Hi John whenever I do an undercut like this I ussually overhang a parrallel on the top after cutting and touch the underside, I think that was how I did this one but it has been a while. Then I do the math from there.
Thank you for your reply. I see that you machined it on a CNC mill. Was the cutting programmed or did you do a manual over-ride to do the underrcut?@@mvpmachine
@@johnspathonis1078John It was programmed for sure I rarely do manual stuff on the cnc because its way easier to just send the program over from the pc and safer in my opinion because you have a visual reference
Hi Joe thanks for watching! Here is a link for the pdf feed and speeds for these cutters :www.subtool.com/st/imgs/Fly%20Cutter%20Safety%20Document.pdf. it's pretty accurate but it depends on the machine it's being used on. I can really push the envelope at our shop with 40 and 50 spindle taper machines in aluminum. But lighter machines need to be crept up to a safe maximum speed...Tim
Wow, you do really nice work! And upside down, at that. Very cool video, guys!
Thank you for your comments! And thanks for watching!
Really impressive and versatile tool.
Thanks Jim! We use ours on about every job here, they make your parts look nice!
Nice work. How do you set the tool height for the undercutting tool?

Thank you for sharing! I have the same fly cutter and wondered about speeds and feeds because of the unbalanced nature of that tool.

@@mvpmachine Thanks for the information. I have a Series 1 BP with 30 taper, so I’ll take it nice and easy 😉
