    They need to bring something like this back.
    this was the secret gem for really small gaming PCs back in the day.
    And it looks awesome. Something similar would defenitely work with modern cards aswell.
    Especially because something like a 4060ti needs way less power and therefore gets cooled way easier then a 1070.
    Would be even cooler if they plated contact plate so u can use liquid metal.

    I love these sorta cards, so small but powerful! I wish they would make more of these, builds are so cool with these small cards.

    You are mistaken a bit. E.g. I built my machine in January 2012, way before I knew that new cards would require 2 or 3 slots.all other slots are used with cards or external usb brackets, so other 1070s are maybe smaller than the Katana but thicker and hence require more than 1 slot, hence there you go: My usecase. I use it as my daily driver and it works perfect in combination with my AMD FX-8370 Eight-Core @ 4.00 Ghz :)

      True. BTW how the cpu holding?

    • @nafcom
      @nafcom 2 місяці тому

      @@DanielCardei How it's holding up? Pretty well! I constantly push it to the limits, e.g. via games like RoboCop: Rogue City (which does utilize the card to 97% and so on) or at the moment Star Trek Resurgence which has a 1080 as a system requirement so it is pushing the 1070 to its extremes as well. But then I am not panicking when it reaches 90°C at times, considering the card is designed to handle up to 95°C before thermal throttling.
      Also forgot, I still have optical drives in my case, so newer cards wouldn't even fit sometimes in lengths :)

      @DanielCardei  2 місяці тому

      @@nafcom 90°C its not ok. Only card i`ve seen running that hot was GTX 480. Some cases GTX 295 but look at the hot spot how hot is that?

    I was using GTX 1070 for 8 years just recently changed to RX 6800 Xt becouse of occasion, very good cards they were the 1000 series and still after 8 years i sell it for 1/4 of value.

    Xeon W3690 Is the best cpu for X58 overclocking , my w3690 is running 4.7Ghz paired with a Gtx 1070 TI

    The x56xx xeons are very good overclockers. They can do +40% fsb/qpi clock. I think the w36xx can also overclock well. X58 like asus P6T has come down in price. But they are old and some are failing. I have some working x58. It’s an old beast. I used the x5675 in 3 builds, it’s good for 60fps ;) also with so many pcie lanes you can add a 4x or more pcie to nvme adapter and boot with clover from usb stick to nvme. Much faster than sata 300mb/s ;)

      i know i`m pulling the cpu down with this HP z400 and i think in the future will be great to have a custom setup for 1366 so i can push much higher on this type of chips.

  • @mealot7613
    @mealot7613 3 місяці тому +1

    You can try the W3520 which was originally shipped with the hp z400. Or try like one of the best quad cores, like Xeon X5687 or the fastest dual core cpu Xeon X5698. The dual core is clocked pretty high with 4.4 ghz but a bit of a unicorn. Maybe try a slower dual core.

    • @LiquidSnake690

      It's not a good idea to pair a GTX 1070 with a dual core cpu no matter how fast it is because most modern and newer games require 4 or more cores to run smoothly. Pairing a GTX 1070 with a fast dual core cpu would be no different than pairing it with a fast single core cpu in both cases they would be holding back the GTX 1070 because most modern and newer games require 4 or more cores and a modern instruction set just to run.

    I think PCie 2.0 held back your GTX 1070 because your GTX 1070 wasn't close to being 100 percent utilized in most of these games. I really don't think the cpu was the bottleneck here and I think for sure PCie 2.0 was the bottleneck.

    This may be a dumb question but: Do you think PCIE 2.0 over 3.0 will affect the performance of the 1070 at all? Idk the bandwith of this card very well but I noticed that it was PCIE 2 in gpu-z at the intro.

    • @JohnSmith-iu8cj

      Maybe 2-3% less performance

      @zushikatetomotoshift1575 3 місяці тому +1

      All depends on the workload.
      Like Memory demanding stuff plus bandwidth speed.
      PCI Express link performance workloads will matter.
      As for gaming not a huge impact until you run pci-e 2.0 at x8.
      Running PCI-E 4.0 at x8 is the same speed as pci-e 3.0 x16 speed.

    • @LiquidSnake690
      @LiquidSnake690 3 місяці тому +2

      Yes PCie 2.0 definitely held back the GTX 1070 in most of these games considering the GTX 1070 wasn't close to 100 percent utilization with the exception of Farlight since that game is capped at 240 fps max.
