diesel heaters are great , not smelly at all , blow dry heat ( no condensation ) and use very little fuel or power. They are a bit noisy when they start up for aprox 5min . I bought one from amazon during winter June July August here also used it going into my house to keep the electricity bill down.... having an exhaust for safety sake you keep them outside or at the door and pump the hot air in. Check out reviews of the LF BROS Diesel heater.
Hot ideas for sure. Diesel heaters might work for a small cabin but I wouldn’t want to be setting up/taking down one every trip. I could heat my camper enough with an electric heater that my furnace never ran. I need options for tent camping. (Sold camper). That little heater going under you cot with quilt hanging down on three side like curtain should be the ticket to toasty sleep. Have looked at the electric radiant oil heaters? With Dan to help move air they work good but would need camp ground power to run. And they are slower to heat a room.
I have the little buddy tilt heater and love it too. I also set it by my bed to warm up the area before getting out of bed, and make my coffee on it at the same time. I wonder if they still sell them and what they're even called?
I have the buddy heater and I am really pleased with it except be aware at higher altitudes (I live at 8300 feet) it struggles to work due to the oxygen sensor shutting the unit off. At lower elevations it works great.
Id like to see a diesel heater review just to see if your opinion would change. I've got one in my van probably gonna order an all in one just for power outages that we hopefully don't experience in the next few days.
Mylar to reflect back radiant heat. The easiest way to make a small heat source more efitiant is to make the space it needs to heat smaller . Can use mylar as a reflective wall to shrink a space? Cots I wonder if you can use a hammock type underquilt. I built my own box style under quilt full length first layer conforms to bottom of hammock and the side wall of the that makes it a boxed under quilt is just at the thickness of the loft so loft dosent get fully compressed. It's a synthetic climashield because here in louisanna everthing gets wet . Also why run a underquilt protector as a wind break and protects from under quilt being splashed with water.
Diesel heaters do not smell and are far superior to a buddy heater. I use two for emergency backup heat for our entire house and run both on a 100ah lifepo4 battery. Runs a long time and far less expensive than propane.
