He's 87 and non stop because....he never stops. The way to age well is to keep moving, keep creating, keep being interested in life. Your grandparents are great examples of this.
Cant stop moving. You dont stop moving because you get old you get old once you stop moving but us Italians age better than most all the best things come from Italy!
He was right about the gym, too. His grandson is just too young to fully figure that out yet. What looks it gives you isn't worth the effort put in, and looks are vanity that fades anyway. People who are fortunate enough to have grandparents to listen to and actually listen to some of the wisdom that comes from them are so truly blessed.
Julian, he is teaching you to reuse and repurpose. Not only does it save money but it saves the planet. At the same time he is teaching you how to maintain a food forest in a small space outside of its natural climate. Survival skills ❤
Italians were poor and out of poverty they reused. Its not about the current false narrative going on now. This was natural to people living in poverty. Yet the government comes out likes its thier plan
You know Jules, when watching today I was thinking. Aside from you starting this channel and bringing Nx2 to the masses, aside from all that, its really giving you the chance to really connect with your grandparents not only doing what they love but to spend memorable moments that'll last you a lifetime. Not to mention the a vault of video you can look back on for generations. Pretty amazing!
Think how amazing for all the future great grandchildren and beyond. Dude this is amazing for your family. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I love figs so much, grilled on the bbq and drizzle with honey. Yummy.
WELL SAID! Amen. I miss my grandparents. When I had a near death experience in early 90s I saw them again. So I felt such peace knowing I’ll see them again. These grandparents are brilliant and their family is so lucky to have them in their lives.
Elders are smart. Lucky grandkids who have them. See that us the reason WEF passed as 70 the “ death age” so nobody can pass on the knowledge. Yes those rich senile lazy old men just passed that rule fir the world to “ achieve it”…😮😢
Elders are smart. Lucky grandkids who have them. See that us the reason WEF passed as 70 the “ death age” so nobody can pass on the knowledge. Yes those rich senile lazy old men just passed that rule fir the world to “ achieve it”…😮😢
I'm a first gen American to immigrant family from the former Yugoslavia so all of this is very familiar to me. Makes me think of my grandparents. I still live like this with my parents and help my mom with the gardens every year. Simple life is the best life.
Not my hubby! He’s dedicated to the tv while sinking my wing chair seat watching calcio all day long but, he thinks he knows all about gardening. 🤭 Our fig trees I overwinter in his cantina where they’re nicely dormant until spring…(in southern Ontario, it means the end of April…maybe) 😅
An in-ground fig tree in Canada. Incredible. What’s more incredible is the wisdom and mentorship being passed on. Nonno has to be one of the best coaches. I echo his comment about not needing to go the gym. Working in the garden is all you need!
my dad had the same ritual for winterizing his fig trees. he also stuff hay to help prevent frost. then one year we built a heated green house to house his fig trees and plant his seeds earlier in the spring. That greenhouse was his pride and joy.
Nonno reminds me of all the elders and their gardens, orchards and workshops in the village I lived in in France. Their motto was "reuse, repair, replace (if absolutely no other solution) and recycle." Throwing anything away was usually looked upon with shock and dismay. "We can find something to do with it." And they always did until whatever it was generally disintegrated. Nonno is a living example of generations of genius, thrift and experience in whatever handiwork is needed. I can imagine elder Italians protecting their fig trees in similar clever ways in the more mountainous regions. This channel is a precious record and I appreciate it.
Nonno reminds me of my Mom, nothing ever went to waste. She told me that if I grew up during the depression, I would understand because I would give her grief about her never throwing things away. I miss my Mom💗now that she’s not here, please cherish your Nonno and Nonna, they’re amazing💕
@ we were so lucky and blessed to have them and teach us that not everything has to be new. Especially how to make a great meal with whatever was in the pantry and fridge.
Nonno is exactly like my dad was. He was the same kind of gardener as Nonno, and the same master McGyver. My dad was always able to repurpose, not throw out! He would never buy new things if he could repurpose and make it himself. Using the speaker wire is something my dad would do too! My dad continued his garden until he was 90. He left me at 92. Nonno even looks like my Dad. I wish I could send you a picture. They even wear the same hat! Every Nonno video reminds me sweetly of my Dad. Thank you, Nonno! You warm my heart.😘
Fantastic! Nonno is a wonderful teacher- You're beyond fortunate to spend quality time as you apprentice under your amazing Grandfather, Julian. Blessings.
For years, my elderly Italian neighbour did this to winterize his precious fig tree! The only difference was he literally bent the tree far enough to bury it! Then he'd fill in on top of it with piles of leaves, boards and plastic. Every Spring, he was out there springing it back up again...
Nonno you’re one a kind. I’m sure you have been in Canada longer than your birthplace Italy but you still do everything old school. You have so many genuinely amazing ideas. Without having to buy unnecessary stuff
⭐️COMMON SENSE IDEAS!♥️ ⭐️They work!🤣👌 He is just too ADORABLE! Thank you for being so patient, loving and AWESOME with him!♥️ I love how you keep him challenged by ALWAYS ASKING questions and explore where his thinking is at! I am learning from Nonno!😆
I love Nonno's voice , accent and I love the way he talks. I also love the way your family blends together making every single moment breathe LIFE. SO FUN TO WATCH.
Hi Guys 👋🏼😃❤️🌹! Fantastic video Julian, thanks so much, please keep making these videos of our fabulous Nonno Pasquale❤❤❤I absolutely Love Nonno soo much, really, I admire and get a lot of inspiration from him. He reminds me of my beloved grandmother - a Jack of all trades like gardening, cooking, sewing, fixing anything, never throwing anything away😂 And including being a great piano player! I loved listening to Nonno on the harmonium👌🏼🥰👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Lots of Love ❤❤❤ from me Stephanie. In Bombay, India 🇮🇳 I truly wish I can come across and say hi to you guys when I’m in Canada. I used to live in Toronto many years ago.
Nonno is the best! I love him❤and I love how you are listening to him and taking in his teachings. Cherish him; this will be one of the best memories for years to come
what your grandfather is giving you is priceless. The knowledge he has and gives you is the best gift you will ever get. You are lucky to have those grandparents. They are the best
Man would I like to spend an afternoon in the garden with your grandfather. There’s so much to learn from him, just like I did from my grandfather many years ago.
My grandfather was the most important male person in my life. I am missing him so much, still adoring his view of life and his capabilities - miss you Opa
It's good to know that nono lives in Canada but where hope in Toronto. Please make gardening videos more I want to learn nono' s wisdom regarding gardening in Canada n inherent his wisdom in this field. Thank you
I am fascinated by your grandfather's practicality, care for the environment, by recycling and repurposing everything. I hope young people learn from it. Wishing your grandparents a long, healthy, happy life.
Your grandpa is, without a doubt, the coolest guy in town-no contest! I have such deep admiration for the wisdom of elders and the way they navigate life with such graceful simplicity. They have this incredible ability to transform ordinary actions into profound life lessons, all while offering timeless advice drawn from years of experience. True story: One of the coolest customer I have worked for as a contractor was an retired Italian gentleman, he treated us like his long lost sons.
do you live in Canada? I was thinking in the U.S.A....your grandfather keeps himself well because he still dedicates himself to gardening...he's a good person
Our “throwaway” culture in the us and Canada could learn a thing or two by watching Nonno videos. Love the dynamic Julian has with his Nonno and Nonna. That’s what keeps me watching till the end of the videos. Plus I get some good gardening tips.
I'd love a garden tour in the spring and maybe a video getting all the plants set up. This is hands down one of my greatest channels. Miss my gran and gramps, they helped raise me. ❤😂❤
Nonno reminds me of my father. He is just like him in the sense that he is very resourceful and always finds a way to MacGyver something to make it work. He never throws away old items because he keeps them for one day when he may need them, just like Nonno keeping that old wire. He will improvise and make do with what he has. Watching you & Nonno put a smile on my face because it reminds me of when I help my dad outside with tasks like this. We have to cherish these moments and memories because they are all that we will have left when they are not with us anymore.
YOU ARE SO GOOD AND KIND AND PATIENT WITH UR NONNA. WHAT A GREAT TEACHER YOU HAVE. CANT LEARN THESE VALUABLE LIFE LESSONS SITTING AT A DESK. IM AN 84 ITALIAN LADY WHO GREW UP WATCHING MY PARENTS WORK HARD. NEVER SAW THEM SIT DOWN EXCEPT TO EAT A GREAT HOMEMADE NUTRICIOUS ITALIAN FOOD. LOVE ALL THE VIDEOS. THANK YOU JULIAN FOR SHARING YOUR NONNA AND NONNA COOKING AND FAMILY GET ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Amazing family! Communication and genuine respect for one another. Taking life as it comes and solving problems as they move forward. Absolutely beautiful!
I didn't really know my grandfathers. They died when I was very young. I envy your relationship with your grandparents and am living vicariously through you. Thank you for sharing your precious grandparents with the world.
Old cable is great. We use it to tie down the cover to our air conditioning unit so it doesn’t blow away in the winter wind. Don’t throw out your old cable!
Omg 😊 I love your Nonno so freaking much, he’s so amazing. Reminds me of my Sicilian father, used to help him cover our fig trees every year, except we didn’t bend them over we covered up to the sky 😮lol. ♥️ hugs to you and your beautiful family.

Your Nono could give Leonardo da Vinci a run for who is the better mechanical genius. Thank you all for posting this video I really appreciate it. Lot of people love anything to do with FIGS OR GARDENING!!!! Keep them coming!!!! GOD BLESS❤
Nonno has such a wealth of knowledge. Covering the fig trees his way comes from years of experience which he now shares with us. Thanks Nonno and Julian. Little Max in Nonna's sweater is priceless. Love the family 👏❤💯💞💕💯
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Nonno. He is a blessing. You are blessed to have him in your life. Your grandparents are to be cherished.💗 Linda from North Carolina.
I am positive if i were stranded somewhere, your lovely grandfather would help me survive and your grandmother would make something delicious out of whatever we find..😊❤
Oh my word. God bless the hard working Italians who came to this Country, leaving the most beautiful place on earth behind. I'm one of them. Came as a little girl. Now live on Vancouver Island. I'm so blessed, and figs grow like weeds here. Have 5 fig trees, and I pick thousands of figs every year. My Mom and Dad are smiling done from Heaven. God bless you and your family.
Such a blessing to have such beautiful grandparents 🦋Nono has so much beautiful wisdom and energy He keeps himself busy incredible and it’s so beautiful the relationship you have with your grandparents 🦋
I lost my grandfather at 98 just recently. Cherish these moments he is an awesome spirit to be with. Now I need to go and winterize my figs I think I'll see what I have laying around!
I’m in north Texas. We still get pretty good but if you have it in a big enough pot they can withstand the deep freezes. They do really well in ground but I don’t have space so I keep em in 5 gallon buckets and I bring them in when it gets super cold but ordinarily they do pretty well

Love them both!!!
I love every time I hear Nonno says “Forget About it” 😂❤️
Absolutely, I love it!❤
Same!! 😂❤
Same here
Julian, he is teaching you to reuse and repurpose. Not only does it save money but it saves the planet. At the same time he is teaching you how to maintain a food forest in a small space outside of its natural climate. Survival skills ❤

The world needs more Nonnos😊
nonno e nonna 🥰
there is plenty, they just dont have youtube channels. :)
This man is so amazing at 87 so smart, Julian is a lucky guy to have a grandfather like that😊

Exactly 💯👍

You and your siblings are so blessed to still have your grandparents, and them being so active.
You're an awesome grandson spending time with Nonna and Nonno and learning and sharing with us. Thank you.
He is! 🎉🎉
I appreciate Nonno's love for the environment and how he repurposes everything, we have become such a 'throwaway' society. Grazie Nonno!
Italians were always like that because they learned to reuse. Since they were poor.
Nonno is the one person you want to be stranded with on a deserted island ! You will learn so much and thrive.😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂👍🏼so true
Agreed 💯, he is resourceful!!
I love this comment ❤😂❤
Not my hubby! He’s dedicated to the tv while sinking my wing chair seat watching calcio all day long but, he thinks he knows all about gardening. 🤭 Our fig trees I overwinter in his cantina where they’re nicely dormant until spring…(in southern Ontario, it means the end of April…maybe) 😅
so cool to see a young man honouring and appreciating his Nonno💛💛💛
My dad is 90 and does the same thing to his fig tree. Their garden keeps them going! Dio ti benedica Nonno e Nonna e tutta la famiglia.
Nonno is a “nature engineer” and I’m here for it! 🥰
Me too! I luv learning all his tricks and Jonathan is so lucky to be his apprentice!❤ and Jonathan is the best grandson 8
An in-ground fig tree in Canada. Incredible. What’s more incredible is the wisdom and mentorship being passed on. Nonno has to be one of the best coaches. I echo his comment about not needing to go the gym. Working in the garden is all you need!
We had one in our backyard in Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦- didn’t need winter protection.
We had a very productive fig growing in a half barrel when living in Victoria. In ground (and uncovered in winter) figs are very common there.
my dad had the same ritual for winterizing his fig trees. he also stuff hay to help prevent frost. then one year we built a heated green house to house his fig trees and plant his seeds earlier in the spring. That greenhouse was his pride and joy.
What a wonderful gift you gave him in building a greenhouse.

Same in Spain.
Same in Greece.
Your granddad is a treasure. Value his insight and the time you are learning from him. Love you channel and your family.
You guys are fantastic! Lots of love and respect in this family. Totus Tuus
Nonno reminds me of my Mom, nothing ever went to waste. She told me that if I grew up during the depression, I would understand because I would give her grief about her never throwing things away. I miss my Mom💗now that she’s not here, please cherish your Nonno and Nonna, they’re amazing💕
My mom was from the depression and I swear she could make soup from absolute scraps and a rock…her soups were incredible. I miss her so much ❤
@ we were so lucky and blessed to have them and teach us that not everything has to be new. Especially how to make a great meal with whatever was in the pantry and fridge.
Ditto.
I always save my old hoses, don’t ask me why. My family thinks I’m crazy. I never use them for anything. But you never know. 😂😂
@ I am sure a DYI using hoses for a project has to be online.
Nonno is exactly like my dad was. He was the same kind of gardener as Nonno, and the same master McGyver. My dad was always able to repurpose, not throw out! Fantastic! Nonno is a wonderful teacher- You're beyond fortunate to spend quality time as you apprentice under your amazing Grandfather, Julian.
Blessings.
He never ceases to amaze me. ❤
Wonderful memories
Of my Nonno. WE lived on Long Island and every year the fig tree got tender loving care. Thanks for the video
Nonno is a Legend, I love his creativity and using what he has available. Thank you for sharing your wonderful grandparents with the world
I LIKE NONNO HE SAYS (FORGET ABOUT IT I DON'T CARE ANYWAY!!) HES FUNNY GOD BLESS HIM AND NONNA :)🙏
For years, my elderly Italian neighbour did this to winterize his precious fig tree! The only difference was he literally bent the tree far enough to bury it! Then he'd fill in on top of it with piles of leaves, boards and plastic. Every Spring, he was out there springing it back up again...
Yes, my grandparents did the same thing!
My father did the same thing.
Our neighbour dug a trench and annually buried a huge fig tree and put back upright, it produced a huge crop of figs.
Similar concept to burying grape vines during the winter.
I miss my grandpa. Thanks for posting
You better be writing a book! All his wisdom will be lost just when we might need it most, you never know. 👍🏼
Nonno you’re one a kind. I’m sure you have been in Canada longer than your birthplace Italy but you still do everything old school. You have so many genuinely amazing ideas. Without having to buy unnecessary stuff
⭐️COMMON SENSE IDEAS!♥️

I love how you keep him challenged by ALWAYS ASKING questions and explore where his thinking is at!

“I look and see what I need, And act accordingly” - Nonno. Very wise words!
Nono, you have so much energy. God bless you. 🙌

Fuggedaboutit is so classic, it makes me smile every time I hear an older Italian using it
Repurposed old things are from a life started with nothing and built so much 👍🏻🤩😁
I love how much respect he gives his grandparents!!!❤ You have raised a wonderful ADULT!!!🎉🎉🎉
Grand dad and Grand son, you are so amazing! Thank you for teaching others about hard work, intuitively doing things oh wow!!❤❤❤❤❤
God made Nonno a very creative man!!! God bless!!!
The wonderful energy and ingenuity of this beautiful gentleman. Lovely to see family working together. Good for the soul.

I love watching your grandoarents. What a blessing to have them with you. Learn as much as you can from them. Greetings from Guatemala.
So much fun and so educational. You guys warm my heart!
Your channel teaches me so much. I live in California high desert where we get snow. So doing something like this can save my plants.
It's good to know that nono lives in Canada but where hope in Toronto. Please make gardening videos more I want to learn nono' s wisdom regarding gardening in Canada n inherent his wisdom in this field. Thank you

I look at it see what I need and act accordingly, words to live by!
That fig will get some warmth from the house too…That house has got so much warmth from those who live in it 🤩👍🏻🌞😁😊
There is no one like Nonno 😊his ways are very interesting, I enjoy watching him.

I absolutely love your Nonno, he reminds me of my grandfather that was a loving Italian grandpa. He also was so smart about gardening and so many other things in life, he never threw anything out either, he made use of everything! My dad did too.
Your Nono could give Leonardo da Vinci a run for who is the better mechanical genius. Your and Vanessa's love of your grandparents and willingness and enjoyment of spending time with them is refreshing and an example for us all. BTW Vanessa is fostering a dog, she needed a name but I haven't heard what she decided on. My suggestion was in honour of the Muppets: Beeker thanks
We just love to watch every single episode. Nonno is an amazing man with an amazing wife and amazing grandchildren. ❤
Watching from Jamaica this man just keep going full of wisdom never a doll moment wish for you all the best long life❤❤❤❤
I love this grandpa❤ from South Africa🇿🇦 😊
Believe it or not, my nonno used to use sheets of flooring linoleum to cover his fig trees! It was a riot, but it worked!
I watched this video twice! I did want to miss any detail or conversation. That’s a lot of work and dedication to a tree , good for nonno and Julian!
My only advice, bc I’m a nurse and I can’t help it, next time wear google or some type of eye protection Julian…that’s all!
Much love to all of you from Ohio!❤❤
Thank you all for posting this video I really appreciate it. Lot of people love anything to do with FIGS OR GARDENING!!!! Keep them coming!!!! GOD BLESS❤
God/Jesus Bless you too. :)
Nonno has such a wealth of knowledge. Covering the fig trees his way comes from years of experience which he now shares with us.

I am positive if i were stranded somewhere, your lovely grandfather would help me survive and your grandmother would make something delicious out of whatever we find..😊❤
Thank you, Julian, for answering my question in video form with nonno showing us the tricks. I'll be using this method this year.
Oh my word. God bless the hard working Italians who came to this Country, leaving the most beautiful place on earth behind. I'm one of them. Came as a little girl. Now live on Vancouver Island. Italian cane! Where can I get some? Can I buy some from you Nonno?
Such a blessing to have such beautiful grandparents 🦋Nono has so much beautiful wisdom and energy He keeps himself busy incredible and it’s so beautiful the relationship you have with your grandparents 🦋
I lost my grandfather at 98 just recently. Cherish these moments he is an awesome spirit to be with. Now I need to go and winterize my figs I think I'll see what I have laying around!
Wow he’s so imaginative!!!!
Great job you two!!!
I’m in north Texas. We still get pretty good but if you have it in a big enough pot they can withstand the deep freezes. They do really well in ground but I don’t have space so I keep em in 5 gallon buckets and I bring them in when it gets super cold but ordinarily they do pretty well
My grandfather buried his fig trees under the ground every fall and then dug them up every spring. We're from New York
Literally just posted a comment like this. Mine would burry his fig trees every fall in Canada
Nonno is getting a greenhouse for Christmas 🎄🎁
Nonno is very resourceful. He doesn't waste anything. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
